Hermione Pays for the Cake and Earns Him Another Chest

However, this favorable impression did not last very long.

Just as she turned around to leave, Blake suddenly spoke again.Full novel: Hogwarts: Driving Hermione Crazy, Looting Legendary Treasures! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Oh, right. I transferred my strawberry cake to you, so…”

“The price is two pounds and eighty pence.”

“Just give me the money.”

“After all, I bought this cake from the shopkeeper.”

Hermione stared at Blake’s outstretched hand, her eyes gradually widening.

She wondered if she had heard him wrong.

Wasn’t this guy going to treat her to the cake?

She still had to pay?

Hermione suddenly remembered that from beginning to end, Blake had only said he was “transferring” the cake to her.

He had never said he was giving it to her for free.

In other words, the whole idea that he was treating her had been nothing more than her own assumption.

Hermione’s mood instantly plummeted.

Anger and embarrassment surged together.

At her age, Hermione cared deeply about her dignity.

How could she possibly handle such an embarrassing misunderstanding?

“Um…”

Hermione’s voice trembled slightly as she spoke.

Seeing the expression on her face change so quickly, Blake knew that his plan had worked.

Then, without mercy, he added another push.

“Don’t tell me… you thought I was going to treat you for free?”

“Cough. In that case, I won’t charge you.”

“At worst, Mrs. Marianne will scold me a few times when I get back.”

Blake spoke with complete sincerity, an expression of slight helplessness on his face.

Hermione couldn’t take it anymore.

“No! It’s fine! I have money!”

“Wait a second!”

She hurriedly pulled out all the bills and coins from her pocket.

Without even counting the amount properly, she stuffed everything into Blake’s hand.

Afterward, she grabbed the cake, turned around, and ran.

Blake could clearly see that even the girl’s ears had turned red as she fled the shop.

“Wait! You gave me too much! A slice of cake doesn’t cost nearly this much!”

Blake called out from behind her.

Hermione seemed not to hear him at all.

Instead, she ran even faster, disappearing through the door in the blink of an eye.

“Ding! Detected an intense feeling of embarrassment from the target!”

“Ding! The system is issuing a reward!”

“Ding! Congratulations, Host. You have obtained a Silver Chest!”

“Uh…”

Blake looked down at the ten-pound note in his hand.

“Forget it. I’ll return it to her the next time I see her.”

He considered himself a man of principles.

What he really wanted was the chest.

As for pounds, they weren’t particularly useful to him.

He would let poor Hermione off the hook for today.

He couldn’t keep targeting the same person forever.

Satisfied, Blake returned to the counter, only to meet the shopkeeper’s astonished gaze.

It was obvious that even the shopkeeper had been stunned by what had just happened.

“Please pack everything up.”

Blake took one of the bills Hermione had stuffed into his hand and gave it to the shopkeeper, treating it as a packaging fee.

Afterward, he casually picked up a sweet and happily took a bite.

Didn’t he like sweets?

How could that be possible!

While waiting for the shopkeeper to finish packing everything, Blake shifted his attention to the system space.

Three chests radiating silver light were neatly arranged inside.

With anticipation filling his heart, he issued a command mentally.

“System, open the chests!”

“Ding! The host currently has three Silver Chests.”

“Ding! Would you like to open them now?”

“Open them all.”

Blake replied mentally.

“Ding! Opening the first Silver Chest!”

“Ding! Congratulations, Host. You have obtained the ability of photographic memory!”

“Ding! The host’s memory has been greatly enhanced!”

Blake suddenly stopped chewing.

When the notification ended, he felt a stream of icy water flow into his mind.

The memories that had once been blurry and disorganized seemed to be sorted out all at once.

At the same time, the improvement in his memory had reached an astonishing level.

Take Hermione, whom he had just met.

As long as Blake recalled what had happened moments ago, the entire scene would immediately appear in his mind.

He could clearly remember the clothes she had been wearing, how she had styled her hair, and even whether there were any tiny blemishes on her skin.

If he continued tracing his memories further into the past, the effect became even more astonishing.

Memories from his forgotten childhood had now become clear again.

Even the events from his previous life felt as vivid as though they had happened only yesterday.

What pleased Blake even more was that despite all the memories resurfacing, he felt neither a headache nor any confusion.

The memories seemed to be stored neatly, only surfacing when needed.

Therefore, even with such a vast amount of information, they placed no burden on his mind.

To obtain such a practical ability from just one Silver Chest was already incredible.

Blake immediately became excited.

And there were still two more chests of the same level in his possession.

Thinking about the rewards he would receive next, his anticipation grew even stronger.

Blake took another bite of the sweet before immediately ordering the system to open the second chest.
