Third Person POV
Cokeworth.
...
...
Severus did not stop himself from placing his head back on the bed while staring at the worn ceiling of his room. There was so much going through his mind at that moment, so many possibilities.
He had already conquered an entire world in his other life, even if not directly as a ruler, he created all the systems that influenced every kingdom in the world, and now he had awakened in this world, which was quite different from Westeros and the other continents.
Monarchy was not the normal system of the world, at least not anymore with modernity. Some still existed, but nothing like the monarchy of Westeros. Here, the common people themselves had a voice. They had the chance to rebel together against any tyrant, while many countries would also apply pressure. There was no system of nobility, at least not among the muggles.
There were great families who owned fortunes that could even control countries, but nothing named, nothing like a House Stark, Arryn, Lannister, Tully, Martell, Tyrell, Greyjoy, Baratheon or Targaryen being announced around.
Severus could understand that there were hidden families in this world that did not like to show themselves, but still possessed great power and influence.
That was what he thought about the muggle world, because in the wizarding world it was a little different. There was no king among the wizards, at least Severus did not know of any, but nobility was highly exalted. Powerful families who were proud of being pure-blood, where blood did not mix with those of more common origins.
"Mudblood." A voice appeared. Severus's own voice. He himself had spoken that word.
"Bastard." Another word echoed in his mind. It was from Lady Catelyn, back in the days of Winterfell...
Jon Snow was used to hearing that a lot in Winterfell, more than two and a half centuries ago. Even after living so long in Ártica, he still remembered very well his life as Jon Snow in Winterfell, living as a bastard son.
"I was a fool..." He couldn't help but snort at the same time.
That contempt he hated, the way people treated him... the way all the servants and Lady Catelyn Stark treated him, was the same contempt he was using against muggle-borns, influenced by some housemates and also by his hatred toward his father. Severus Snape lived using his contempt for muggle-borns.
He even used it against the only person he could call a friend.
Severus shook his head. He made an expression that Severus would normally never have made, as he twisted his face into a somewhat strange and regretful grimace. Not because of Lily, only because of a reflection of what he was becoming.
"Damn... is this really what I became? So despicable in this world?"
He muttered, dissatisfied with his own behavior.
He was a damned king who had led his people into many battles and more conquests than any other man in history. He had never lost. He always had his creative ways of winning his wars and securing his victories.
He made a grimace because, being the man who had conquered everything in his life — everything anyone in the world would desire: knowledge, fame, power, wealth, women, family, and even control of the entire world — he had everything.
So how did someone like him, who was born in this world, become so grumpy, prejudiced, and stupid?
Severus was poor, it was true. He was a pariah at Hogwarts. His intellect was above the others of his generation, but unfortunately the world does not highlight intellect alone. There are other things that must also stand out together if you want to become someone important, as you wished.
'My self in this world became a fool...', Severus thought to himself.
"To begin with, if poverty is a problem for you, we can change that. If appearance is a problem for you, we can change that as well. Is your fragile body a problem? That we can change. Do you want to have more friends, more connections? You can also achieve that if you do not look like a grump..."
The more he thought about it, the more irritated he became with himself, because they were such easy things to solve: physical training, taking care of his appearance, obtaining income to get money, and even trying to create social skills, instead of being only a bookworm.
Being intelligent was important, yes, but it would not take him where he wanted with intellect alone. If he wanted to conquer more, he would have to do more.
Severus continued staring at the ceiling, reflecting on what his life had been like. He lost his mother shortly before Hogwarts, met Lily, became friends with her, and clung to her as if she were the only important person in his life.
Which was a mistake.
He simply pushed everyone else away. He always distrusted anyone who approached him, driving those people away... He was even a jealous idiot who wanted her to be available only to him. Only him. The jealousy was making him resentful and desperate... Lily had her friends, she shone at Hogwarts, while he was a kind of darkness that no one wanted to get close to... And she slowly drifted away.
She had never really been a good friend either, but the fool did not see that, blinded by his passion. Lily even lied to him a few times and always argued with him about everything, blinded by her Gryffindor spirit. In the last year, they practically fought with each other nonstop; every time they met, only a few words were said before everything began to fall apart with their arguments.
However, not everything was Severus's fault. But she did not see it that way...
The Hogwarts houses defined people, although the Severus of now thought that was complete nonsense. It is not the house symbol that defines you, but at Hogwarts they faithfully believed in that.
Anyway, he did not care much about that anymore. First, he needed to make some changes.
Severus stayed there for a few more moments reflecting, while searching through his memories for everything about his life. Then he finally got up from the bed and walked to where the bathroom was, where there was a larger mirror.
He heard a sound coming from downstairs. He knew his father was there, drunk.
Severus ignored him and walked to the bathroom, closing the door behind him. His next step was to look at himself in the mirror.
Not to look again at his bright green eyes.
"Well... let's start with appearance," he decided.
Analyzing his ugly face, the crooked nose, the greasy hair... The skin was also a little oily, but without pimples, at least something positive. Teenagers at that age sometimes had problems with that.
Anyway, he checked the nose.
The nose had already been broken by his own father. He was six years old when it happened and the bone grew crooked.
He took a deep breath and grabbed his nose, moving it firmly to the side, with the sound of bones breaking.
Severus did not make any grimace. He simply endured the pain while placing his nose in a straight line.
He quickly healed it with his natural magic. Only a few drops of blood came out, but they were soon stopped and the nose completely healed.
The nose returned to being a normal nose, it even decreased in size.
