Everyone was already annoyed at being disturbed in the middle of the night. With Huang Yuan’s words added in, they became even more convinced that Jiang Mo was just a clueless rich girl—good for nothing.

Another voice chimed in, questioning, “Yeah, where are the zombies?”

Jiang Zhe frowned at the scene. What kind of behavior was it, ganging up on a single girl like this? “They’re climbing on the walls. Go look for yourselves. Jiang Mo was trying to warn you out of goodwill—don’t end up dying without even knowing how.”Full novel: Hothouse Flower? With Jiang Zhe speaking up, the crowd’s irritation eased a little. Some people couldn’t help but lean out the window to check.

Where were the zombies?

The walls were bare—there wasn’t even a shadow.

“Jiang Zhe, you don’t have to speak up for her. She just got scared in the middle of the night and started yelling—no manners at all. And where exactly are these ‘zombies’ on the wall?”

Hearing that, both Jiang Mo and Jiang Zhe froze for a moment, then hurried to the window to look down again.

There was indeed nothing there.

They exchanged a glance, both seeing the same deep suspicion in each other’s eyes.

Huang Yuan crossed her arms arrogantly. “Jiang Mo, you woke everyone up in the middle of the night. Don’t you even know how to apologize?”

“I…” Jiang Mo wanted to say that she really had seen them. She pressed her lips together and lowered her voice. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to—but there really were zombies climbing the wall.”

“Alright,” Zhuo Hao stepped in to smooth things over, smiling at everyone. “Since she’s apologized, let’s all go back to sleep. Jiang Mo was just acting out of concern for everyone’s safety—she was just a bit rash.”

Clearly, Zhuo Hao didn’t believe it either. Zombies climbing walls? That was going too far.

The next day.

At lunch, Jiang Mo carried her food carefully, but Huang Yuan walked straight into her on purpose.

The food spilled all over the floor, and oil splattered across Jiang Mo’s dress. Yet Huang Yuan showed no remorse—instead, she blamed her. “Jiang Mo, with all that space, you still had to bump into me?”

Everyone in the dining hall turned to look.

Hot soup had splashed onto Jiang Mo’s hand, leaving her fair fingers red. She lowered her head and picked up a shard of broken glass from the floor, holding the sharp edge outward.

She didn’t like causing trouble—but she wasn’t afraid of it either.

Huang Yuan looked down at her and let out a mocking snort. “What, Miss Jiang is going to eat food off the floor? Why don’t you call your daddy to send you more? Oh wait—maybe he’s already turned into a zombie. Otherwise, how could he leave his precious daughter struggling here?”

“Maybe he’s already been eaten by zombies. After all, your crippled mother is just as much of a burden as you are.”

Her words were vicious. Someone nearby stepped in and tugged at Huang Yuan. “Xiaoyuan, enough. Don’t go too far.”

Everyone knew that they were able to stay here because of Jiang Mo. The food they were eating had been paid for by her father.

Jiang Mo herself kept a low profile. She was kind, polite, never picked fights, and helped when she could.

She was easy to get along with.

Huang Yuan shoved the person aside, sneering. “What, just because you’ve eaten her food for a few days, you have to bow down to her? Look at the situation now—she’s no longer some rich young lady. She’s just a useless waste. Besides crying, what can she even do?”

“Huang Yuan, you—”

Jiang Mo’s fingertips grew cold. Before Huang Yuan could spit out more filth, Jiang Mo swung her hand across her face.

She had hidden the shard of glass in her palm, and it cut into her own skin as she struck.

Huang Yuan was stunned, staring at Jiang Mo in disbelief, her face twisting with rage. “You actually… you dare—”

“Ah! Your face!” someone suddenly screamed.

Startled, Huang Yuan finally noticed the sharp pain on her cheek. She reached up—her fingers came away bloody.

“Ahhh—!”

“Jiang Mo actually dared to do that…”

“That’s intentional injury!”

“She looks so weak, but she’s so ruthless—just a few words, and she slashed someone’s face!”

Jiang Mo ignored the stares around her. Her gaze was cold enough to make people shiver. “Next time you can’t control your mouth, it won’t just be your face.”

With that, she picked up a bowl of hot soup nearby and splashed it at Huang Yuan. “That’s returning what you gave me. I, Jiang Mo, do things openly and honestly—I don’t stoop to your filthy tricks. You’re just bitter because the person you like confessed to me. Acting all high and mighty, pretending to be pure and above worldly things—if you’ve got the guts, get out of here. Don’t let me see you again.”

“Who do you think you are?”

As she spoke, Jiang Mo took a bottle of milk from her pocket and handed it to someone nearby. “If it’s not enough, let me know.”

The person accepted it quickly, nodding. “It’s enough, it’s enough.”

Clearly, they found the whole scene extremely entertaining.

Even a timid kitten will bare its claws when pushed too far.

“Jiang Mo, you won’t die well!” Huang Yuan, furious and humiliated, tried to grab someone else’s plate, but they quickly dodged. “Hey! Damaging shared property means you have to pay!”

“Then why doesn’t she have to pay?”

“Her father practically rented out this place. If you’ve got the ability, ask your dad to do the same,” Jiang Zhe said, arms crossed as he stood nearby. “Who knows what kind of scheme you had—deliberately bumping into her and then acting like the victim.”

“You just think Jiang Mo is easy to bully because she doesn’t act superior. If I had a father like hers, I’d have kicked troublemakers out on the first day.”

“You—you—” Huang Yuan stomped angrily. “You cowards! What did you all say about Jiang Mo behind her back? Why are you all hiding now?”

Jiang Mo was beautiful, came from a good family, and had parents who adored her. Sometimes, her innocent expressions made people accuse her of pretending. Behind her back, people often insulted her.

Jiang Mo knew all of it.

She had heard those insults more than once, but she never cared. People could say whatever they wanted—she would just live her own life.

She had never told her parents, nor her boyfriend. But she knew those people would eventually get what they deserved.

She had a fiercely protective, domineering boyfriend.

But now, with the sudden zombie outbreak, all communication had been cut off. Lu Yanci couldn’t deal with them.

Jiang Mo could handle it herself.

She tossed the shard of glass away and looked at Huang Yuan’s twisted, furious face. Calmly, she said, “Whatever happened before, if you target me again without reason, I won’t hold back. I’ve never learned to control my strength—next time, I can’t guarantee you’ll still be alive.”

“My father isn’t here. The police aren’t coming either. So you’d better be careful.”

She looked like a delicate princess—but at this moment, she was terrifying.

It wasn’t that she was afraid.

She had simply never bothered with them before.
