Third Person POV
Ministry.
...
...
It could be said that Severus spent the entire rest of the morning at the Ministry. He was taken to another room, where they called in a few more people who were not only interested in seeing Newt, but were astonished to watch him transform once again into the 2-meter-tall direwolf.
As Severus added that his transformation into Ghost could possibly be a magical creature, they immediately began running several tests.
Severus could feel the magic flowing around his body. Even though he could not speak in that form, he was still capable of casting magic.
His paws glowed as they touched the ground. In the very next instant, the place began to freeze.
The men were startled as the floor of the room rapidly started forming a mass of ice.
Truth be told, there was practically no one capable of transforming into magical creatures through the Animagus form. So Severus was certainly shocking everyone present.
'They have no idea what my other transformation can do...' Severus kept that information to himself. He had not even shown it to Newt, knowing just how abnormal it would seem at the moment.
If he decided to transform into the second creature, he would probably end up completely overshadowing the entire known species of that animal in the world.
Since the transformation was several times larger than any other of the same species. That definitely would not be an incident handled so calmly.
They would probably be running to call the Minister and half of the Ministry's Aurors, even the ICW would be contacted as an international incident as well.
So, using only Ghost was already shocking enough for everyone there.
Severus was careful not to hurt anyone while the ice spread. His red eyes quickly observed the men around him while they recorded everything in notebooks, staring at him as if they were witnessing Merlin himself standing before them.
Then Severus returned to his human form without caring in the slightest about the freezing cold spreading through the room.
"Incredible... Truly incredible..." Edgar Whitmoredeclared. And he joined the others, beginning to debate among themselves.
"Actually... I can do a few more things as well." Severus warned.
Immediately, the men asked him to demonstrate. Once again transformed into Ghost, Severus let out a howl.
A snowstorm appeared inside the room.
Right after that, he roared. An absurd force exploded together with the sound, freezing everything ahead while a wave of ice advanced propelled by magical energy.
He also created ice around his own body, forming a frozen armor.
Lastly, Severus decided to test something new. With his mind focused directly on the memory of Articuno and what it was capable of doing, he decided to imitate it.
He opened his mouth. Magical energy began to gather there.
The very next instant, he fired. A freezing beam burst forth with an intense glow and an explosive sound, frightening everyone present as it struck one of the room's walls.
The beam immediately began freezing everything starting from the center and soon spread across the entire wall.
The men continued recording everything frantically.
Severus returned to his human form once again. The fact that he could spontaneously transform into a magical creature seemed extremely convincing to everyone.
"By Merlin... I've never seen anything like this..." Now they were observing him almost like a rare laboratory specimen.
Severus merely mocked that internally. "Well... I believe I can leave now, right?"
The men almost seemed disappointed. "Wait, sir! We can still discuss a few things..." One of them tried to stop him.
But Severus shook his head. "Sorry, but I've already spent enough time here. I still need to go to Gringotts to take care of a few things. And I also have unfinished business in the Muggle world. I'll return to Hogwarts tomorrow." Severus explained calmly.
"I know everyone is excited, but it's better to leave the boy alone. As incredible as this is, you can also report everything to the Department for the Control of Magical Creatures. I'd also like to know, after all, it's a kind of magical wolf that even I myself have never known or seen in my life. It's probably extinct, just as direwolves were." Scamander said.
"That's right! We need to understand exactly what we just witnessed."
"There's no record whatsoever of a direwolf capable of doing this."
"We'll try to identify this creature and classify it properly."
Severus was lucky to be accompanied by Scamander. Otherwise, they probably would have tried to keep him trapped inside the Ministry to study what they had just witnessed.
Scamander led him outside after that.
The man smiled. "You truly impressed us. I mean... you truly impressed me with that last freezing attack... I've never seen a creature like that." He commented.
"I just think I was lucky to be with you. Because, honestly, I have no idea what those men would have tried to do to keep me trapped here." Severus commented.
"That's how bureaucrats are. Even knowing the Minister, he probably wouldn't have left you alone so easily. No 16-year-old boy can do what you did. No, no adult in the magical world can become an Animagus of a magical creature... and the ice abilities you displayed... they're beyond common sense..." Scamander murmured while they walked through the corridors.
"Anyway... are you sure you don't want to visit my house today?" He asked.
"I apologize, Mr. Scamander, but I'm a bit late. I still need to take care of a few things before returning to Hogwarts. But if the invitation remains open, I would like to visit you one weekend." Severus said.
"If Headmaster Dumbledore allows me, of course." He added. "I heard the two of you are friends."
"Ah, yes. We can speak with him. I'm sure he can allow it. Just as he allows my granddaughter. She told me she's been writing to you." Scamander commented with a smile.
