House of The Dragon:The Rise of the Emperor of the Seven Kingdoms

In Maekar’s room.

Maekar could be seen sitting in a chair around a round table on his room’s balcony. His hair fluttered gently in the wind. His violet eyes were narrowed as he enjoyed the gentle breeze. Fortunately, he was at a higher altitude, so the smell of King’s Landing did not reach him.

He was wearing black clothes with red tones, making his appearance more solemn and majestic than usual. Despite being fourteen years old, he looked seventeen; he was tall and had a strong, angular face.

The Eternal Arms Mastery from the Fate Universe changed his body to be perfect for handling all possible weapons.

Maekar was not as worried as Gael or Alysanne; on the contrary, he was very calm, viewing the overall scenario of the entire situation with a calm and calculating gaze. He could predict Jaehaerys’s moves, for the Old King was truly old.

Old age had left him more indecisive than when he was young. After all, a normal king would never have agreed to give the power of choosing the crown prince to the nobles. It was practically showing—demonstrating—weakness to a pack of hyenas thirsty for blood and flesh. If he were Jaehaerys, he would have simply chosen Viserys right away; he wouldn’t have held the Great Council of 101.

However, it was exactly because of this indecision that Maekar dared to ask Baelon for the throne. He knew Jaehaerys would never exile him without a truly valid reason. The old king was so indecisive that he didn’t dare exile him simply because he wanted to.

Maekar was using the king’s indecision as a great opportunity. After all, nothing was more glorious than defeating the best king this continent had ever seen. One could say this political war was a ladder to the top.

It would not only show bravery and intelligence but also strength and heroism to the nobles. It was the greatest marketing campaign Westeros had ever seen.

Maekar was determined to be king at the Council of 101; for that, he had to gain enough prestige for the nobles to vote for him, all in less than a year.

Of course, Maekar himself couldn’t have predicted that Jaehaerys would react so strongly. He thought the old man would act out of anger, but he didn’t think it would reach the point of using his own daughter as a pawn in this dangerous game.

Suddenly, as he brought a glass of wine to his lips, the room door opened and Gael entered with a large smile on her lips. The young woman wore pants and a simple blouse, with gloves on her hands, showing she had just returned from a dragon flight.

After claiming Dreamfyre, Gael had changed a lot; the dragon gave a boost to Gael’s confidence that even Maekar hadn’t expected. However, Maekar saw this very positively. After all, although he didn’t mind if Gael were just a pretty vessel, he wouldn’t mind having a woman he could trust with certain matters.

Another thing he noticed was that Gael had become physically stronger; she no longer had the somewhat fragile appearance she had before.

"Maekar." Seeing Maekar drinking wine on the balcony, Gael approached and, after a shy kiss on his cheek, sat in the chair beside him.

"You smell like dragon," Maekar said with a laugh. The smell of sulfur and ashes was quite pronounced on Gael, showing the girl had been flying on her dragon moments ago.

"It’s fun to fly, besides being incredibly liberating!" Gael spoke with a smile; she never thought having a dragon would be so good. Now, she regretted not trying to claim a dragon sooner.

Maekar smiled and found her animated appearance adorable; it was very good to see the shy and sweet Gael acting with such vivacity, just as a young woman in her twenties should. Of course, the girl still blushed at the slightest intimacy between them, which made Maekar want to see her reactions all the time.

"I heard Loreon’s son is coming to King’s Landing," Maekar spoke with a smile, looking at King’s Landing with a calm gaze.

Gael’s smile vanished, replaced by visible anger on her face. "How does he dare? He is the heir to Casterly Rock; how can he be such a despicable, vile, and opportunistic man?!"

"Why would he refuse? He gains a beautiful princess as a wife, plus she’s a Dragonrider," Maekar said in a slightly colder tone. Originally, he wanted to kill Tymond Lannister to ward off any other suitor Jaehaerys chose, but he thought of something that would make him the greatest knight in Westeros, besides creating a true legend that would be passed down through the centuries.

Maekar changed his mind thinking about this and chose to hold a duel for any greedy man who dared accept the King’s proposal. He would kill them one by one, but not in secret—rather, before the people and the entire realm.

Jaehaerys would think he was going to be impulsive, but he was calmer than everyone. And this game was something he would use to elevate his reputation to the extreme.

"Humph." Gael couldn’t help but snort coldly as she looked at the calm Maekar. "You seem calm, Maekar."

"Of course I’m calm. I’ll kill any suitor Jaehaerys chooses; I’ll challenge anyone and kill him under the eyes of the entire realm. Let everyone see the determination of my love for you." Maekar held Gael’s hand and spoke in a gentle tone. His violet eyes looked directly into Gael’s.

Not hearing an answer, Maekar was confused, but when he met Gael’s eyes, he swallowed hard. What kind of look was that?

There was a feeling of warm passion and an almost supernatural desire to devour him in her eyes. Honestly, any man would be a bit frightened by that look of extreme dependence and boundless possessiveness.

Maekar perhaps realized he had just said he would make the greatest declaration of love in history for Gael. Unlike him, who saw only the benefits to his reputation he would gain by doing so, Gael simply saw it as the greatest act of love anyone had ever done for her in this life.

In a quick jump, Gael sat facing Maekar on his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck and didn’t hesitate to claim the lips she so desired. One of Maekar’s hands automatically rested on her waist, while the other slid over her back and reached her soft and, though small, simply perfect buttocks.

Gael broke the kiss and kissed Maekar’s entire face while saying "I love you" non-stop.

Maekar was stunned for a moment and began to laugh; her infinite kisses tickled him and filled him with boundless tenderness.

"I love you too, Gael." Tenderly kissing her lips in a chaste and innocent kiss, Maekar spoke with a smile on his lips.

Gael felt submerged in a sweet and warm feeling; she just wanted to drown in this feeling that left her breathless. She hugged Maekar as if she wanted to merge with him and rested her head on his shoulder.

"What if you get hurt?" Gael asked in a worried tone.

Maekar just laughed and rubbed his nose against Gael’s playfully. Looking into Gael’s eyes, he spoke in a solemn tone:

"I am inexperienced when it comes to political intrigue and don’t come close to Jaehaerys’s experience, but when it comes to battle, I dare say I am first. Your man is practically a killing machine with any sword in his hand."

"Just trust me, and you’ll become the most prestigious woman since Visenya, Rhaenys, and Alyssanne." Maekar spoke in a tone that was more than solemn, it was a promise.

"No matter who it is, they will die upon my steel, and their blood will stain this land."

Seeing Maekar acting so confident, arrogant, and dominating, Gael felt Maekar was more handsome than ever. Almost like a god walking the earth.

"I believe in you." Perhaps it was the mind of a young woman in love and the impulsiveness of the dragon blood running in her veins. Gael spoke with a tone of blind confidence, as if Maekar were capable of killing every man in the world.
