Evanescia Subdues the Herrscher of Thunder with a Single Strike 13: [13] – Mei Exposes Elysia’s True Identity.
Evanescia Subdues the Herrscher of Thunder with a Single Strike 1700 Words Chapter!
— “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, ELYSIA?
THAT’S MEI,” Kiana shot her a baffled look.
Elysia stayed silent.
She pressed her lips into a thin line, but her eyes, with the slightest trace of a smile, stayed locked on Raiden Mei.
Something was wrong…
As they drew closer, the overwhelming Herrscher aura around Mei grew stronger.
It crashed down on them in heavy waves—but the energy felt nothing like the Herrscher of the Void, whom Elysia had defeated before.
Miyabi Hoshimi also sensed the danger.
Years of kendo training and mental discipline had made her instincts much sharper than most people’s.
The Mei standing before them felt dangerous!!
Miyabi glanced at the empty stairwell out of the corner of her eye.
Quietly, she slid one foot back and placed her left hand on her katana’s hilt.
Shing.
She pushed the blade just a little from its sheath, showing a thin shine of cold steel.
The school building was far too quiet.
The rooftop door was wide open, but no zombies had come through.
Every other building they passed was full of groaning corpses and Honkai beasts.
Here, the silence felt even more threatening than a crowd of monsters.
“In any game, the boss always gets its own throne room,” Silver Wolf said as she hovered above the rooftop on her board.
“No low-level mobs anywhere in the building means a high-tier boss is camping here.
The zombies and Honkai beasts are keeping their distance on instinct.
They know they’ll draw its aggro if they get too close.” She blew a pale-blue bubble.
It popped sharply, and she slowly pulled the gum back into her mouth.
“Silver Wolf’s analysis is right.
If I had to guess, this high-tier boss is probably…” Evanescia’s voice faded, but she kept her eyes on Raiden Mei.
The answer was obvious.
“What are you all talking about?” Furina blinked her large, watery eyes and tilted her head, looking like the picture of innocence.
“…” Everyone fell silent.
She certainly lived up to her username—Silly Furina.
One moment, she could be surprisingly perceptive.
The next, she seemed incapable of recognizing danger even when it stood directly in front of her.
“Stop talking about Mei like she’s some kind of monster!” Kiana puffed out her cheeks and stepped forward, ready to defend her best friend.
Before she could say anything else, Raiden Mei suddenly shoved her away.
“KIANA!
RUN!” A powerful force hit Kiana before she could react.
She was lifted off her feet and thrown back, but Zane caught her safely in his arms.
It appeared that Mei’s Stigmata Persona was awakening again.
That other personality was deeply hostile to anything it saw as a threat to Raiden Mei.
It almost appeared earlier when Zane held her, but Kiana’s shouting stopped it.
Now, with pressure from Elysia and everyone’s tense mood, the Stigmata Persona had fully awakened.
“Aaaaaaaaargh!” Mei threw back her head and screamed.
Purple lightning exploded from her body, coiling around her like enraged serpents before lashing across the rooftop in every direction.
The air changed instantly, filling the area with the smell of ozone.
Sparks danced across the concrete, snapping underfoot as the group moved back to the edge of the roof and got ready to defend themselves.
Even Kiana, who was often clueless, realized how serious things were when she saw her best friend changing right in front of her.
The concentration of Honkai energy intensified.
Dense visible particles flooded the rooftop until the air itself seemed saturated with them.
‘This…
This is impossible.’ “Mei, what’s wrong with you?” Kiana asked, her voice trembling.
“Annoying pest.
Who gave you permission to speak the King’s name?” The reply came in a cold voice, with none of Mei’s typical warmth.
Several dark-purple spheres of lightning appeared next to her left arm, buzzing with bright arcs of electricity.
The Stigmata crest at her waist glowed, and a set of uneven, translucent Herrscher wings formed from the spheres, each made of pure electromagnetic force.
Bzzzt!
The lightning surrounding her grew fiercer.
As the electrical pressure peaked, dark storm clouds formed and covered the sky.
Lightning bolts ripped through the twisting darkness, turning the rooftop into a storm of thunder.
The Herrscher of Thunder slowly rose from the ground.
Her once gentle, deep-purple eyes were now cold, showing only contempt for everything around her.
She looked over the others, then fixed her gaze on Elysia.
“How amusing.
I never expected to encounter another Herrscher here.” BOOOOOOOOOOOMM!!
Elysia felt as if a thunderbolt had exploded inside her head.
Her grip on her pink longbow tightened.
The smile she had worn faded, and her eyes started to shake.
