Counting off the time, walking and stopping by turns, Lin Muyan finally couldn’t go on, and halted to rest.
She suddenly remembered the Stamina Cola in her space, and pulled it out on a whim.
She was thirsty and worn out now and really did need to replenish her energy, and this was a perfect chance to test the cola’s effect.
Lin Muyan elegantly took one small swig straight from the bottle, then screwed the cap back on, not daring to drink more.
In no time she felt strength surging up through her limbs and bones, an instant full-HP revival.
“Wow, it really is this amazing!” If this stuff went on the market, it’d probably get snapped up in a frenzy. She wondered whether there were stimulants or something in it, in any case she now felt like a raging bull, like she could leap up and stomp out a brisk five-kilometer march on the spot.
Unsurprisingly, the bullet comments had their defenses broken, and Lin Muyan was used to it by now.
They were always cursing and breaking down at the same time, she had no idea where they found so many defenses to break, day in and day out.
【Such precious Stamina Cola, and she just downs it all fresh and breezy like that? Will somebody please rein her in?!】
【I can’t take it anymore, this wretched girl living so cushy, there’s no justice!】
【She drank Stamina Cola, she’s not about to march straight to the Shen house in one go and make trouble for our Jiaojiao, is she?】
【Damn, the nerve of this shameless thing. If she really dares go back to the Shens to be a nuisance again, I, I, I, argh, I can’t reach my hand through the screen…】
A sense of helplessness tormented them deeply.
Lin Muyan could no longer keep the corners of her mouth from curving up. She figured that to make this many bullet comments break down all at once, she must have a bit of a knack for it.
Then, beaming, Lin Muyan took out the little shovel. It was time again, let’s see what treasure could be dug up in this feng-shui treasure-spot where every inch of land was worth its weight in gold.
One thrust of the shovel, and three balls of green light rose up out of the earth.
Lin Muyan didn’t have to guess what they were, a bullet comments spilled it.
【Holy crap, this time I really can’t hold it together. Where does this wretched girl get such ridiculous luck? After White Space, now she’s dug up Green Space!】
【It’s over, it’s over, she can grow crops now. Toss in seeds, vegetable seedlings, whatever, and without much tending at all she can grow fresh fruits and vegetables.】
【Not only that, they grow and ripen fast too, you can practically harvest one round after another, like cutting chives [1] a steady, endless renewable supply jQuery('#footnote_plugin_tooltip_2620863_1_1').tooltip({ tip: '#footnote_plugin_tooltip_text_2620863_1_1', tipClass: 'footnote_tooltip', effect: 'fade', predelay: 0, fadeInSpeed: 200, delay: 400, fadeOutSpeed: 200, position: 'top center', relative: true, offset: [-7, 0], });, more than you could ever eat!】
Lin Muyan pressed down the curve of her lips, laughing like a maniac inside.
Hahaha, so Green Space was farmland space. Wonderful, she wouldn’t even need to stockpile too many vegetables. Once she dug up plenty more Green Spaces in the future, why would she ever worry about running out of fruits and vegetables to eat?
Lin Muyan hastily guided the three balls of green light into her body, and sure enough a plot of farmland appeared in her mind, thirty square meters in area.
Her eyes lit up at once, overjoyed past all measure. Half-Mountain Villa truly lived up to its name as a feng-shui treasure-spot. She’d dig again in three hours and see.
Her stamina restored, Lin Muyan pressed on. She remembered that not far ahead, at the property-management office, you could check which villas were up for sale, perhaps she could try her luck.
But she hadn’t gone far when she saw a line of guards hurrying along, the lead guard answering urgently into a walkie-talkie:
“I’ll bring people over right away. You keep Madam Shen calm, contain the assailant, and don’t panic.”
The guard squad swept past in a rush, not one of them noticed Lin Muyan by the roadside.
Hearing the squad leader say something like “Madam Shen,” and seeing the direction they were running, straight toward the Shen villa, Lin Muyan’s heart gave a lurch.
An assailant? There was an assailant at the Shen house?
