Although charcoal wasn’t particularly useful at the moment—

This was a survival game. Any kind of disaster could happen. So this blueprint was extremely appealing to her.Full novel: Highway Survival: Starting with a Small Cart — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Yan Lan thought for a moment and replied, “I can trade. How about I give you one meat bun, one purple rice bread, and one bottle of mineral water?”

Shi Yuanyuan’s heart trembled with emotion. This was way too generous!

Not only was she not ripping him off, but she was also considerate enough to include water so he wouldn’t choke!

These supplies would bring his health back to full and keep him going for another whole day.

He eagerly sent over the women’s underwear and the Charcoal Blueprint. Yan Lan kept her word and sent the food in return. The deal was done very pleasantly.

Her 10 backpack slots were full, so the two new items got pushed out.

She needed to find a place to store them. But when she looked around, she was horrified to find that there was no space left in the rear compartment, it was completely filled with the crafting table and the newly made toilet paper.

She frowned and sent another message to Shi Yuanyuan: “Do you have anything like a backpack?”

Shi Yuanyuan was in the middle of stuffing purple rice bread into his mouth when he saw the message. He nearly choked and quickly took a swig of water before replying, “No, I don’t. What’s wrong?”

Yan Lan told him honestly, “I have too many types of supplies and not enough slots. I’m looking for a backpack to store miscellaneous items.”

The barely concealed complaint in her words stabbed Shi Yuanyuan right in the heart like a sharp knife. He looked guiltily at his own backpack, which still had several empty slots, and rubbed his face in embarrassment.

He remembered a novel he had read, so he hesitantly suggested, “A single backpack slot can hold up to 1,000 identical items. But I’ve heard that if you put different items into a backpack or a chest, no matter how many things are inside, it only counts as one slot.”

Yan Lan took a moment to digest this information, and her eyes immediately lit up. That made sense!

But she had neither a cloth bag nor a chest. What could she use to store things?

The only thing in sight was the crafting table. Wait, the crafting table!

When she first got the crafting table, the description said it could make anything. If it was that powerful, it should be able to recognize homemade blueprints too, right?

As if she had just conceived a grand plan, Yan Lan crouched in the three-wheeler, threw her head back, and laughed at the sky.

Drawing up a blueprint required paper and a pen. For paper, she could use toilet paper as a substitute. As for the pen—

Thinking of the Charcoal Blueprint she had just obtained, Yan Lan was eager to give it a try. Charcoal was black and could be used to write.

She set aside her toilet paper work and started experimenting.

Using the Charcoal Blueprint, she obtained a piece of charcoal. She broke off a corner and sharpened it, and with that, a crude pen was born.

She tore off a piece of toilet paper and began to draw. She had already decided to make a wooden chest, which would require wood, and she happened to have plenty on hand.

She quickly drew a square, lidless wooden chest, even thoughtfully marking its length, width, and height.

Looking at this rather decent-looking wooden chest drawing, Yan Lan’s confidence soared. She placed the blueprint and some wood onto the crafting table, pressed her palms together, and waited nervously.

Beep~ Blueprint too crude to recognize!

Three beeps sounded in a row. Yan Lan picked up the blueprint and studied it carefully. The crafting table said it was “too crude” but didn’t say it was invalid, so there was still hope.

She examined it from every angle and finally spotted the flaw. The blueprints provided by the game were extremely detailed, everything from the outer contours down to the smallest joint and component.

Her wooden chest drawing wasn’t bad, but it lacked detail: the texture design on the exterior, whether the corners were rounded or square, whether the joints were held together by iron nails or mortise and tenon, and so on.

After figuring this out, Yan Lan revised the blueprint and added a piece of metal to the crafting table.

【Crude Wooden Chest Blueprint*Permanent | Required Materials: Wood ×10, Metal ×1.】

Clank~ Clank~

The crafting table began to work.

It actually worked!

She was overjoyed and also deduced a rule: Homemade blueprints could be recognized, but they had to be drawn with extreme precision. Given her skills, or the skills of most people, that wasn’t feasible. However, simple, small items might be doable.

Half a minute later, a roughly made wooden chest appeared on the crafting table. It was large and heavy, and she felt the three-wheeler sink down by a few centimeters.

She quickly placed the wooden chest into a newly emptied backpack slot. With the weight off the rear compartment, the tires returned to normal.

The chest measured 2 meters long, 1.5 meters wide, and 1 meter high, plenty of space. She tried putting various miscellaneous items into it, and it actually worked!

Before, each type of miscellaneous item took up one slot. Now, many miscellaneous items fit into a single slot, what a huge saving!

She could mentally control the movement of items in and out of the wooden chest without having to take the chest out and rummage through it. Very convenient.

Having tasted success, Yan Lan made another chest. But this time, the two chests wouldn’t stack in the same slot. It seemed the game was very cautious and had preemptively set that restriction.

Once all the toilet paper was finished, she began organizing her backpack.

She had a total of ten slots. The first two slots contained wooden chests, one was empty, and the other held all her miscellaneous items, including: Mineral Water ×4, Purple Rice Bread ×4, Apple ×1, Instance Cards ×2, several rolls of toilet paper, and so on.

The third slot held Gasoline ×60 units, the fourth slot held Metal ×50, the fifth slot held Glass ×40, the sixth slot held Rubber ×40, the seventh slot held Electronic Components ×4, the eighth slot held the Crafting Table, and the remaining two slots were empty.

She was very satisfied with this capacity. Thinking of Shi Yuanyuan, who had suggested this method, she took out two rolls of toilet paper and sent them to him.

“Your method was very useful. Thank you!”

Shi Yuanyuan didn’t expect Yan Lan to implement it so quickly, let alone send him a thank-you gift!

