Seeing Lin Wanwan’s skill when killing the cockroach, Lin Duoduo knew that her presence would only add to the trouble, so she dutifully closed the car door tight.

Seeing that Lin Duoduo had secured the doors and windows, Lin Wanwan gripped her blade tightly with her right hand, lightly unlatched the treasure chest buckle with her left hand, and then kicked open the chest lid with her foot.

Even when facing monsters from Level 1 treasure chests, she maintained a cautious attitude—safety first.Full novel: Highway Survival: I Drive a Beat-Up Minivan to Carry My Little Sister to Victory — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The instant she kicked open the box, a giant rat crawled out from inside.

A terror beast rat? This would be easy to handle.

Lin Wanwan did not wait for the rat to attack; she lunged forward in a fierce dash.

The rat had just emerged from the treasure chest and was not yet fully clear-headed when Lin Wanwan’s blade was already thrusting toward its neck.

It had to be said that rats truly lived up to being relatively intelligent animals in the animal kingdom; although it didn’t know what was going on, its animal instincts made it leap backward violently.

Because Lin Wanwan had put full power into this strike, enough force was already committed, making it too late to change her strike path, so she could only continue swinging her blade.

With a squelching sound, the blade slashed down.

Although this slash did not pierce the rat’s neck, its front limb was directly sliced off by Lin Wanwan’s short blade because it couldn’t dodge in time.

“Squeak!”

The giant rat uttered a painful wail. Perhaps because the pain was truly severe, its wailing sound was somewhat distorted.

Blood sprayed all over the ground from the rat’s severed front leg.

Leaning against the car window, Lin Duoduo couldn’t help covering her ears with both hands upon hearing the giant rat’s screeches.

However, after a brief thought, she put her hands back down and, enduring the nausea in her heart, stared fixedly at the rat’s appearance.

Seeing that she failed to kill the rat in a single strike, Lin Wanwan did not feel discouraged either.

Twisting her posture to face the rat sideways, she thrust fiercely toward the rat’s neck once more.

If dodging Lin Wanwan’s initial assassination attempt was due to animal instinct, this intense pain made the terror rat’s reactions visibly a step slower.

It could be slow, but Lin Wanwan’s speed was not slow.

Without any accident this time, the short blade plunged fiercely into the terror rat’s neck.

The shrieking rat’s cries came to an abrupt halt.

Lin Wanwan pulled out the short blade in one smooth motion and moved away from the rat to avoid any final struggle before death.

A few seconds later, the terror rat turned into specks of light and dissipated in the air, and the blood on the ground vanished as well, leaving only a light orb behind.

Only then did Lin Wanwan let out a long sigh of relief.

Grimacing in pain, she said to Lin Duoduo inside the car:

“Duoduo, you can come down now. Give me a hand.”

Hearing Lin Wanwan calling her to get off the car, Lin Duoduo did not dare delay. She quickly pulled open the door and rushed to her sister’s side.

“Sister, what’s wrong? Are you hurt?”

“I didn’t get hurt this time,” Lin Wanwan said.

“Sister, what do you mean by saying you didn’t get hurt this time?” Lin Duoduo was a bit confused.

She had watched Lin Wanwan battle the terror beast the entire time. Her sister could be said to have denied the rat any opportunity whatsoever, cleanly and crisply dispatching it. So why did her sister say she was hurt?

“I’m not freshly wounded. It’s the scabbed wounds from earlier that split open—it hurts a lot.”

Now that danger was gone, Lin Wanwan began acting like a spoiled child toward Lin Duoduo.

Hearing Lin Wanwan say the wounds had split open, Lin Duoduo quickly looked at Lin Wanwan’s recently scabbed wounds.

Those tiny scratches, where parts had already scabbed over, were now splitting open again, with dots of red oozing out from the wounds once more.

“Sister, does it hurt?”

“It hurts. Quickly blow on it for me.”

“Ah.”

Hearing Lin Wanwan say it hurt, Lin Duoduo blew gently on the wounds with her small mouth.

The unscrupulous Lin Wanwan chuckled secretly—her younger sister was so easily fooled.

After a while, Lin Wanwan pulled Lin Duoduo up.

“Duoduo, no need to blow anymore. Quickly go open those light orbs and see what’s inside.”

“Are you okay, Sister?”

“I’m fine. Time is almost up, I won’t tease you anymore.”

Hearing Lin Wanwan say she was teasing her, Lin Duoduo pouted her small lips.

However, she knew her sister was truly in pain; otherwise, she wouldn’t have trembled after killing the rat.

Lin Wanwan was using this way to tell her that she could handle it, so she wouldn’t have to worry.

Lin Duoduo obediently supported Lin Wanwan into the car, then brought the three light orbs back into the van.

This was her first time opening light orbs, and Lin Duoduo was very excited.

She pressed her hands together, praying a few words to whatever deity might be listening, before reaching out to touch the first light orb.

*BANG.*

The light orb dispersed.

A crate of 24 bottles of mineral water landed in the car compartment.

This single draw made Lin Wanwan’s eyes go completely wide.

She had opened so many chests herself just to get over 20 bottles of water, yet her sister got 24 bottles of water right on her very first chest draw.

Could the gap between people really be this massive?

Lin Duoduo had no idea what Lin Wanwan was thinking; she reached out to touch the second light orb.

As the light orb dispersed, a pack of compressed biscuits fell onto the floor.

Lin Wanwan nodded—now this was normal, okay? Having such a high drop rate when opening light orbs would make her as an older sister look completely useless.

Lin Duoduo reached out to touch the third light orb.

As the light orb shattered, a blueprint dropped into the vehicle compartment.

Seeing the blueprint, Lin Wanwan was extremely excited—good stuff had dropped!

“Duoduo, quickly check what kind of blueprint this is!”

Hearing her sister’s excited voice, Lin Duoduo immediately picked up the blueprint and handed it into Lin Wanwan’s hands.

“Sister, look at it yourself. There are many words I still don’t recognize.”

Lin Wanwan nodded and reached out to take the blueprint.

When her eyes landed on the words written on the blueprint, her mouth gaped wide open, unable to utter a single word.

“Sister, Sister, what blueprint is it?”

Seeing her sister’s stunned state, Lin Duoduo couldn’t help pushing Lin Wanwan.

“Hss.”

Although Lin Duoduo didn’t use much force with this push, she still accidentally pulled on Lin Wanwan’s wounds.

The pain snapped Lin Wanwan straight back to her senses.

“Wretched kid, are you trying to murder your own sister?”

Lin Wanwan glared fiercely at Lin Duoduo.

Lin Duoduo didn’t fall for her act at all, asking again:

“Sister, what blueprint is it after all? Why were you acting so dazed?”

Speaking of the blueprint, Lin Wanwan immediately couldn’t be bothered to argue with Lin Duoduo; she placed the blueprint right in front of Lin Duoduo’s eyes like showing off a treasure.

“Wretched little sister, I must admit, you truly are my lucky star.”

Hearing Lin Wanwan change her form of address again, Lin Duoduo shook her head helplessly.

Her sister was just like this: when serious matters arose, she might still be considered reliable, especially when it involved her.

However, when it was just the two sisters alone, her true nature would be exposed completely, and it could even be said she had no image left to speak of.

“Lin Wanwan, don’t keep me in suspense! Taking advantage of the fact that I can’t read many words, are you? Tell me quickly what blueprint it is.”
