Clearly, Meng Yemo’s response made Lu Yuelan realize she had been overthinking things.
It turned out the supermarket wasn’t simply closed; it just switched into an unattended shopping mode, where all discounts and promotions were suspended.
Lu Yuelan didn’t have many resources on hand. On the way, she had already tried contacting the official “nationally recognized” account, hoping to exchange for some resource coins or other currency to cover this supermarket trip.
However, the official account might still have been dealing with the aftermath of last night’s intense battle and hadn’t checked its messages. By the time she arrived at the destination, Lu Yuelan still hadn’t received any reply.
She had no choice but to send a message to “Earth Is Too Dangerous, I Want to Go Back to Mars ,” asking that if the nationally recognized person was still with him, he should pass along her message. She wanted to discuss a big deal, she was confident that after the transaction, the official side would make a huge profit.
So far, the little guy was still busy and hadn’t replied either.
With practically nothing to her name, Lu Yuelan’s expectations for the supermarket had already dropped significantly.
Seeing good things there would be pointless anyway, she couldn’t possibly shamelessly ask a little milk-cat to pay for her. If she went in, it would just be looking without buying, so she was already half unwilling to go.
But looking at the clear anticipation in the little one’s eyes, she couldn’t bring herself to say, “You go ahead, Teacher Lu won’t go.”
Forget it, she’d just treat it as walking around the supermarket with the little one. She would just look and not buy anything.
“Alright, little cutie. Wait for Teacher. I’ll be over after I finish feeding those three little cuties.”
Lu Yuelan thought she should stall a bit longer to see if the little guy, “Earth Is Too Dangerous, I Want to Go Back to Mars ,” could help her get the “official national recognition” back online. That way, she could try selling some temporarily unused good items in her possession and exchange them for some currency to do a proper shopping trip.
Unfortunately, even after she opened three cans of cat food and fed the three orange cats with identical fur, neither “Earth Is Too Dangerous, I Want to Go Back to Mars ” nor the “official national recognition” account had replied to her.
This supermarket trip was definitely going to be a wasted effort. Lu Yuelan, looking gloomy, pulled along Meng Yemo, who was visibly unhappy but seemed to suddenly think of something and broke into a smile, as they walked into the golden building covered in lush green plants.
The design was very strange: the entrance was green, while the golden building itself was densely covered in climbing vines. For anyone else, it would have been unsettling, even creepy, like one wrong step and they might be buried here.
But Lu Yuelan, with her unusually large nerves, didn’t notice anything off. After all, most of the creatures here were beast-shaped; their aesthetics naturally differed from humans, which was perfectly normal.
“Teacher Lu… do you really like those three little orange cats that much? You didn’t even focus on shopping.”
Meng Yemo had held it in for a long time, but still couldn’t stop the sour feeling and asked it out loud.
But the moment it said it, it immediately regretted it.
Friends always said that being a beast meant being generous, polite, and perceptive, only then would others like you.
It was something Meng Yemo had never done well. It often got disliked by its friends, who didn’t want to play with it. It didn’t want to be disliked by Teacher Lu either.
“Forget it. Teacher Lu, you have your own way of doing things. I shouldn’t interfere so much.”
“What do you mean interfere? You’re just being curious.”
Lu Yuelan didn’t pick up on the slightly sour tone in Meng Yemo’s words due to her rather rough nerves.
It was normal for little cuties to squabble anyway, weren’t those two just fighting earlier? Nothing serious.
Meng Yemo opened and closed its mouth, wanting to say it wasn’t just curiosity, it was jealousy. It had never even been fed by Teacher Lu before, so why did those three bizarre beasts get to be personally fed by her?
If Teacher Lu knew how bizarre those three beasts actually were, she probably wouldn’t have even a shred of affection for them.
But saying that would just make it look petty. Meng Yemo didn’t want Teacher Lu to end up disliking it too. Its mouth opened and closed several times, but no words came out, leaving the atmosphere a little awkward.
“Come to think of it, those three little cats look really similar. Are they from the same family?”
Lu Yuelan felt the atmosphere around them was getting a bit strange and decided the previous topic couldn’t continue, so she changed the subject.
After all, as a childcare worker for little cubs and a teacher to cute little creatures, and with her mild “cute-creature enthusiast” tendencies, it could come off as a bit abnormal. Plus, the surroundings felt a little off, so changing the topic was the best option.
“Yes, a group of bizarre cats.”
With Teacher Lu taking the lead in breaking the awkward silence, Meng Yemo relaxed its body and followed along with the conversation.
But as soon as it said it, it realized it might have spoken wrongly again. Speaking ill of others behind their backs was inappropriate. It was always failing to be a good child like this, no wonder its friends didn’t want to play with it.
“How bizarre are they, exactly?”
Lu Yuelan didn’t take it seriously. They were all just cute little cats anyway, how troublesome could they really be? At most, just a bit mischievous.
“Teacher Lu, don’t underestimate them. Those three have done a lot of bizarre things. Once I—”
Seeing that Teacher Lu looked unconcerned, Meng Yemo assumed she was doubting its words. Forgetting its earlier intention not to gossip about others behind their backs, it immediately launched into an animated explanation.
It listed how those three beasts had forcibly taken back gifts they’d made it give away, how they played games with its friends, losing would result in gluing fur with adhesive, winning would mean beating the other party up, and many other strange and outrageous incidents, all in great detail to Teacher Lu.
If it weren’t for the fact that Meng Yemo knew those three beasts treated it well and had watched it grow up as elders, it would have long since asked its father to fire them. They lacked any sense of tact, no wonder no other little beasts liked them except itself.
“But baby… Teacher Lu feels those three beasts are actually quite protective of you.”
As for the later gaming incidents, Lu Yuelan wasn’t clear on the details and couldn’t comment. But regarding the earlier matters, she had deep personal experience.
Just earlier on the road, the little one had casually said she could pick anything in the supermarket and that it would cover everything for her, an overbearing “I’ll pay for everything” attitude that had already left a deep impression on Lu Yuelan, a perpetually broke “weird” teacher.
Lu Yuelan had no doubt that whatever those three beasts had recovered for this cute little one must have been extremely valuable. Otherwise, even adult beasts from the same wealthy circle wouldn’t risk being disliked by their own cub over something trivial.
As for whether those three beasts had nothing to do with the little white cat in front of her, who would believe that? Lu Yuelan certainly didn’t.
She casually turned her head, and from the corner of her eye immediately spotted the three supposedly “sneaky” big orange cats. Her mouth twitched uncontrollably.
You three cuties… your orange-red fur is so obvious, and your bodies are so big that anyone with eyes can see you. There’s really no need to hide so awkwardly.
“They are very good to me, but they’re too forceful in how they do things. Because of that, none of the other kids are willing to play with me anymore.”
This time, Meng Yemo was fully focused on explaining to its beloved Teacher Lu that it wasn’t a petty, ignorant, ungrateful little beast. It didn’t even notice that those three bizarre elder beasts were still behind it, otherwise, it would have already gone over to chase them away.
