Chapter 17 – Shopping Before Classes.

HP – Jon Arctic as Severus Snape!

[Chapter Size: 2900 Words.]

Third Person POV

Diagon Alley.

...

...

Diagon Alley was bustling at that moment.

Severus was among the crowd, carrying a bag and heading to the shops to buy supplies for his sixth year.

There were all kinds of students there, from those who had delayed buying the necessary materials for their first year—which were few—testing their first wand at Ollivander's shop and other last-minute things, to older students who had also left things for later.

But among all of them, it wasn't the majority, since they would receive their O.W.L. results later.

Besides the letter informing them of their O.W.L. grades, it also talked about entering advanced classes and which ones they would be. The old "you choose what you wear" still existed: some people focused on Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts, but the new system simply made all subjects hesitate about entering some courses that had previously been left aside.

Anyway, he continued moving through the crowd, among students laughing loudly, girls gossiping with each other, and many watching him with a certain surprise and a silly smile, while others tried to identify him, but nothing seemed to come to mind—much less any resemblance to that gloomy Slytherin boy.

That brought a small smile to his lips.

Already anticipating the kind of reaction they would have when they found out who he really was. It's normal for people to be interested in something new. Someone unknown already drew attention, but someone transformed was something people truly couldn't help but be surprised by. Severus would like to see their reactions.

Even so, he followed his schedule, buying supplies, books here and there.

Without much surprise, he found Potter and his friends in the broom shop. It wasn't the first time he had seen them there in Diagon Alley. He had encountered them at least three times before, always laughing and eating something in the restaurant shops nearby.

That made Severus wonder if there were only two places for them to be: their own home or Diagon Alley.

Still, his eyes returned to that broom shop—not because of the Marauders, but because of the brooms themselves. He was interested in the runes applied to them. There would certainly be safeguards preventing someone from trying to replicate them, but even so, it wasn't something that pushed him away. He wanted to understand the magical application that made objects fly.

There were also other things in the wizarding world that moved through the air, like modified motorcycles and cars—even sofas could fly through the sky. Obviously, all forbidden, but still tested in some isolated areas of the Muggle world.

He entered a bookshop, wanting to see some more specific titles he hadn't found in other stores. He wasn't surprised to find Mary Macdonald and Marlene McKinnon there, both Gryffindor students and friends who shared a dormitory with Lily Evans.

They didn't notice him as they talked about picking some specific kind of book. Even if it killed them, they wouldn't recognize him, and they would hardly speak to him anyway.

Severus had created a spell in the past few weeks; it gave him a kind of aura that made people hesitant before approaching him, because ever since he had changed his hair, he had been receiving a lot of attention, especially from girls.

Teenage girls would always come up to start conversations with him, no matter how trivial, and he didn't like that. After all, he didn't have time for such things and instead wanted to focus on his own goals and interests. Here, he wanted to buy what he needed and leave, rather than stay around flirting.

He was a married man with a harem, who had lived nearly a quarter of a millennium. He wouldn't waste time on that, not now that he was still discovering that world. The last thing he wanted was someone demanding his attention.

He was already satisfied not having to deal with Lily Evans as before. He was no longer that man who chased the redhead's attention or stayed in some corner brooding over books that the current Severus wouldn't want to waste time reading.

No.

He wanted knowledge.

He wanted to learn, to unravel that world and its magical applications—something he had never been able to achieve in his other life, where he had been more concerned with creating systems to improve the lives of ordinary people.

That made him dedicate himself almost exclusively to that over the last hundred years, especially after losing his last wife.

Since then, he had sought nothing beyond a few fleeting nights with some lovers, but he never saw that as his true purpose in life or something that deserved more of his time than he had given.

Now, it was no different. He was a teenager, and his body screamed to copulate—that was true. But he wanted to learn, he wanted to become strong, strong enough to deal with whatever reason the gods had for sending him here.

But he couldn't deny it—if there were a woman who truly shook him enough to make him feel again the love he had only felt for his wives, then he would love someone in this world as well.

But he doubted that would happen anytime soon. Not with a bunch of teenagers who, for the most part, were quite annoying.

And honestly, he had been married to some of the most beautiful women his old world could offer. A Targaryen of pure Valyrian appearance, another Targaryen with touches of Valyria mixed with a hint of Dorne, a woman from the eastern regions with beautiful green eyes, three women from beyond the Wall who would take anyone's breath away, plus another girl whom some even said was more beautiful than Jon's mother.