Severus merely nodded. "Yes. She expects to meet me at King's Cross station."
Scamander smiled once again. "Good... good..." and let out a small amused laugh.
Severus merely shook his head at the man's reaction.
"Well then, I'll be going, Mr. Scamander. Thank you for everything. I'm sure that as soon as we pass through those doors, those people will already want to speak with you."
"That is true. Well... have a good return to classes. And please, keep in touch with me. I still need to officially record your observations about the dragons. And when that is done, I will make sure to give you the proper credit, Severus Snape." He said, pausing briefly for Severus.
"Know that every dragon reserve in the world will want to speak with you after that. Be prepared. The Romanian one is the largest in the world, and they'll come after you like flies."
Severus heard that and merely nodded. "Well... I would love to know every species of dragon in the world. Do they happen to have an Opaleye?" Severus asked.
The man merely shook his head. "No reserve in the world has an Opaleye. They are extremely rare. But they do exist, I've seen one once. The most beautiful dragon I've ever seen in my life." Scamander commented.
Severus heard that and nodded slowly. He definitely needed to find that dragon in the future. Even if he had to search the entire world.
The information Scamander would release would be purely academic. None of it would mention Severus speaking the language of dragons.
Severus had also not given any information about Articuno to Scamander yet. He had only commented that he had found a rather special bird.
That certainly sparked Mr. Scamander's interest, but since Severus was busy for the rest of the day, they would not have time to speak properly.
Meanwhile, Articuno was either in the room at the Leaky Cauldron or had gone out, he did not know.
Severus headed toward Gringotts while Scamander was already beginning to be approached by several people who had recognized him entering the Ministry. Since his name had been registered earlier, the gossip had started with that woman and the place was already waiting for his exit. Even the hat from before would no longer hide him.
Severus merely gave a small smile and moved on. For now, he was still a complete unknown. But Scamander remained extremely famous.
He was a hero who had acted during the First Wizarding War, although his brother had been more famous at that time. Still, he had played his part against Grindelwald, being one of the main people responsible for destroying Grindelwald's plans alongside Dumbledore.
Furthermore, his contribution to magizoology through his fantastic book was widely praised worldwide.
Severus took his wand again and walked to the fireplace, returning to the Leaky Cauldron with green flames surrounding him.
Then he entered Diagon Alley after quickly greeting Tom, heading directly toward Gringotts.
He had to wait in line for a while until he was finally attended by a goblin. "How may I help you?"
The goblin asked without even raising his eyes while continuing to write in a book.
"I am Severus Snape. I came to create a bank account and also take an inheritance test." He wanted to discover exactly what his blood was connected to.
After all, even being a reincarnation, his blood should not be as simple as that of a mere half-blood.
Severus suspected there was something different about him. After all, Jon Arctic's spirit could not simply inhabit just anyone at random.
The goblin finally raised his eyes for the first time. His gaze was filled with disdain. "Very well. I only hope you have enough money to pay for the inheritance test." He commented in a threatening tone.
"Lloyd. Escort the boy inside." The goblin called out, and a guard approached.
He carried a spear and wore a full suit of armor, staring at Severus with the same unpleasant look as the other goblin.
"Follow me, human."
Severus said nothing. He simply followed calmly as they crossed the bank's inner corridors.
After walking for some time, they finally entered a more private room.
The guard opened the door. Inside, another goblin sat behind a desk. He wore a small monocle attached to only one eye by a chain.
"What do we have here? Another child thinking he belongs to an important family?" The goblin mocked immediately upon seeing Severus.
"I only hope you have money." That was all he added while grabbing a few papers.
The guard left the room shortly after, closing the door.
"Well... let's get straight to the point. Take this lancet. Prick your finger and let the blood drip onto this paper." The goblin instructed.
Severus took the lancet and the paper without hesitation. With a quick movement, he pierced his own finger.
A drop of blood fell onto the paper. Immediately, the liquid began spreading on its own across the surface while slowly disappearing. Black lines began appearing on the paper.
Severus Tobias Snape.
Lineages ->
Prince.
Pendragon.
Severus raised an eyebrow. Was this serious? The Prince family, he had already expected.
But Pendragon?
He handed the paper back to the goblin, who stared at it for a few seconds before widening his eyes.
Then he looked at Severus.
Then at the paper.
And again at Severus.
Stopping once more on the paper.
"You are royalty..." The goblin murmured.
"Royalty? Wait... isn't Pendragon the family of Arthur, King Arthur?" Severus tilted his head slightly.
"Yes. You are a Pendragon. Which means you are a descendant of King Arthur." The goblin said, almost stuttering.
"But the Pendragons have no connection to the Princes." Severus commented.
