After activating the childcare instructor job, the familiar golden multi-lane road appeared before Lu Yuelan’s eyes. The process was much the same as yesterday, first refuel the small school bus, then use her skill to complete the cub-related tasks.
The only difference this time was that Lu Yuelan encountered a small white cat on the way and did not receive any transport order from the little boy.
In line with her principle of completing every task she came across, Lu Yuelan got off the bus and greeted the adorable white cat.
“Good morning, little one. I’m Teacher Lulu. What are you doing here all alone? Where are your guardians?”
The little white tiger, Meng Yemo (Dream Night Demon), had originally seen a car suddenly stop in front of it and worried that it might be its father’s political enemies trying to capture it to threaten its father. Its ears shot straight up, and it even shifted its hind legs backward, ready to bolt.
But before it had retreated far, it saw a beautiful big sister step out of the vehicle, eyes sparkling with admiration. A beautiful big sister, want to stick close! The whole tiger froze on the spot.
By the time it came back to its senses, the beautiful big sister was already standing in front of it, greeting it gently. The little tiger became completely flustered. After a chaotic self-introduction, Meng Yemo ended up revealing its entire plan for the day.
“Hello, Teacher Lulu. My name is Mengmeng. I was planning to go to the supermarket ahead to buy some things today. My father has something to do and doesn’t have time to accompany me.”
The last sentence made Lu Yuelan feel a tightness in her chest. As someone who was almost like an orphan, unloved by father and mother, she deeply resonated with the feeling of being ignored because a parent was busy with work. Without thinking, she immediately offered to accompany the little one to the supermarket.
“That… that’s a bit embarrassing. Teacher Lulu probably has other things to do. I… I can go alone.”
Meng Yemo lowered its fluffy head, eyes filled with loneliness.
The beautiful big sister must have been joking earlier. It was such a useless little beast, apart from playing every day, no creature would ever like it or play with it.
“What could be more important than my little cutie? Let’s go. Teacher will take you there.”
Being able to complete a task while also petting a fluffy little cat, Lu Yuelan felt like she was about to die of happiness. Before even lifting the kitten into the car, she secretly stroked it once. So soft, so comfortable, wu wu, this job was absolutely perfect for someone like her who adored cute things.
Although Lu Yuelan thought she was being subtle, Meng Yemo’s sharp senses immediately detected it. One of its ears turned red. It wanted to tell the beautiful big sister not to touch it randomly, there were differences between males and females.
But when it saw the young lady’s gentle, sweet smile, Meng Yemo instantly forgot what it was going to say. Dazed and obedient, it let her fasten the seatbelt for it, missing its best chance to object.
“Is it the Yongjia Supermarket ahead?”
Lu Yuelan opened the small school bus’s navigation system and found that there was a supermarket not far ahead. She turned to the adorably dazed little one beside her and asked whether the destination was correct.
“Yes, Dad gave me a Yongjia Supermarket shopping card. I can go there to buy things. Sorry to trouble Teacher Lulu. If Teacher Lulu needs anything later, you can tell Mengmeng. Mengmeng can help pay, it can be the reward for Teacher Lulu taking time out of her busy schedule to give me a ride.”
“Haha, you’re such a cute kid. Keep your own money safe. Teacher Lulu has money, no need for you to pay~”
Even though Lu Yuelan didn’t even have a single resource coin left on her, she still couldn’t bring herself to trick a child out of money. That would be far too inhumane. If she were found out, she would lose both face and dignity, and might even get severely beaten up by some fierce alien guardian. It simply wasn’t worth it.
“It’s okay. This is Dad’s allowance for Mengmeng today. Teacher doesn’t need to be polite.”
Meng Yemo acted like a carefree little troublemaker, completely overturning Lu Yuelan’s first impression of the white kitten.
She had thought it was a shy, well-behaved little boy, but unexpectedly it was also a little spendthrift. It was willing to spend large amounts of money on complete strangers it had never even met. As a broke person herself, Lu Yuelan didn’t even know what to say anymore.
If it were an adult, she would probably already be green with envy, thinking the heavens were unfair, that having one more rich person wouldn’t cause the world to explode.
Unfortunately, the target of this “showing off” was a kitten that hadn’t even been weaned yet. Lu Yuelan couldn’t feel even a trace of jealousy. Instead, she found herself worrying about it.
“That’s your property too. Teacher has neither the right nor the qualification to use your belongings, understand?”
Lu Yuelan worried that the child was too innocent and might be deceived by ill-intentioned people, so she kept rambling along the way, teaching it what it meant for human hearts to be dangerous and unpredictable.
True friends would never covet what was in a friend’s pocket. If you meet so-called friends who always expect you to treat them, cover expenses, or pay for everything, you must cut ties with them immediately. Those are bad companions, people like that won’t help you at all. They’ll only drag you down and turn you into the same kind of trash as they are.
Meng Yemo stared at Lu Yuelan blankly. After she had lectured for a long while, Lu Yuelan suddenly remembered that no matter how smart the child was, it was still just a baby. Matters that were complicated and hard for adults to judge, how could a little one possibly understand them? It was just wasted effort. So she stopped nagging and focused on driving.
In reality, Meng Yemo did understand what Lu Yuelan was saying, but its brain completely froze and stopped working.
This was completely different from what it had always heard before. Those other children clearly said that anyone who refused to pay, or who was stingy over such small amounts of money, was not a good companion and wouldn’t be liked.
Its father was always miserly, even demanding repayment for things it had paid for other children, which was why no one liked playing with it.
Because of this, Meng Yemo had argued with its father more than a dozen times, but its father still insisted on doing things his own way.
This time, Meng Yemo had already decided that after paying for the young lady, it would write a gifting contract stating that all those items belonged to the young lady herself. That way, its father would no longer be able to reclaim the small gifts it had given Teacher Lulu.
But it seemed that Teacher Lulu was unhappy about this. She said that doing so would make her a bad teacher who deceives children, and that true friends who care about it would not keep letting it give things unilaterally.
These words from Teacher Lulu clashed heavily with everything Meng Yemo had believed up to now, and its already not-very-bright brain completely froze for a moment.
“Baby, we’ve arrived at the supermarket. What do you want to buy? Teacher will take you inside.”
Only when Lu Yuelan drove up to Yongjia Supermarket and called it gently did Meng Yemo snap back to reality. They had already arrived at the destination, was the teacher about to leave?
Subconsciously, Meng Yemo grabbed Lu Yuelan’s wrist, its grip so strong that it almost injured her.
When it realized what it had done, tears nearly welled up in its eyes.
“Teacher Lulu, I didn’t mean it! Please don’t be angry. Whatever you want later, I’ll buy it for you.”
After getting grabbed, Lu Yuelan didn’t think much of it. She only felt that the little one, despite its young age, was born with incredible strength, so amazing. If her future child could be this strong, she wouldn’t have to worry about them being bullied anymore.
