In the dining room of the luxurious villa, Silver Wolf was just about to take a bite of a steamed bun when her phone rang.
She glanced at the caller ID and switched on speakerphone.
“Yo.
What is it?”
“Silver Wolf, we’re best bros, right?”
Li Yedao’s voice came through the speaker, his tone so solemn it was almost ridiculous.
Across the table, Firefly’s chopsticks paused for a moment.
Without making it obvious, her gaze drifted toward the phone.
Silver Wolf swallowed her bun and lazily leaned back in her chair.
“More or less.”
“What do you mean, ‘more or less’?
I genuinely consider you my best friend.”
There was a brief pause on the other end.
Then Li Yedao lowered his voice.
“What I’m about to tell you is terrifying.
Prepare yourself mentally.”
“Talk.”
Silver Wolf picked up a second bun.
“This thing’s getting cold.”
“I got forcibly kissed.
You have no idea what it was like when—”
Clatter!
A pair of chopsticks hit the table.
Before Silver Wolf could even react, something flashed before her eyes.
Firefly had already snatched the phone away.
She gripped it so tightly with both hands that her knuckles turned white.
“Yedao, did some strange woman do something to you?!”
Firefly’s voice was so urgent that even her pitch changed.
“Tell me who she is.
I’ll go right now and—”
“Holy crap, my phone!”
Silver Wolf lunged across the table and slapped a hand over Firefly’s mouth.
With her other hand, she snatched the phone back and rapidly said into the microphone, “Something came up over here.
Gotta go.”
Then she ended the call.
Only then did she let go and breathe out in relief.
“Good thing I hung up fast.”
Firefly had already pulled out her own phone and started scrolling through her contacts.
Silver Wolf immediately snatched that one away too.
End call.
Lock screen.
Straight into her own pocket.
“Firefly, calm down!”
“But…”
Firefly’s eyes were faintly red, and her chest rose and fell rapidly.
The thought of someone else touching him made something claw at her chest from the inside.
It itched.
It hurt.
The discomfort was so intense she couldn’t sit still.
Silver Wolf sighed.

Sit down first and take a deep breath.”
Firefly didn’t sit.
But at least she stopped trying to grab her phone.
She lowered her head, her bangs covering most of her face and hiding her expression.
Silver Wolf picked up another bun and stuffed it into her mouth.
She had known Firefly longer than almost anyone else, so she understood her friend far too well.
Her looks were flawless.
When she was gentle, she could practically melt a person.
But deep down…
She was a yandere.
Silver Wolf didn’t even need to guess what Firefly had been about to say earlier.
Find out the name and appearance of whoever had forcibly kissed Li Yedao.
Then make her disappear from the world.
And that wasn’t just something said in anger.
Silver Wolf genuinely believed Firefly was capable of doing it.
“Think about it properly.”
Silver Wolf took a bite of steak.

A groggy reply came from inside.

Li Yedao’s hair was sticking up in every direction, his eyes were barely open, and he leaned against the doorframe looking as though he might collapse back to sleep at any moment.
“Can I skip lunch?
I’m exhausted.”
Kafka’s gaze swept over him.
Wrinkled clothes.
Normal expression.
Nothing seemed particularly wrong.
But she had noticed it.
The interior lock had indeed been engaged.
“What happened?”
Her tone remained gentle, as though she were asking casually.
“Why did you lock the door?”
“Oh, that?”
Li Yedao rubbed his eyes.
He started to answer, then stopped halfway.

They lived under the same roof and saw each other every day.

Four dishes and a soup were already waiting on the dining table.

Kafka sat opposite him with her chin resting on one hand, watching him eat.

“You like my cooking that much?”
“Of course!
Kafka’s cooking is the best!”
Li Yedao answered without even looking up, his words muffled by food.
His mind was still busy figuring out how to correct Acheron’s warped understanding of common sense.
“I’m glad you like it.”
Kafka smiled, her voice becoming noticeably lighter.
“Tell me what you want next time.
If I don’t know how to make it, I’ll learn beforehand.”
“Hehe!
Kafka, you’re the best.”
“Oooh Kafka, you’re the beeeest”
A mocking imitation came from the doorway.
Jingliu pushed the door open, arriving just in time to hear that sentence.
Her gaze swept over the two people sitting close together.
Her expression immediately turned subtle.
“Aren’t you two sitting a little too close?”
“Are we?”
Kafka turned her head unhurriedly.
“I think it’s fine.”
“If anything, aren’t you sticking your nose in a little too far?”
Li Yedao buried his head in his food.
He had gotten greedy.
He should have picked up his bowl and fled back to his room before Kafka ever said that line.
Jingliu stared at Kafka for several seconds before abruptly redirecting the attack.
“Aren’t you worried she might put something in your food?”

Kafka narrowed her eyes.

Li Yedao frantically waved his hands, nearly flinging his chopsticks across the room.
“Kafka is definitely not that kind of person!”
Kafka nodded in satisfaction.
She turned her gaze back toward Jingliu with a faintly victorious smile.
Jingliu clicked her tongue.
“All you can do is bully him.”
“Still better than only daring to do things in secret.”
Kafka replied with a smile.
Their gazes met in midair.
Something seemed to crackle between them.
Caught in the middle, Li Yedao suddenly felt as though even his chopsticks had grown heavier.
Can’t you two just get along?!
Jingliu suddenly pulled out a chair and sat down directly beside him.
“Hey.
Stop hiding like a turtle.”
She turned to look at him, obvious provocation in her voice.
“Spineless boys who can’t make their own decisions aren’t very attractive, you know.”
Li Yedao set down his chopsticks and sighed.
“No matter who I side with, I’m wrong.
What do you expect me to do?”
“You two argue like this every single time, but neither of you ever thinks about how I feel sitting here in the middle.”
The corner of Jingliu’s mouth lifted slightly.
“See?
You can speak up after all.”
“You always keep everything bottled up, so I thought you were enjoying it.”
Li Yedao replied irritably,
“Then can you two stop arguing from now on?”
“No.”
“Tch.
