“Oh my god! The Jin Gang just dropped a huge batch of supplies, charcoal, hand warmers, toilet paper! Everyone, go grab them fast!”
As soon as this was posted, players immediately voiced their doubts.
“Really? Did they get a crafting table too?”
“That can’t be right. Yan Lan got hers from game rewards. How did they get theirs? Are they really that lucky?”
Jiang Tiantian, lurking behind the screen, watched the players’ naive reactions with great satisfaction.
“As the vice president of the Jin Gang, Jiang Tiantian, I’ll answer this question for everyone.”
“What that friend said is true. Not only are we releasing these three types of supplies, but our prices are also very low compared to certain leading merchants. Charcoal and toilet paper are only 3 wood each, and hand warmers are only 2 metal.”
“Currently, the players handling sales for us are Jin Buwei, Jiang Tiantian, Zhang Shiyi, and Wang Shier. Please use our official platform and don’t fall for scams.”
Finally, Jiang Tiantian cheekily added,
“First come, first served~”
As if on cue, someone immediately jumped in to support them.
“Everyone, look! This is the charcoal I bought from the Jin Gang. It’s really only 3 wood. Yan Lan was charging 10 wood, so greedy!”
“Second that. I bought some too. The Jin Gang really lives up to its motto: helping the poor and needy far and wide.”
“Boycott Yan Lan! Support the Jin Gang!”
“Boycott Yan Lan! Support the Jin Gang!”
Yan Lan watched the whole scene unfold, dumbfounded. Were they chameleons?
Just a moment ago, it was “Yan Lan is great! Yan Lan is awesome!” Now they were starting to boycott her.
Shi Yuanyuan, feeling the impact on his end, anxiously messaged her: “Yan Lan, did you see that? The Jin Gang just dropped a bunch of supplies, exactly the same as ours! Aren’t they just copying us?”
Yan Lan: “So what if they’re copying? Are we going to tell them they can’t sell?”
Shi Yuanyuan: “That’s one way to look at it, but they’re selling so cheap, they’re deliberately stealing our business! You know what? No one’s coming to me for charcoal anymore. And some people are even coming just to curse me out!”
Shi Yuanyuan’s frustration was palpable even through the screen. Yan Lan chuckled softly: “Yeah, they’re selling that cheap.”
Shi Yuanyuan: “Super cheap. I’ve never seen prices that low.”
“!!”
“Holy crap, why did I just realize that now?”
Yan Lan: “Now you get it. Oh well, it’s fine. You were busy all morning and didn’t have time to look for treasure chests. Now you’ve got some free time.”
Shi Yuanyuan scratched his head: “You’re really thoughtful. Alright then, I’ll get back to work~”
Yan Lan reached out and closed the chat panel: “Go on~ go on~”
After enjoying a satisfying lunch, her health returned to 100.
Having been cooped up in the car all day, she was feeling restless and decided to take a walk outside.
But it was freezing outside, and she was only wearing a thin T-shirt. So she climbed back into the rear seat, ready to make some clothes. She had recently acquired several bolts of fabric, and she also had clothing blueprints.
She placed the two blueprints onto the crafting table, along with two bolts of fabric.
After the sound of fabric being cut, two jackets appeared on the crafting table, one for men, one for women, each with a different style.
She sent the men’s jacket to Shi Yuanyuan and put on the remaining one for herself. The jacket was a black-and-white casual style, two layers thick. Although it wasn’t a padded cotton coat, it was still much warmer than before.
Wrapped in the jacket and with a hand warmer tucked against her chest, she opened the door. A wave of cold air hit her face.
She exhaled, and her breath instantly condensed into white mist that drifted away.
If the first day was already 10°C, the temperature would likely drop further in the coming days. She needed to stock up on more cold-weather supplies.
Having been sitting in the off-road vehicle all morning, and with the deaths that morning weighing on her mind, her head was in a fog. Now, with the sudden drop in temperature, she suddenly realized she had forgotten something important.
“How could I forget this!” Yan Lan slapped her forehead and called out, “System, check in!”