He had just casually mentioned it, he never thought it would actually work. Delighted, he accepted the two rolls of toilet paper and carefully stored them in his backpack.

After organizing all her supplies, it was exactly 8:00 PM. Yan Lan listed all the toilet paper on the Trading Center.

She had obtained a total of 221 pieces of wood, from trading toilet paper, decomposing treasure chests, and picking them up along the road. After deducting the 21 pieces used to make the wooden chests and charcoal, she had made 200 rolls of toilet paper with the rest.

The news that Yan Lan would be selling toilet paper at 8 PM spread quickly. A wave of people flocked to the Trading Center, and the notification alerts on her end rang out incessantly.

She processed the earliest orders in chronological order.

The transactions with the first 100 players went very smoothly. They all traded with wood, so Yan Lan simply confirmed each trade. Within about five minutes, all those customers were taken care of.

Wood, as a raw material, could generate more value, so she still needed to stockpile it. But starting from then on, she wanted to trade for different things.

“Can I still trade with wood?”

“No. Use something else.”

“Why not? You were just accepting it!”

Yan Lan: “Because I don’t need wood anymore.”

“You’re doing business without integrity! Why could others trade but not me? You—”

Yan Lan ignored him and closed his chat box directly. In a situation like this, using baseless morality to condemn her, he was either ignorant or foolish. She had no need to waste words on such a person.

There were plenty of other players who wanted to trade with her. She moved on to the next person’s message.

“Can’t trade with wood anymore?”

She replied succinctly: “No.”

This player seemed quite sensible, they had probably read her latest announcement.

“So can I trade with Metal?”

Yan Lan: “Metal would be 4 pieces per roll. Glass and Rubber are 2 pieces per roll.”

By the same logic, Metal could be obtained by decomposing treasure chests more easily than Glass or Rubber, so its value was correspondingly lower.

The other party was very straightforward and sent over 4 Metal and 2 Glass.

“Alright then, I’ll take two rolls.”

Some customers, unwilling to part with their upgrade materials, offered other supplies instead.

“I have a blueprint. I’ll trade it for 50 rolls of toilet paper.”

Yan Lan’s mouth twitched. “That’s too many. No.”

“This is a clothing blueprint, it allows you to make clothes permanently. 50 rolls is a fair deal.”

Yan Lan really wanted that blueprint, but 50 rolls was indeed too many. She needed to negotiate the price down: “The blueprint is nice, but it’s useless to me!”

The girl on the other end fell into an eerie silence. Had she guessed wrong? Maybe Yan Lan hadn’t made the toilet paper, but had gotten it from supply points. If that was the case, this blueprint was just a worthless piece of paper.

Panicking at the thought that Yan Lan might refuse, the girl grew anxious: “Then how many rolls are you willing to trade?”

Yan Lan smiled to herself. “20 rolls.”

“Oh my god! You’re cutting way too deep. Add 10 more rolls, boss~”

Yan Lan: “No. 25 rolls max. I can’t go any higher.”

“Fine. Deal!”

Yan Lan was quite skilled at haggling. 25 rolls was exactly her target price. After all, clothing was just an accessory, it made sense for the price to be lower.

Toilet paper was a necessity, especially for women. In less than half an hour, all 200 rolls were sold out.

After the transactions were complete, Yan Lan organized her supplies. From this batch of toilet paper, she had obtained: Wood ×1000, Metal ×30, Glass ×20, Rubber ×20, plus two blueprints for outerwear (one male, one female), one sanitary pad blueprint, and miscellaneous items including a pen, a notebook, a towel, and a crossbody bag.

The most critical upgrade material, Electronic Components, she hadn’t managed to obtain. No matter how high a price she offered, the other players were unwilling to trade. Some hadn’t even found that material yet.

As for the blueprints she now had, the required materials were incomplete. The sanitary pad blueprint required cotton. The clothing blueprints required fabric, a broad category that included cotton, linen, various animal fibers, and more.

The notebook and pen, which others might see as burdens, were treasures to her. With these, her blueprint-drawing skills would likely improve significantly.

The crossbody bag she planned to use for carrying small miscellaneous items.

The day had ended perfectly, except she had completely forgotten about that player whose chat she had closed with a single click.

On a pitch-black road, Jiang Tiantian crouched on the ground, sneaking around by the faint light of the game interface. A gentle breeze blew past, and her bottom felt a chill, accompanied by a faint, inexplicable odor.

Pinching her nose with two fingers, she disgustedly shuffled her numb, cramped legs and struggled to move a meter away. Then she tirelessly continued asking in the group chat.

“Does anyone know? Why didn’t my transaction go through?”

“Are you all experiencing the same thing?”

“Can someone please explain?”

The group chat had nearly 10,000 people and was usually lively, but at this moment it was eerily quiet.

After a long wait, a guy named Shi Yuanyuan finally replied to her: “You’ve probably been blacklisted.”

Blacklisted!

With her beautiful, flower-like appearance, she had been blacklisted!

No wonder she could send messages at first, but after being read, she couldn’t chat anymore!

The few men who had been on good terms with her also hadn’t managed to get any toilet paper. Everyone else simply ignored her.

This Yan Lan was way too petty. All she had done was say a few bad things about her! She usually kept quiet, but behind the scenes, she had blocked her from trading! How infuriating!

After figuring out the reason, Jiang Tiantian was so angry she could have ground her teeth to dust.

Another cold breeze blew. The chill spread from her bottom up her spine, sending a creepy feeling through her.

Even though she knew she was the only one around, this was the first time she was squatting bare-bottomed on a main road. She couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching her from behind.

With no other choice, Jiang Tiantian grimaced and took three leaves out of her backpack. After a moment’s thought, she put one leaf back.

Her bottom was small. If she used them sparingly, two leaves should be enough.