In his memories of this world, no one came close to those women he had loved in his past life. Not even Lily—whom the former Severus practically idolized—and now Severus himself had to admit she wasn't as beautiful as his former self had thought. He no longer had the filter of youthful love for her.

Now, Severus set those thoughts aside and simply moved toward the back of the shop, as he found some books that interested him by their titles.

He bought a large number of them, removing them using telekinesis, something no one seemed to notice. Meanwhile, a pile of books kept stacking up beside him, and the attendants were more concerned with handling the heavy flow of customers that day than with a student making them float between shelves that were rarely bought from.

Only a little girl passing by saw when he moved his hands and pulled two books off the shelf, sending them flying and stacking them together with the others beside him as Severus chose the titles.

She, who was clearly a first-year student, looked at him with admiration and curiosity. Severus noticed her and raised an eyebrow; she wanted to say something but was cautious, her eyes fixed on him.

Anyway, he deactivated his aura, allowing the girl to finally hold his gaze without hesitation.

"Are you from Hogwarts?! Is that magic?! Did you learn that there too!?" she asked immediately, her curiosity evident as she watched the last book land on the two piles Severus was building.

Severus smiled at her. "Yes, I'm a sixth-year Slytherin student at Hogwarts, but as for what I just did… well, it's not really something you learn at school, unfortunately..." he replied in a gentle tone, which made the girl see him as even more approachable. She got excited.

"What's your name, mister? Can I know?"

"It's good to introduce yourself first before asking someone's name," Severus said with a mischievous smile, making her pause for a moment and think.

"I'm… I'm Heloísa Vittorini. I don't know anything about the magical world—I mean, I found out a month ago that I was a witch! My parents are Muggles, I'm still learning." She seemed a bit discouraged before continuing more enthusiastically. "The teacher who visited us, Mrs. McGonagall, explained things when she came to see us, but it doesn't compare to what I've been seeing since I arrived at Diagon Alley. It's so magical, so beautiful… they say Hogwarts is even more magical!" she said, excited.

Severus didn't even get the chance to introduce himself as she started talking nonstop, but he found it amusing. He watched the girl's excitement while she waited for him to say something.

"By the way, what was your name again?" she asked at the end with a silly smile.

"You're quite lively, aren't you?" Severus couldn't help but murmur, while she let out a little laugh.

"Sorry… it's just that I don't know anyone who's a wizard besides the teacher! You're the first person. There are only older students here, and when I met one my age, he called me something about blood—I didn't understand... So I didn't make any friends," she murmured.

"I know I missed the week when first-year students went shopping with the teachers, but my parents had to travel. So now I only see older students since we're here buying my things... But then, I saw you doing magic, you know? It was amazing! You can move the books however you want, just by moving your hands! I thought you needed a wand… By the way, what was your name again?" she asked once more, now a bit shy.

Severus simply let out a laugh. "Well, let's take things one at a time."

He paused and extended his hand to the little girl. "My name is Severus Snape. It's a pleasure to meet you, Heloísa."

"Severus Snape… Severus Snape… Severus Snape!" the girl said happily, repeating the name as if she wanted to memorize it. "Your eyes… I've never seen eyes like that before. Are they magical? Is it normal for people to have eyes like that? They're so beautiful… I wish I had eyes like that. Can I get them too?"

Severus raised his hand and placed a finger on the girl's lips, with an eyebrow raised, as if silently saying: "Can you stop talking nonstop for a moment?" He paused as she widened her eyes.

"As I said, one thing at a time. Now, about my eyes… no, no one has eyes like mine. It's not something I was born with… I received them."

"Received?" she couldn't hold herself back.

"Yes. The gods gave me these eyes," Severus replied, as if recalling. That power wasn't inherited; it was granted to him—a mortal—something that changed not only the fate of that bastard boy of Winterfell, but also the fate of the entire world.

"From the gods? Like Jesus?" she asked.

"No… I don't think so. At least, I don't know if the gods of this world are the same as those of the other world. Even though… well, that's beside the point. It's something you might come to understand over time."

"Well, let's forget about my eyes. It's hard to explain, but getting back to the topic… Hogwarts is truly quite magical. You won't be disappointed, but I won't say much about it now. And about magic… well, what I do is a bit special. There are few people in the wizarding world who can perform magic without a wand, and most of them are adults."

"So you're special!" she stated immediately.

Severus simply smiled. As he opened his hand, a flame began to appear, taking shape. The girl widened her blue eyes as she saw a small dragon forming, letting out a low roar and beating fiery wings. Its eyes had a reddish glow even brighter than the fire itself, standing out.

"Amazing!" she said, mesmerized.