“What…
What did you just say?” Elysia had always known she was different.
She remembered that during the Vostok-51 incident years ago—the MOTH organization had been searching for her.
Part of her wanted to learn the truth about where she came from, but another part was afraid of what she might discover.
Worried that her past could put her hometown in danger, she decided to leave.
She hoped to explore the world, find out where she came from, meet others like herself, and maybe create a place where she belonged.
Even in her worst nightmares, she had never imagined she could be the one who brought Honkai to the world, destroyed civilizations, and became the source of humanity’s greatest fear and hatred.
A Herrscher…
“Mei!
What’s happening to you?” Kiana struggled against Zane’s hold as tears gathered in her eyes.
“Silence, mortals!” The Herrscher of Thunder looked at her without any emotion.
She lifted her right hand and pointed one finger.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMM!!
A tightly packed pillar of purple-white lightning, as wide as a barrel, crashed down toward Kiana and Zane.
Evanescia moved before the bolt could reach them.
She flicked her wrist, sending her pink ruler through the air in a smooth arc of cherry-blossom light that hit the falling pillar directly.
Shck!
With one easy swing, she deflected the lightning.
It shot past the rooftop and ripped through the school building across the street.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMM!!
“You are strong…” the Herrscher of Thunder said, narrowing her eyes.
“Now disappear!” Bolts of electricity shot from her body and formed a powerful electromagnetic shield around her.
A moment later, a huge spherical shockwave burst out from where she stood and spread across the rooftop.
BOOOOOOM!!
BOOOOOOM!!
BOOOOOOM!!
Furina and Kiana went pale as the wave of thunder rushed toward them.
“You don’t get many chances to come outside, so enjoy yourself,” Zane told Evanescia with a smile.
“Just knock her unconscious.” Evanescia returned his smile and nodded.
She swung the Spiritbranch of True Law upward at an angle, slicing straight through the growing electromagnetic pulse.
A burst of cherry-blossom light split the shockwave in two.
The halves turned away from the group and crashed through the school buildings on both sides of the rooftop.
BOOOOOOOOOOOM!!
Both five-story buildings crumbled into dust under the lightning blast.
Two wide, scorched trenches, each almost a hundred meters across, were left in the ground below.
The pink blade of light continued forward.
It moved diagonally through Raiden Mei, from her right shoulder to her left side, but left no physical wound.
“You…” The Herrscher of Thunder’s pupils contracted.
‘What kind of weapon is that?’ She already knew the pink-haired woman was strong.
Only now did she see just how much she had underestimated her.
‘Damn it!’ Her awakening remained incomplete.
She tried to launch a counterattack, but the moment had already passed.
Evanescia’s strike had not targeted her body.
It had struck directly at her mind.
Dizziness and sharp pain shot through the Herrscher’s mind, weakening her control just long enough for the real Mei to fight back and try to take her body back.
“Get some rest,” Evanescia said with a tender smile.
“Everything will be fine when you wake up.” She turned her wrist and lightly tapped the base of the Spiritbranch of True Law against the rooftop.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!
The reinforced concrete split apart.
A bright green sapling sprang up through the opening, full of life.
It grew quickly, its trunk thickening as twisting branches reached for the sky.
Layer after layer of lush leaves unfurled.
In moments, a huge ancient ginkgo tree, over a dozen meters tall, stood in the middle of the rooftop.
Its wide canopy stretched out like a giant umbrella.
Soft vines grew from its branches and wrapped tightly around the floating Herrscher of Thunder.
Pink light moved through the tree as it started to pull the Honkai energy from her.
As the energy left her, the ginkgo tree grew even brighter.
Its leaves turned from green to shining gold, making the tall tree look like a huge flame under the dark stormy sky.
“…” The Herrscher of Thunder did not make a sound.
The purple lightning in her eyes faded, then disappeared completely.
Her head slumped to one side as consciousness left her body.
Once its job was done, the ginkgo tree broke apart into countless golden lights and faded away.
“MEI!” Kiana tore herself free from Zane’s arms and rushed forward, catching Raiden Mei just as she fell from the sky.
“She’s fine.
I only knocked her unconscious,” Evanescia assured her as she put away her long ruler and gently patted Kiana’s shoulder.
“She should wake up in a few hours.” A short distance away, Elysia remained frozen in place.
Her head was down, and her long pink hair hid most of her face.
No one could see her expression, but her shaking shoulders said more than words.
Zane released a quiet sigh.
He walked over and rested a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“Let’s go.
It’s getting dark, and we need to find somewhere to rest.” He paused, giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze.
“We can talk about everything else once we’re settled.” —
