The aromatic steam from the unspun Earl Grey tea was still rising into the quiet kitchen air when Vespera lightly tapped the porcelain rim with a manicured claw, turning on her heel without taking a single sip.

“Leave it,” she murmured, a dark, purring melody in her throat. “We have to run some errands first, hero. Chop, chop.”

Rhys’s eyebrows drawn together, his heart giving a familiar, sickening thud. “Errands? What are you talking about, Vespera? What do you have planned now?”Full novel: Hero’s Debt: The Superhero House Husband — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Instead of her usual biting malice, Vespera stepped back into his personal space, her slitted amber eyes softening into a gaze that was almost... affectionate. It was a terrifyingly intimate shade of affection—the look a predator gives its favorite, highly prized hound. She reached up, gently smoothing down the collar of his simple cotton shirt, her thumb lingering against his jawline.

“Don’t worry your pretty, domestic head, Omen,” she teased, her tone absurdly soft, almost loving in its possessiveness. “Consider it a surprise. Now move your feet. We have a very tight schedule today.”

She led him outside into the bright, unfeeling morning sun. To Rhys’s surprise, Vespera didn’t walk toward the driver’s side of the matte-black luxury sedan. Standing by the rear passenger door was a tall, stoic man in an immaculate black suit, wearing grey leather driving gloves. As they approached, the driver bowed his head in absolute, silent deference and pulled the heavy door open for them.

Rhys hesitated on the gravel driveway, looking back at his immaculate home, but Vespera’s hand anchored itself to his lower back, subtly applying the crushing, magical weight of her contract to push him into the plush, leather-scented rear cabin. She slid in right beside him, the heavy door shutting with a dense, airtight thud that effectively severed him from the quiet suburb.

The sedan smoothly pulled out of the driveway, the gravel crunching beneath the heavy tires.

“Where are we going, Vespera?” Rhys asked again, his hands clenching into fists on his knees, his pulse hammering against his ribs. “Tell me.”

Vespera completely ignored his question. She shifted on the long, seamless leather bench, sliding her slender body across the seat until she was practically draped over his lap. Her manicured fingers unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt, sliding inside to feel the warm skin over his collarbone, while her lips locked onto the side of his neck, sucking firmly until Rhys let out a ragged, frustrated gasp.

“Vespera, stop—” he rasped, trying to turn his head away.

“Relax,” she murmured against his throat, her sharp teeth lightly grazing his pulse point. “We’re just picking up a few things for later. Supplies for our upcoming... appointments.” She pulled back just enough to lock her amber eyes with his, her face flushed with a sudden, dark appetite. “And besides... I’ve been waiting for this all morning.”

Before he could process her words, she cupped his face in her hands and kissed him ravenously. It was a deep, possessive assault—tasting of dark cherries and rich clove—her tongue sliding past his lips with a fierce, demanding hunger that made his head spin. Rhys tried to keep his mind rigid, tried to summon the cold discipline of his former life, but the sheer, overwhelming physical heat of her body pressed against his began to melt his resolve.

When she finally broke the kiss for air, her breath came in short, shallow hitches. A wicked, dazzling smile spread across her face as her leopard-spotted tail whipped excitedly against the leather backrest.

“We have plenty of time during the drive,” she purred, her hands sliding down his chest toward his belt. “Why waste a perfectly good commute?”

Rhys’s eyes flicked frantically toward the rearview mirror, catching the impassive, stoic gaze of the hired driver in the front seat. Panic and disgust flared in his chest. “Are you insane?! Have you no shame at all? There is literally a man driving us!”

Vespera burst into a sharp, musical laugh, entirely unbothered by his outburst. “Oh, please. He’s a professional, hero. He’s paid very, very well to have no eyes, no ears, and no memory.”

To punctuate her statement, a soft mechanical hum filled the cabin. A thick, dark, soundproof privacy glass partition slowly rose from the back of the front seats, sealing the rear cabin into an absolute, isolated sanctuary of leather and shadow.