His body no longer had any scars, but it was still thin. He needed to eat better and exercise. That would be done at another moment.
Thinking about this, his gaze went to his hair. He had locked the door and turned on the shower. He needed to at least leave that house with dignity, since he had plans to leave immediately.
Severus scrubbed his hair until he could not anymore, trying to remove all the oil, but it was impossible.
"There are some shops that can do this in Diagon Alley. I intend to visit them," Severus said to himself.
He soon left the bathroom, drying his hair, and went back to the mirror again, giving the final touches to his appearance.
His teeth were yellow and crooked. No wonder he was looked at poorly by most people, especially by the female public.
A healing magic began to glow between his teeth. They started to move slowly. Severus felt the pain of the bones moving, while each tooth began to align perfectly. After that, he applied a cleaning, leaving them quite clear, before the pain disappeared completely.
Until that moment, Severus had never had a smile like the one he was seeing now.
"Much better," he said to himself.
A smile even surprised him, since the curve of his lips was good for smiling. It was a shame that he did not usually do that much. His yellow and crooked teeth did not help much, but now it was different.
He left the bathroom.
"Hey, brat! What are you doing up there?" A voice came from downstairs.
Severus just sighed. His useless father was being annoying again, but he did not answer.
"Hey, you freak!" The voice came again.
Severus simply returned to the bedroom. He quickly checked the wardrobe and took his mother's suitcase.
"This will do," he said.
Although a dimensional suitcase or a bag with space magic would be much better, he had no choice.
Then he started putting clothes inside it. Even though they were old, torn, and worn, everything went into the suitcase: old uniform, common clothes, at least about three pieces of each.
He did not intend to use that for long. He had better plans. Many of those clothes were worn and old, another source of the ridicule that Severus was.
He went to a corner of the room with a false board and opened it. There was a pouch with a few galleons, an amount he had saved during the whole year, making some money, although he thought he deserved more for the potions and homework he had done for the Slytherin students...
He needed to raise much more money, which was why he was leaving. He would not stay in that house or in that countryside town of England anymore... There was nothing there for him.
Footsteps began to climb the stairs while Severus finished the suitcase, narrowing his eyes as he noticed that his father was arriving.
"Listen here, you brat! Didn't you see that I was talking to you?" His drunk father appeared at the door with a furious look.
Severus looked at him and formed a smile that made his father grimace.
"Hello, dear father. Drinking even on Saturday? You look ridiculous." He said calmly.
His father looked as if he were seeing a different person, someone who was not his son. Not only because of the appearance, but because of the way he spoke and the amused and mocking tone he showed.
"What are you up to, brat?" he said, slurring his words from being drunk.
"Don't worry about me. I'm leaving. Leaving forever. That way, I will never have to see your face and your drunken ramblings again," Severus said.
That made the man widen his eyes before showing an enraged expression. "What are you saying, you brat?" he growled.
He immediately advanced toward Severus, trying to grab his collar, but before he could do that, Severus moved quickly, grabbing his wrist and squeezing it hard.
Before Tobias could growl again, a groan of pain escaped his mouth when his neck was grabbed by Severus's other hand. He dragged him directly onto the bed.
"What are you doing, you freak?" Tobias exclaimed.
But he immediately regretted it when Severus simply began to squeeze even harder. Tobias let out a cry of pain, feeling that his wrist was almost being broken at that moment.
"You shouldn't speak like that to someone who is restraining you, father. Anyway, this will be the last time you speak to me, or so I hope, because I plan to never return here or look at your horrible face again."
"So feel happy that the son you hate so much is leaving. It's just a shame that you became a terrible father. I'm glad I will never be like you." Severus spoke calmly.
He had already been a father. He had his problems with his children many times, but they always loved him and were loyal to him. Jon Arctic always loved them and took care of them, even if sometimes they deserved to be thrown into the middle of the sea. Even so, he always considered himself a good father.
He would never become someone as despicable as that man.
Severus did not even wait for a response from Tobias. He simply lifted him with a strength that a fifteen-year-old boy should not have and threw him directly against the wall beside the bed, making him hit it hard.
Tobias lost consciousness and fell to the floor.
"That will knock him out for a few hours. Well... let's go."
Severus said after checking that Tobias would not have any major problems from it. He would only have a strong headache later.
Then he started closing the zipper of the suitcase, lifting it as he stepped over Tobias's body. He went down the stairs and walked through the living room.
He only stopped in the kitchen to grab some fruit. Or rather, he opened the fruits and started taking some seeds that were inside them.
He left a moment later with his books and his clothes in the suitcase, leaving the cluster of houses on that somewhat gloomy street.
Severus could not help but stop for a moment and observe his house.
Some neighbors were there talking among themselves, others fixing their houses. Many of them had heard Tobias's scream and looked at Severus with suspicion, although it was no secret among them that Tobias beat his son...
They looked at him, but did not care much. He was just Snape's son. As sour as his father... At least they did not notice any change in his appearance.
Severus gave one last look at his house and then started walking down the street, moving directly toward the main avenue.
He needed to catch a bus. His objective was to find somewhere to stay and also some job that summer, at least to gather better money before he truly started earning money through other things, especially with the magical world. His abilities that he brought from the other world would give him a great advantage.
Severus had great elemental capabilities, but his true strength was in nature magic and in his connection with animals.
And if he began to look at it based on the memories of this world, perhaps it would be classified as a type of magic known as druidism.
He was a druid here.