Lin Muyan immediately followed. However the Shens had thrown her out, her adoptive parents had still shown her the kindness of raising her, she’d hate for some vicious, desperate criminal to be threatening their lives.
She kept close behind the guard squad, and on reaching the Shen villa, she didn’t show herself but slipped off to one side to watch covertly.
She’d see what the situation was first, and rush out if help was needed.
By now, though, Lin Muyan had calmed down and thought it through. Half-Mountain Villa’s security was second to none, unfamiliar faces coming and going all had to be questioned and registered.
A visitor, without one of the resident owners coming out to vouch for them, simply couldn’t get in.
Forget an assailant, even a stray dog might not manage to slip inside.
“Madam Shen, what on earth is going on here?”
The squad leader arrived at the head of his men to find them already pinning down a man in a suit who, from the look of him, didn’t seem like a thug, perhaps there’d been some misunderstanding.
Mrs. Shen stood with her arms crossed, an imperious air about her, pointing at the “assailant” and saying:
“He’s sick in the head. Going on about wanting to see his sister, barging into my home to make a scene, he frightened my daughter half to death.”
“Call the police for me, would you. And what’s the matter with you people? How can you let just anyone in?”
Facing Mrs. Shen’s reproaches, the squad leader nodded and apologized over and over, promising the matter would surely be handled properly.
Hidden off to the side, Lin Muyan felt something was off. The man said Shen Jiaojiao was his sister, that he’d come to see Shen Jiaojiao, could it be…
【Huh? Isn’t that Lin Xiao? He came to see Jiaojiao and got taken for a bad guy by Mrs. Shen?】
【Is Jiaojiao not home? Back at the Lin house, Lin Xiao was pretty good to her, and she didn’t dislike this brother, why hasn’t she come out to see him?】
【Then she must not be home. Otherwise kindhearted Jiaojiao definitely wouldn’t let a misunderstanding like this happen.】
But Lin Muyan thought the bullet comments’s guess was wrong. Shen Jiaojiao had only just returned to the Shens, where could she possibly have gone?
Even if she had to go in for a medical exam to document her injuries or some such, Mrs. Shen would surely accompany her in person. There was no way Shen Jiaojiao would be out while Mrs. Shen stayed home.
Lin Muyan’s brows knit tight. Looking at the young man pinned to the ground, unable to move, an unaccountable anger suddenly welled up in her.
Just then, a figure flickered past the bay window on the second floor. Lin Muyan recognized in an instant that it was Shen Jiaojiao.
So Shen Jiaojiao was home after all? She’d plainly seen Lin Xiao being wronged, why wouldn’t she come down to explain?
Lucky she had sharp eyes and had caught it. Looked at this way, there really was something off about Shen Jiaojiao.
That day, while she’d been packing her things upstairs, Shen Jiaojiao had quietly told her in no uncertain terms to watch out for her birth mother once she returned to her birth family, adding that her birth father was a good man, and her siblings weren’t bad either.
So? If they weren’t bad, then why was Shen Jiaojiao standing by while Mrs. Shen wronged Lin Xiao?
The bullet comments had said so too, Shen Jiaojiao and Lin Xiao should have a decent bond. Even if she was the Shen family’s young miss now, there was no need to be this cold and heartless, was there?
Unable to stomach it, Lin Muyan gritted her teeth and walked over.
“Hold on, everyone. I know this man, he’s no villain. I vouch for him.”
At her words, everyone turned to look at her. Even Lin Xiao, pinned to the ground, struggled to lift his head, trying to see who was speaking up for him.
At this, the guards were a bit at a loss.
“Madam Shen, isn’t Miss Shen right here? If she says this man’s no villain, then he probably isn’t, right?”
If he really were an assailant, the guard squad would be in for punishment too.
If Miss Shen was willing to let the matter drop, naturally that was for the best.
The instant she saw Lin Muyan, the expression on Mrs. Shen’s face shifted unpredictably, and she grew secretly tense.
Why had she come? Could it be that the Lin family wasn’t to her liking, and now she wanted to come back to the Shens?