Rhys closed his eyes, his shoulders slumping in defeat. Dammit.

Vespera leaned close to his face, her slitted eyes glittering with dark, sarcastic delight. “See? Now... if anyone in this car should be feeling shame, darling... it’s the noble savior lying to his wife while sitting in the back of my car.” Her smile dripped with absolute venom. “So let’s put that shame to good use.”

She grabbed his shoulders, firmly pushing him down off the leather bench until Rhys was forced onto his knees on the carpeted floorboard between her legs.

Vespera didn’t hesitate. She unzipped her dark leggings and slid them down her thighs, kicking them aside along with her silk undergarments. Rhys sat on his knees, trapped in the narrow space, looking up at her exposed, pristine body.

A wave of hot, suffocating shame washed over him, but as he took in the sight—the smooth curve of her thighs, the faint, intoxicating scent of dark orchids and her own natural heat rising in the enclosed cabin—his traitorous body reacted instantly. His core burned with an electric, unwanted surge of arousal.

Vespera looked down at him like a queen viewing a favored servant. She reached out, resting her warm palm heavily on the back of his head, her claws lightly tangling in his dark hair.

“Go ahead, Omen,” she purred softly, a dark command echoing in her tone. “Serve your landlord.”

Rhys swallowed hard, his hands gripping her bare knees for balance. He bowed his head and pressed his lips to her warm, damp center, beginning with slow, hesitant strokes of his tongue. He tried to go as slowly as possible, using the deliberate, sluggish pace as a pathetic form of rebellion, hoping to stall, hoping to maintain some fragment of control.

Vespera’s breath hitched instantly. Her pointed cat-elf ears twitched forward, her hips lifting off the leather seat as a shudder ran through her frame. His slow, agonized hesitancy seemed to excite her even more, drawing out every nerve ending to a razor’s edge.

“Oh... yes,” she gasped, her knuckles turning white as she gripped the armrest, her spotted tail coiling tightly around her waist. “Faster, Omen. Don’t tease me. Go faster!”

Rhys gritted his teeth and reluctantly accelerated his pace. He brought his hands up to frame her hips, his tongue working in deep, rhythmic laps, taking in her slick, heady sweetness. Vespera let out a breathless, sharp moan, her head rolling back against the leather headrest, her toes curling tightly into the floorboards as she surrendered to the sensation.

Mid-stroke, Rhys opened his eyes, looking up at her face through the shadow of his messy fringe.

A violent, chaotic war raged inside his heart. He felt a deep, boiling anger at her—a burning hatred for how she controlled him, how she humiliated him, how she was methodically destroying his domestic peace. But directly beneath that anger lay a dark, sickening vein of guilty satisfaction. Looking up at this powerful, cold-hearted woman writhing in pure ecstasy under his absolute control, seeing her completely helpless to the touch of his lips, fed a dangerous, suppressed ego he thought he had buried years ago. He hated her, but a dark part of him loved knowing he could break her composure so easily.

Vespera suddenly snapped her eyes open, her slitted amber gaze locking directly onto his through the dim light. She saw the dark fire in his eyes, recognized the silent battle in his soul, and smiled wickedly around a soft gasp.

“That’s it...” she whispered, her hands tightening in his hair. “Keep going... don’t you dare stop...”

Suddenly, the heavy luxury sedan began to slow down. The smooth, high-speed hum of the highway gave way to the low, idling rumble of a parking lot.

Rhys paused for a fraction of a second, his brow furrowing as he felt the car execute a sharp, sweeping turn. They had pulled off the main road and into a commercial complex. To Rhys’s absolute, unadulterated horror, the car slowed to a crawl, aligning itself into a narrow, painted lane.

They were in a drive-thru.

Rhys’s head snapped up in sheer panic, his jaw slacking as he realized what was happening. “Vespera... no. Tell me we are not at a drive-thru right now.”

Vespera’s wicked smile widened into a full, radiant show of her sharp, white canines. “Keep going, hero,” she ordered softly, her voice heavy with dark amusement. “I need to place an order. I get terribly hungry when you work so hard.”

