Three weeks had passed since Seiya had officially joined Anti-Entropy.
Right now, he was sitting in a cushy leather office chair, with Sirin comfortably sitting in his lap as he went through records.
He’d tried to familiarise himself with Anti-Entropy’s records and history after becoming an Enforcer at the behest of Welt, but it was just… supremely boring.
So, he’d called in reinforcements.
His motivation was reinvigorated as soon as Sirin sat in his lap and started cheering.
“Go, Brother!”
And:
“You got this, Seiya!”
All of it was… boring.
Most of the information worth knowing, he already knew from playing the game.
Which meant he could slack off for a while!
And so, he snuggled with Sirin while pretending to do work in his office.
The Herrscher was absolutely delighted by this.
Some interesting information was available to him.
Cocolia wasn’t an Enforcer yet.
Raiden Ryoma was, and his daughter had recently turned two.
Neat.
So that’s where he was in the story.
Ryoma had brought it up during small talk, impressed by a young man being brought up through the ranks so quickly.
He’d initially been somewhat dismissive due to his traditional outlook and had wondered why someone so young had risen through the ranks so quickly.
The baby pictures were adorable.
One Honkai-infused glare from Sirin had defused that bomb before it could even be crafted.
He’d been wary for the first few days, but on Dr Einstein’s recommendation, he’d spoken to Seiya once more.
The boy seemed… eager to get to know him.
Which was nice.
He didn’t seem cold or scheming.
Ryoma was quite fond of him for that and had invited him to visit Nagazora whenever he had the opportunity.
Seiya thought that had played out perfectly.
Baby Mei was sure to be adorable!
Cecilia was officially under his command as well, but since Anti-Entropy usually deployed mecha against Honkai beasts, her role as a warrior had been relatively tame.
She still went on missions with the Snow-Wolf Squad in Schicksal, but was now officially a member of Anti-Entropy and had been asked to switch uniforms as a formality.
As Seiya reminisced, Sirin twiddled her legs happily in his lap.
Cecilia entered the room carrying several stacks of papers in her hands, an endeared smile on her face at the closeness of the two siblings.
“Lord Seiya, I’ve brought the historical documentation that Mr Welt recommended.
Peruse it as you wish, please.”
She said as she carefully placed the documents on the side of the desk, making sure not to make a loud thump.
Then she retreated to the other side of the room and sat at a smaller desk facing him.
A golden plaque sat atop it.
Secretary
That’s right.
Formerly, a mighty S-rank Valkyrie wielding a Divine Key.
Now a genuine, bona fide secretary.
Some prideful people might have been offended by the designation.
Cecilia didn’t mind.
Life was far more peaceful this way.
There was no dirty work involved, and she still got her fix of combat through the collaborative missions with Schicksal.
Through Welt, Seiya had launched the program as a way to “foster cooperation” between the two rival organisations.
Though Cecilia suspected it was mostly a way for her to continue interacting with her squad.
Without strict quotas.
Shigure Kira had been delighted by this.
At first, she’d wanted to pummel Seiya into a wall, but after hearing about the vastly improved working conditions he’d provided, she genuinely liked him.
Cecilia no longer had bags under her eyes.
She seemed noticeably happier at work.
It was wonderful.
If Cecilia hadn’t stopped her, Kira might have transferred to Anti-Entropy as well.
Life was far more peaceful for Cecilia.
She had her daughter with her at the base.
And Siegfried could visit at least three times a week, spending an entire afternoon and evening there each time.
Sometimes the night as well.
“What?
They’re newlyweds.
I’m not taking the joy away from them so quickly.
Have your nights, as long as you can function in the morning.”
That had been Seiya’s primary argument when Dr Einstein questioned allowing Siegfried to stay overnight at Anti-Entropy headquarters.
She’d backed off after that, amused by his reasoning.
Speaking of the two of them, they were surprisingly fond of Seiya.
Apparently, he reminded them of a young Joachim.
Which was surprisingly comforting to think about.
Seiya thought Welt was a good man.
Any comparison to him was welcome.
As such, the two didn’t object to his appointment as an Enforcer either.
They were even slightly supportive after Welt had informed them that he planned to groom Seiya into his successor.
(Though Welt had neglected to mention that he’d never actually asked Seiya.)
And with the entire upper brass supporting him, he was given relative freedom to do whatever he wished, such as the cooperative scheme between Schicksal and Anti-Entropy.
It had seemed like a risky manoeuvre at first glance, but once the details had been established, it proved relatively harmless.
For Cecilia and those who knew her, it was simply a comfort.
For lower-ranking executives and ordinary members who weren’t privy to the inner workings, however, this new Enforcer was immensely impressive.
He had managed to establish good relations where the leadership of both organisations had failed for years.
Many members genuinely believed he had single-handedly reduced the animosity between two organisations that had been at odds for years within a matter of weeks.
Many of the lower-ranking members were less than pleased to see an upstart soar past them in the hierarchy.
Unfortunately for them, all three members of Anti-Entropy’s upper brass had thrown their support behind Seiya, leaving them little choice but to swallow their complaints.
Cocolia seemed rather interested in working under him.
In fact, when he’d put up the recruitment board within the Anti-Entropy network, the up-and-coming rising star had signed up almost immediately.
Seiya didn’t welcome her in straight away.
He had to keep up appearances, of course.
He had to pretend to review it for a week or two before signing off on it.
He also had to ensure Mei got the Gem of Conquest!
…Eventually.
Right now she was two.
Although he was sure Sirin would hand it over without hesitation if he asked, it was still a lot of work to get Ryoma to accept it in a way that wouldn’t seem completely absurd.
Uwah!
So much work!
That sounded like Future Seiya’s problem!
Seiya buried his face into Sirin’s upper back and snuggled into her hair as she giggled.
“Love you.”
He mumbled.
Sirin gasped in delight.
Cecilia smiled fondly, her pen stopping its scratching over the paperwork.
(Seiya had quietly hoisted all of his onto her without mentioning that it was supposed to be his responsibility.)
“Love you infinity, Big Brother!”
Sirin hugged him back with the force of an Arahato mech.
Seiya melted.
Forget about it.
For now, Sirin was enough.
At any point here!
