Lin Buyu turned her head toward Jiang Ran. He was lounging lazily on the bed, staring at the ceiling as though there were something incredibly fascinating up there.
Unable to resist teasing him, she walked over, climbed onto the bed in a few quick movements, and leaned toward him with a mischievous grin.
“Oh, Team Leader, why are you suddenly being so nice to me? Is it because…”
“No.”
Jiang Ran cut her off before she could finish.
This beautiful man-eating flower had suddenly come so close to him, her eyes darting mischievously. He didn’t need to think twice to know that whatever came out of her mouth wouldn’t be anything proper.
Lin Buyu’s thoughts twisted into all sorts of directions when he covered her face with one hand.
The novel had said that Jiang Ran, the major villain, was completely devoid of human warmth. He was ruthless toward both people and zombies.
It even said that if his own biological parents died right in front of him, he wouldn’t bat an eye.
He was practically a heartless machine built solely for slaughtering zombies.
Even the system believed that winning over someone like him would be extremely, extremely difficult.
But after interacting with him, Lin Buyu realized that perhaps things weren’t quite as they seemed.

She grabbed his hand and pressed it against her chest with a bright smile.
“Team Leader, just admit it. You’ve gone soft on me… Is it because you suddenly realized I’m useful and can shield you from zombies?”
She was bringing that up again.
Her voice was deliberately sweet and coquettish, soft and delicate.
With her holding his hand, Jiang Ran could clearly feel how soft, smooth, and cool her little hand was.
He calmly pulled his hand free and pinched her chin, giving her a fake smile.
“Correct. I suddenly realized you’re useful. At a critical moment, you can help keep me alive.”
“Tsk. You’re just saying that because you don’t want to admit it.”
Lin Buyu pushed him lightly.
Fine, fine. This villain wasn’t going to develop any human warmth anytime soon.
She had known this mission wouldn’t be easy when she accepted it.
“I’m going to take a shower. Wait for me, Team Leader.”
She winked at him and casually climbed off the bed.
She looked as though she were deeply infatuated with him, but in reality, she was completely indifferent. Clearly, she was confident that he wouldn’t touch her.
Jiang Ran watched as she walked into the bathroom.
Then she suddenly turned around and invited him, “Want to shower together?”

It was fun teasing him.
There was a wooden tub in the bathroom. She immediately filled it with water, then took off her clothes and happily climbed into the tub.
The warm water soothed her smooth skin.
Lin Buyu raised her arm and discovered that, without her realizing it, her skin had become even more delicate and smooth.
Her pores and even the fine hairs on her skin were almost invisible. Her milky-white skin looked like the peeled surface of a perfect egg.
Could this be a change caused by the zombie body absorbing crystal cores?
She had picked up and eaten quite a few crystal cores at the hospital.
But there was still nothing in her head.
She had no idea how long it would take for a crystal core to form.
Whatever. She didn’t want to think about it anymore.
Time for a bath.
After soaking for a while, Lin Buyu took out the “body wash” the registration clerk had given her.
It was a clear liquid with a refreshing fragrance that made her feel almost floaty and incredibly comfortable.

She scrubbed left and right, pouring nearly half a bottle all over herself. She even washed her hair with it.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ran lay on the bed with his eyes closed, repeatedly recalling the scene of taking the man-eating flower to the hospital.
When he had sent her out as bait, he had actually kept a backup plan.
If she had no abilities and zombies really came, he was confident he could protect her life at the very first moment.
He simply hadn’t expected her to go so willingly, nor that she wouldn’t mind being used as bait at all.
Even more unexpected was the fact that her strength had far exceeded his expectations.
What he couldn’t understand was her true purpose in approaching him.
Just as he was thinking about it, he suddenly caught a strange scent.
He opened his eyes and glanced toward the bathroom.
The smell was coming from there.
Was it the fragrance of the body wash?
At first, Jiang Ran didn’t pay much attention to it. But as time passed, he gradually began to feel a strange heat spreading through his body.
He couldn’t help unbuttoning his shirt.
One black button after another came undone beneath his long fingers.
Jiang Ran’s dark eyes turned toward the bathroom again.

Jiang Ran got up and walked toward the bathroom with a dark expression.
Lin Buyu was soaking in the wooden tub, completely covered in bubbles from head to toe. Even the water around her was filled with foam.

She hummed a little tune when she suddenly heard movement behind her—the sound of the door opening.
She turned around in confusion.
Jiang Ran pushed open the bathroom door and walked in. His dark eyes carried a trace of coldness, along with an unusual flush.
Lin Buyu froze for a second.
She blinked without screaming.
“What are you doing?”
“Did you drug me?”
Jiang Ran had already stepped into the bathroom and closed the door behind him. He walked toward her step by step.
The bathroom wasn’t very large. In just two steps, he was standing beside the tub.
He braced both hands against the edge of the wooden tub and leaned down toward her.
“Do you want to sleep with me that badly?”
For a moment, he had almost believed that she had truly fallen for him at first sight.
A dangerous aura radiated from the man. Even his breath was scorching hot.
Lin Buyu glanced at him and noticed the veins bulging along his neck.
She showed absolutely no sense of danger. Reaching one fair, jade-like arm out of the water, she gently poked one of the veins in his neck.
“Did you get drugged with an aphrodisiac?”
His reaction looked exactly like someone who had been drugged with an aphrodisiac. She had seen the effects of such drugs before.
Jiang Ran grabbed her hand and lowered his gaze to the woman before him.
Her eyes were glistening with moisture as she looked at him innocently, even carrying a hint of curiosity.
Jiang Ran closed his eyes and gritted his teeth.
“You did this, and now you’re asking me?”
What had she done?
Lin Buyu looked utterly confused.
Jiang Ran picked up the white bottle beside him, opened the cap, and smelled it. After confirming that this was the culprit, he held the bottle out to her.
“Do you know what this is?”
Lin Buyu wasn’t stupid.
He had clearly been drugged, and after putting together his reactions and everything that had happened since he entered the bathroom, she quickly understood.
She snatched the bottle from him and exclaimed, “This stuff is an aphrodisiac? The registration clerk said it was body wash!”
Wait.
She suddenly remembered all those nosy questions the registration clerk had asked her while they were walking together.
No way.
Could that woman have thought she was helping her and Jiang Ran get together?
Lin Buyu suddenly felt guilty.
She looked up at Jiang Ran.
He was looking down at her, his dark eyes as deep as an abyss.
For some reason, when their eyes met, she felt as though she had fallen into a world hidden within his gaze.
“Are… are you okay?” she asked with an awkward smile.
“This was given to me by the registration clerk. She said it was body wash.”
Her voice gradually grew quieter, betraying her guilty conscience.
Jiang Ran studied her carefully.
He was certain that the bottle contained an aphrodisiac. Judging from all the foam in the bathtub, she had probably covered her entire body with it.
Yet she showed no reaction whatsoever.
She was completely unaffected by the drug.

She widened her eyes and stared at him.