Before he could pull away, Vespera swung her left leg over his shoulder, locking his head firmly between her thighs, pinning him in place against her damp heat.

With her free hand, she pressed a button on the door panel. The electric window rolled down with a quiet, agonizing hiss, letting the cool, crisp morning air and the loud, static-filled crackle of an outdoor intercom system flood into the cabin.

“Welcome to Garden Provisions & Specialty Express, what can I get started for you today?” a young, tinny voice squawked over the radio speaker right outside her window.

Rhys felt his soul leave his body. He was on his knees in the dark backseat, his face pressed directly into the bare, slick groin of his blackmailing landlord, while she sat casually by an open window talking to a drive-thru clerk.

“Yes, good morning,” Vespera said smoothly, her voice sounding entirely calm, elegant, and refined, without a single trace of hesitation. “I’d like two of the hot espresso roasts, a box of the artisan honey pastries, and the pre-ordered organic grocery tote under the name Vane, please.”

Rhys’s mind short-circuited. The sheer, absurd obscenity of the situation filled him with a sudden, reckless spike of spite. He was tired of being the helpless victim. He wanted to shatter her icy, flawless composure right here, right now, in front of the intercom speaker.

Rhys gripped her thighs firmly, buried his face deep into her center, and plunged his tongue inside her with a sharp, aggressive, flicking motion, swirling hard against her most sensitive nerve endings.

Vespera’s body went instantly rigid.

Her voice completely cut off mid-sentence. A sharp, loud gasp choked in her throat, her back arching wildly off the leather seat as a violent shudder ripped through her lower body. Her leg clamped around his neck like a vise, her claws digging deep into his hair as she fought with everything she had not to let out a full-throated, shameless scream right into the microphone.

“...Ma’am? Did you catch all that? Anything else for you today?” the tinny voice on the radio asked, completely oblivious.

Rhys pulled back just a fraction of an inch, looking up through his dark lashes with a triumphant, wicked smirk playing on his lips. He took the small, petty victory and held it close to his chest.

Vespera took a long, shaky, ragged breath, clutching her chest, her face flushed a violent, gorgeous crimson. She glared down at Rhys with a mixture of shock and intense, smoldering heat, taking several agonizing seconds to collect her voice.

“No... that will be all,” Vespera finally managed to say, her voice pitching slightly higher than normal, trembling with suppressed pleasure. “Thank you.”

“Great! Please pull around to the second window to pay and pick up your order!”

Vespera pressed the button, rolling the window back up as the sedan idling forward slowly in the short line.

She looked down at Rhys, her slitted amber eyes burning with a wild, dangerous fire. A slow, dark grin spread across her flushed face. “I actually really liked that little move, Omen,” she whispered husky, her tail swishing violently against the door. “You’re getting bold. I’m going to make you pay for that later.”

Rhys’s triumphant smirk instantly vanished. Dammit.

The sedan slowly crept forward, stopping beside the second window of the building. Rhys let out a long, silent sigh of relief as he heard the driver’s side window in the front cabin roll down. Thank God, he thought, bracing himself to just endure the final moments of her hold. The driver is taking care of the transaction.

Through the soundproof glass partition, Rhys could see the driver reach out, handing a sleek black credit card to a young, cheerful teenage server working the window. The young woman cheerily swiped the card, handing back the receipt along with two large, insulated coffee cups and a heavy, high-end canvas grocery tote filled with fresh fruits, cheeses, and artisanal goods.

Rhys didn’t care what was in the bag; he was far too preoccupied trying to survive the crushing grip of Vespera’s thighs around his head.

“Here is your receipt, sir! Have a wonderful rest of your day!” the young server said cheerfully, leaning slightly out the window to hand over the final pastry box.

Then, to Rhys’s absolute, paralyzed horror, Vespera reached over and pressed a master button on her armrest.