The goblin immediately shook his head. "No."
"Who would your father be?" The goblin asked, still nervous.
"Tobias Snape. A Muggle, if you want to know." Severus replied with a grimace.
Could the Pendragons come from Tobias? From that resentful drunkard? That sounded absurd. Severus did not know whether he should feel disgusted or completely stunned.
Seeing a goblin surprised to that extent was something extremely rare.
But for him, just thinking that Tobias Snape carried the bloodline of Great Britain's ancient royal family...
"We will have to verify this immediately. Before that, my name is Gring, Mr. Snape. Please wait here." The goblin requested while carrying the paper.
Severus merely nodded and remained seated while the goblin left the room.
A few minutes passed. Then the door opened once again. This time, three goblins entered carrying several papers.
"It is surprising for us to be witnessing a descendant of King Arthur before us." One of them spoke while they all observed Severus with admiration.
But there was calculation in their gazes as well. Severus immediately realized the situation did not seem as simple as he had imagined.
"Anyway, Mr. Snape, we checked the records. To begin with, let us speak about the Prince family. They do not recognize you as an heir."
"So there is nothing we can do regarding that. And about the royal family... Unfortunately, there is a requirement for you to gain access to the vaults and assume the family name."
Severus remained silent for a few seconds. Arthur had no legitimate children. At least that was what the legends said.
Morgana would have been a more acceptable explanation, but he was heir to the Pendragons, not the Avalons. Yet it still seemed strange.
"So what exactly is going on? Arthur had no child... since Guinevere ended up in a convent after betraying Arthur, and he died without leaving a descendant..." Severus asked.
"Actually... we do not know." The goblin admitted. "We only know that you possess his blood. Perhaps Arthur had some hidden descendant. After all, there were never complete records regarding his lineage. But there is no doubt that you carry it..."
Severus thought about that. That would definitely become a headache.
His presence already seemed to be altering the world far more than he had intended in just a single month since he began acting... And now he apparently possessed royal blood. Not that this was anything new, considering his past life.
Even if there was no one left to claim it anymore. He still needed to discover whether Tobias truly possessed that blood.
But honestly, at this point, it no longer mattered that much.
"Alright. What are the requirements?" Severus finally asked. He was more curious than greedy.
The goblins exchanged glances. "The requirements are... somewhat peculiar." One of them replied.
Then he took a deep breath before continuing. "You need to find an object first. And afterward, be recognized by that same object."
"Recognized by what?" Severus asked with a grimace.
One of the goblins sighed before answering. "Excalibur."
"The sword?" Severus maintained his grimace.
"Yes. The sword must recognize you as heir to the throne."
Severus stared at the goblins with a certain disbelief. Where exactly was he supposed to find that? Did Excalibur truly exist?
A legendary sword known by practically all of Great Britain through countless stories and variants about King Arthur. But every single one had the sword as the central object. It chose Arthur as king, it decided he would become king when he pulled it from that stone.
"I suppose now you're going to tell me I need to find Merlin for that." Severus mocked.
He was not desperate for a king's title. He only wanted to understand a little about his lineage. He had never expected to discover he could be a descendant of King Arthur.
To find Excalibur, he would probably have to find Merlin first. But Merlin had died more than a thousand years ago. He was one of Hogwarts' first students. When the school was founded, he studied directly under Salazar Slytherin!
Later, he created the Round Table and became one of Arthur's greatest supporters in his journey as king. A journey that ended in tragedy, in a way.
Severus merely remained silent for a few seconds before sighing. "Anyway... forget about it. Forget about that sword. If I happen to stumble upon it someday, maybe I'll claim the Pendragon family's wealth. Maybe I'll even become King of Great Britain." Severus commented mockingly.
The goblins exchanged glances with one another, but no one answered. They simply continued staring at Severus as if they could not understand how someone could treat so casually the possibility of possessing Excalibur and becoming king?!
The sword was the most powerful and historic object in all of magical Great Britain. Treated as a legend, just like the Deathly Hallows.
"Well... anyway, I would simply like to open an account in my name. With exclusive access for me alone." Severus said, dispelling all the tension.
"Well... I suppose you can handle that easily." One of the other goblins commented while the one responsible for the room nodded.
"Very well." Gring said. "I shall do that for the young man of royal blood."
Even if he had no power over the inheritance, there was still immense value in that blood! Goblins had always favored pure-bloods, so imagine someone from the royal family that once ruled all of Great Britain?!
Severus might have nothing now, but who knows about the future? Who knows if one of his descendants might fulfill the requirements of his lineage! The goblins were very interested in reopening those vaults that had been closed for more than a thousand years. They hoped the royal blood would become active once again.