"Well, I'm sure you'll make many friends. But it was a pleasure meeting you, Heloísa. Now, I intend to take these books to the counter and buy them," he said, noticing some footsteps approaching.

"Heloísa! Heloísa, you're here!" said a woman, running toward the girl.

The girl was still looking at Severus before turning to her parents. "I'm here, Mom! Look, I made a friend!" she said, pointing at Severus.

Severus raised his gaze and saw a blonde-haired woman like Heloísa and a blue-eyed man, both nearly middle-aged. The two stared at Severus beside two stacks of books, surprised. Footsteps came from behind them, and the approach of Professor McGonagall herself followed.

When he stood up, the parents still staring at him, Severus saw the look of astonishment on the professor herself, who stopped to observe him, her gaze fixed intensely on Severus.

She seemed to be studying him, as if trying to search for something in her memories. Severus couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed—the magic still carried his own signature, and he believed that teachers like her would be able to identify him because of it.

That woman, who had clearly been furious the last time they saw each other, after the incident by the lake where he had insulted Lily before the holidays, had called him in for a talk, reprimanding him and saying she was disappointed, that his actions had made Lily cry and that he should stay away from her.

Severus, honestly, hadn't been in the right mindset to listen to that at the time.

"Well, I'll be going then. Goodbye, Heloísa." He stood up and looked at her parents, greeting them as well. "See you later, sir, ma'am. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some books to buy."

As he spoke, the stacks of books behind him began to levitate on their own. A soft murmur spread through the place at the sight. Severus did nothing more than walk normally, without even moving his hands. Professor McGonagall was still staring at him, but he moved forward without returning her gaze.

"Bye, Severus!" Heloísa shouted. He turned slightly and gave a friendly smile.

"See you at Hogwarts, Heloísa." Ignoring Professor McGonagall's even greater astonishment, he continued toward the counter with the two stacks of books, ignoring the piercing looks directed at him.

"That'll be 50 Galleons, sir," the man murmured cautiously.

It wasn't a small amount, but Severus had chosen a large number of books, some quite rare. Besides that, he was wearing Muggle clothes, like pants and a hoodie, since even though he had bought many clothes to replace all the torn ones, they weren't exactly comfortable... Also, when people saw his exotic appearance combined with expensive clothing, many asked irritating questions, especially about his family.

Being a half-blood, people frequently questioned his family, and they grew uncomfortable upon learning that his father was a Muggle.

Thus, wearing Muggle clothes avoided that kind of situation. Everyone already assumed his blood was weak. Despite the looks of disdain he felt directed at him, he had much more freedom.

Severus simply took the bag he was using to carry everything he bought—a bag with an extension charm—removed the coins, and began placing them on the counter, paying for all the books. Then he started gathering them with telekinesis, once again drawing the attention of everyone around him with his magical abilities, directing them straight into the bag.

"Thank you. With that, I'll be going." He turned and left, running into none other than the Marauders talking to two Gryffindor girls at the entrance of the shop, both carrying a few bags of books.

He felt their gaze on him for a moment, but kept moving forward without paying attention. However, the two girls fixed their eyes on him and didn't look away, following him with their gaze. He could feel Sirius scoff at their reaction, and even the others seemed bothered.

But Severus didn't care. He felt like scoffing at it as well. After all, those same girls, Marlene and Mary, had already said that he was horrible, someone Lily should stay away from. That ended up planting their influence in Lily's mind, saying they shouldn't be friends and that he was a lost cause, a dark wizard in the making. Not that he complained—he no longer sought those friendships. They would only irritate him and take up his time with nonsense.

In fact, he should be grateful that his friendship with Lily had ended. Now he could focus on what truly interested him, without having to answer to anyone.

He continued buying a few more things here and there. Some girls came to talk to him, and he had to activate his aura once more. At certain moments, he even released an intense cold around him, making everyone automatically step away.

He could control the environment however he wanted with his abilities. Manipulating temperature was something simple for him, and by doing so, he had no more problems as he finished his shopping.

Afterward, he bought the best broom in the shop and returned to his lodging, where he would continue working on Potions and also on his unique artifacts, waiting for the day he would leave.

He also had some plans for the Muggle world. There were many things that weren't accessible to the public, and as a good explorer, he was quite interested—especially in Muggle weapons.

Severus had been observing a police station in central London over the past few days. In fact, he wanted to take the next step: to better understand the technological advancements of that era. For that, he needed direct access to the objects—to dismantle them, study them—or obtain their blueprints.

And his plan was simple: to steal weapons from the police station.