The dark, soundproof privacy partition didn’t just stay up—it smoothly rolled all the way down into the seatbacks.

The young server at the window, still leaning out to watch the luxury car pull away, casually glanced into the rear cabin as the glass vanished.

The girl’s cheerful smile froze instantly. Her eyes went as wide as saucers.

Standing right at the open window, she was given an absolute, unobstructed, crystal-clear view of the backseat: a stunning, half-elf cat woman sitting partially unbuttoned, her legs spread wide over the shoulders of a handsome, muscular man on his knees, his face mere inches from her bare, glistening groin, his shirt torn open and his hair wildly tousled.

The young server let out a sharp, audible gasp of pure, unadulterated shock. A deep, burning crimson flush exploded across her face, traveling all the way down to her neck. She stood completely speechless, clutching her order clipboard to her chest like a shield, utterly paralyzed by the shameless, high-society filth happening three feet in front of her face.

Rhys froze like a deer in headlights. The gravity of the moment hit him like a freight train. He was a legendary former hero, a respected member of the community, a married man... and he was currently caught red-handed acting as a pleasure slave in the back of a drive-thru lane. He desperately tried to pull his head back, to duck out of sight, to hide his face in shame.

Vespera, however, had zero shame. She let out a low, devilish chuckle, her amber eyes sparkling with absolute, sadistic delight at the girl’s reaction. She reached down with one hand, firmly grabbing Rhys by the back of his hair, using her feline strength to hold his head right where it was, refusing to let him hide his face.

She looked past Rhys, offering the hyperventilating, blushing server a sweet, icy, utterly terrifying smile.

“Driver,” Vespera called out smoothly, her voice echoing clearly through the open cabin. “Make sure to tip the young lady well for her... prompt and discrete service.”

“Yes, Miss Vane,” the driver replied without a single grain of emotion. He reached into his suit jacket, pulled out a crisp, hundred-dollar bill, and handed it directly to the stunned girl.

The young server stared at the hundred-dollar bill, then back at Rhys’s mortified, blushing face, her mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. She swallowed hard, frantically nodding her head as she took the money, trying desperately not to look into the backseat while failing miserably.

“T-thank you... s-have a nice day...” she squeaked out, her voice pitching an octave higher as she scrambled backward into the building, slamming the drive-thru window shut behind her.

The sedan smoothly accelerated, pulling out of the parking lot and merging back onto the main thoroughfare.

Vespera burst into a fit of dark, hysterical laughter, leaning her head back against the seat, her spotted tail beating a rhythmic cadence against the leather. “Oh, magnificent! Absolutely magnificent! We gave that poor little girl a show she’ll be talking about for the rest of her life!”

Rhys sat on the floorboard, his face burning with a shame so deep he felt like he might physically combust. “You are a monster,” he rasped, his voice trembling. “A sick, twisted monster.”

“And you are my dedicated little helper,” Vespera purred, her laughter subsiding into a low, dangerous growl. She gripped his hair tighter, pulling his face right back into her wet, throbbing heat. “Now finish what you started, hero. I’m right on the edge, and I am not leaving this car unsatisfied.”

Mortified, hollowed out, and entirely trapped, Rhys had no choice. He closed his eyes, tuned out the hum of the road, and threw himself into the act with desperate, mechanical precision. He swirled, lapped, and suctioned, giving her everything he had left.

Vespera didn’t last another minute. With a sharp, breathless scream that echoed off the leather interior, her hips violently bucked upward. She finished hard, her thighs clamping down around Rhys’s head like an iron vise, her entire body shaking in a prolonged, intense orgasm that left her breathless and trembling.

For several minutes, the cabin was silent save for her heavy, ragged breathing.

Finally, Vespera let out a long, satisfied sigh and released her grip on his hair. She casually pushed the button to roll the privacy partition back down. She pulled her silk undergarments and leggings back up, smoothing down her designer sweater as if she had just finished a mild Pilates session.

She reached forward, tapping the partition window. “Driver. Hand over the pastry box and the espresso.”