The check-in system didn’t give her a hard time today, it simply asked her to take a photo with the distant snowy mountains, and that was enough to pass.
【Check-in successful!】
【Obtained item: Women’s Thermal Underwear Blueprint (Permanent).】
A flash of white light, and a blueprint floated before her.
The off-road vehicle was at LV3. Upgrading to the next level required Glass ×500, Metal ×500, Rubber ×500, and Electronic Components ×100. She had traded for quite a few of the first three materials in the morning, reaching 500 was easy. The real difficulty was the Electronic Components.
After taking stock of her supplies and getting some fresh air, Yan Lan got back into the car, ready to set off. She planned to spend the afternoon searching for treasure chests.
The car had just been aired out, so the interior temperature was low. She reluctantly turned on the air conditioning again, intending to turn it off once the temperature rose.
Being this stingy with gasoline, really, who else could compare?
“Beep! Beep! Beep!”
That was the sound of a treasure chest being detected. She leaned closer to the display and saw it was a Silver Treasure Chest, neither good nor bad luck.
She tucked the hand warmer into her clothes, tightened her jacket, and got out of the car.
The chest was by the side of the road. She walked toward it, stepping on the accumulated snow. Whether it was her imagination or not, the snow seemed a bit thicker than yesterday.
The chest lay in the snow. She crouched down to pick it up when she suddenly noticed a small, furry creature moving not far away.
Its entire body was pure white, almost blending into the snow, which was why she hadn’t spotted it at first.
“Jiji~ Jiji~”
It looked in her direction, a pair of small, moist eyes staring straight at her.
Yan Lan’s eyes instantly sparkled. She waved at it: “Hey there, little cutie. What are you doing here?”
“Jiji~ Jiji~”
The little white fluffball kept calling out, looking pitiful.
Yan Lan was completely charmed. She wished she could step out of this invisible barrier and hug it. Leaning against the edge of the road, she gazed affectionately at the white fluffball: “What’s wrong? Do you need help? But I can’t get over there, you know.”
The white fluffball seemed to understand her words. From under its round, ball-like fur, it extended two tiny paws and slowly crawled toward her.
Seeing it move, her heart began to pound. Was it trying to come over?
Yan Lan stared at it without blinking, her hands clenched into fists as she cheered it on.
Ten steps, nine steps… and then the final step, it crossed the boundary of the road and crawled right up to her feet!
“Jiji~ Jiji~”
Yan Lan snapped out of it, suddenly coming back to her senses as she looked down at the fluffy ball at her feet.
【Snow Spirit: A little spirit born in the snowfield.】
It was actually a little spirit, no wonder it looked so dreamy.
She reached out, gently picked it up, and held it in front of her eyes.
“Oh my god! You actually came over! That’s amazing, little treasure!”
Yan Lan brought it into the off-road vehicle and placed it on the passenger seat. Seeing that it was still chirping nonstop, she took out a packet of purple rice bread and fed it.
Bite after bite, such a tiny little thing actually ate a whole face-sized piece of purple rice bread. It must have been really hungry.
“Since I met you in the snow, I’ll call you Xueqiu (Snowball).”
Yan Lan gently rubbed its soft little body: “Xueqiu~”
“Jiji~ Jiji~”
Xueqiu happily nodded its head, as if it really liked the name.
With Xueqiu’s company, the afternoon passed quickly.
She packed up her supplies, then, as usual, exercised on the road for an hour. The weather was harsh, but she couldn’t stop training.
After that, she placed the water collector next to the off-road vehicle to collect some rainwater. Then she got into the back seat to make charcoal. The snowy, icy weather would continue for another 15 days, so charcoal production needed to keep going.
Making one piece of charcoal took 10 seconds. She spent nearly three hours turning 1,000 pieces of wood into charcoal.
When it was all done, it was pitch dark outside. Yan Lan was exhausted. She added a piece of charcoal to the hand warmer, hugged Xueqiu, and fell into a deep sleep.
On some unknown stretch of road, a young man with a bowl-cut hairstyle couldn’t rest. In one hand he held a piece of wood, in the other a piece of charcoal, mechanically producing them over and over.
