House of The Dragon:The Rise of the Emperor of the Seven Kingdoms

Looking at the Dragonpit before her, Gael felt a touch of fear; the entrance looked like a massive mouth waiting for her to enter so it could devour her. Suddenly, she felt a hand holding hers and looked to the side, where she saw Maekar looking at her with an encouraging and confident gaze.

Squeezing his hand tightly, Gael looked at the entrance with a hesitant gaze, but for some reason, looking into his eyes, she managed to gather a courage she never truly had.

’Gael, you are a dragon, the blood of the Conqueror runs in your veins, you cannot disappoint Maekar.’ Showing a determined look, she held Maekar’s hand even tighter and moved forward, pulling her future husband toward the entrance.

Gael and Maekar descended the steps. Torches lit the way, but as time passed, the brick walls ceased to exist. In their place, walls carved from black rock took over.

"It took thirteen years to build. It was supposed to have been done sooner, but Maegor the Cruel killed all the builders after the construction of the Red Keep," Maekar commented to Gael as he looked around with a touch of curiosity.

Gael winced at the mention of Maegor. If there was a taboo name at court, it was Maegor. The hatred, anger, and resentment Jaehaerys held toward Maegor were so great that no one dared even mention his name.

Passing through a side corridor made for humans, Maekar felt the wind ruffle his hair, and around the corner, a large stone dome could be seen. It was just one of the dragons’ "rooms."

Gael also looked at the large dome and couldn’t help but freeze. A giant could be seen lying on a mound of blackened stones.

It was Dreamfyre, or in High Valyrian, Ēdrurzys.

Dreamfyre was a slender female dragon. Her coloring was primarily light blue with silver markings. She had silver crests and light blue wings. Her length reached sixty meters, not counting the tail. She was a true adult and powerful dragon.

As if sensing their scent, the dragon raised her massive head. Her double eyelids blinked, and the dragon’s gaze sharpened. Dreamfyre rose from the ground and bared her teeth in a threatening gesture.

Gael couldn’t move before the enormous beast. Even though she had already ridden an even larger dragon, Bahamut. However, Gael knew Bahamut wouldn’t hurt her, but the same couldn’t be said for Dreamfyre.

Maekar smiled at Dreamfyre’s threatening gesture; he took a step forward and pulled Gael toward the beautiful dragon.

Dreamfyre couldn’t believe the audacity of that two-legged sheep. The sheep was not afraid of her; she could sense it through the scent. This made the massive dragon look at Maekar with a touch of bestial curiosity, as if seeing a curious prey.

"Rȳbās! Dohaerās, Dreamfyre." About a meter from Dreamfyre, Maekar spoke in High Valyrian.

(Note: Obey! Serve, Dreamfyre.)

Maekar’s Charm A didn’t work only on people; even animals could be attracted by Maekar’s charm, which could be seen by the untamable horse he broke when he was about seven years old.

"Gael, speak for yourself and show that you have dragon blood running through your veins," Maekar said in a calm tone. He let go of Gael’s hand and stepped back, leaving the girl and the dragon face to face.

Gael could feel the terrible heat emanating from the beautiful dragon before her. The smell of sulfur, which could make an ordinary person feel uncomfortable, was strangely pleasant to her senses.

Taking a deep breath, she spoke aloud: "Rȳbās! Dohaerās, Dreamfyre."

Dreamfyre’s response was a deafening roar; the dragon took a step forward and stood just inches from Gael. After decades trapped in the Dragonpit, Dreamfyre’s temperament had become more violent than ever.

Unexpectedly, Gael did not flinch and stared stubbornly at Dreamfyre, looking directly into the beautiful dragon’s eyes. She was transmitting her determination, desire, and sadness.

Dreamfyre closed her mouth, blinked, and looked directly into Gael’s eyes. After a long silence, in which only Gael’s breathing and Dreamfyre’s breathing hung in the air, the dragon finally moved. But instead of retreating, she advanced gently, touching Gael’s body with her snout.

A smile appeared on Gael’s lips; she didn’t hesitate and hugged Dreamfyre’s snout. She now understood the bond between Maekar and Bahamut; she could feel Dreamfyre’s mood, just as Dreamfyre could feel hers.

Seeing the scene, Maekar smiled with satisfaction. Now, House Targaryen had its seventh dragonrider!

Jaehaerys, Alysanne, Daemon, Baelon, Maekar, Rhaenys, and now, Gael!

"Maekar, she wants to fly." Stroking the beautiful silver-blue scales, Gael spoke in a soft tone. She could feel Dreamfyre’s yearning for freedom. It was a feeling so strong that she couldn’t wait any longer to ride Dreamfyre.

"Then let’s fly together," Maekar said with a smile. "I’ll ask the Dragonkeepers to get Dreamfyre’s saddle."

Gael watched as the Dragonkeepers placed the saddle on Dreamfyre. Looking to the side, she saw the massive platinum/gold dragon. Sitting in the saddle, at the junction between the neck and body, her future husband smiled at her.

"Let’s give our dear king a show, my beautiful princess," Maekar said with a laugh. He really wanted to see Jaehaerys’s expression when he saw Gael mounted on a dragon.

Showing a solemn expression, Gael nodded her head. Although she respected her father, she didn’t want to marry anyone but Maekar.

Suddenly, the Keepers finished saddling and stepped away. Gael saw this and approached Dreamfyre; she climbed the ropes to the saddle, where she fastened the belt around her waist and looked at Maekar with an excited gaze.

Dreamfyre, who was already fed up with waiting, rose from the ground, making Gael’s eyes widen. Seeing the world from atop a dragon is totally different, especially when you are the Dragonrider. This feeling of power and superiority left the young woman breathless. The blood inside her seemed to boil like never before.

With a few steps, Dreamfyre took flight, rising toward the sky.

Bahamut followed close behind with his powerful wings. Both dragons let out roars and flew over the city extremely fast.

The people of King’s Landing heard the sounds in the sky and looked up; they exclaimed at the sight of two dragons flying side by side above the city.

Maekar, who was riding Bahamut, made the dragon head toward the Red Keep. Gael showed a confused expression but followed behind.

Both dragons now flew around the Red Keep, the sound of flapping wings spreading through the castle.

In the King’s room, Jaehaerys reached the balcony and looked at the sky with a calm and deep gaze. Seeing Dreamfyre flying around the castle and the long-haired figure sitting in the saddle, he didn’t need to be a genius to know it was his daughter.

"Is this your revenge against my orders? Making Gael a dragonrider?" Jaehaerys murmured in a calm tone. He had to admit: Gael becoming a Dragonrider was something he never thought would happen. His daughter was too shy and gentle for a dragon.

However, looking at the beautiful silver-blue dragon flying around the castle, the king’s expression remained unchanged.

Turning his gaze to the gigantic platinum-gold dragon, Jaehaerys showed a cold smile. It had been a long time since anyone truly dared to challenge him.

Yes. In Jaehaerys’s eyes, this was Maekar’s declaration of war. He was telling the world of his existence.

Jaehaerys felt no fear or apprehension; he would be crazy if he truly feared a boy who hadn’t even become an adult. However, he was a king who did not like to be crossed.
