HP – Jon Arctic as Severus Snape!

[Chapter Size: 3300 Words.]

Third Person POV

Reserve.

...

...

"Well... I guess this is where we say goodbye." Lady Mianna said to Severus as he waved with a small smile.

It was his final farewell to everyone at the reserve. Severus had decided to leave a day before returning to Hogwarts to take care of a few things.

"Looks like it... But I owe all of you a lot." Severus said, looking at Mianna and the other two, Alastair Crowe and Cedric Vane, who had accompanied him from the very beginning during those last six weeks, when Severus had entered the reserve as an auxiliary assistant, although his work had been far more than that.

"No, boy. You were a great addition to the team." Alastair said.

"Lady Mianna did very well in hiring you." Cedric added with a smile.

"That's true," Mianna herself said while looking at Severus. "If I hadn't hired you, things would've been a little dull around here this summer. You became an interesting presence for all of us."

"So it can be said that my act of courage in fixing the broken tooth of that Common Welsh Green female, Belarus, was the right thing to do." Severus replied with a laugh, his words meant only as a joke.

"From what I saw, you acted splendidly." Mianna said.

"Well... I did what had to be done. The dragon needed help," Severus said seriously this time.

"And even so, it gave you trouble and a place among us." Mianna insisted.

Severus nodded.

Alastair Crowe stepped forward while everyone stood gathered inside the cabin's living room. "Well... I imagine this isn't much, but I noticed you like books. I found an interesting one in my family's library during my last visit, and I thought you might enjoy it." He showed a book and handed it to Severus.

"This one here is a book about curses."

Severus looked at the book and then at Alastair. "You didn't have to..." he murmured.

"Come on, take it. I accused you once because of your house at Hogwarts, this is an apology." Alastair said. With the attacks from You-Know-Who, he had asked Severus some insensitive things, almost associating him with Voldemort simply because he belonged to Slytherin.

"If I don't give you anything, I'll feel a little uncomfortable." Alastair added with a smile.

"Well, did you really think we wouldn't have something so you could simply forget about us?" Cedric spoke now with another soft laugh.

"All right." He finally said, after all, the title had interested him immediately.

Severus sighed, storing the book inside his ring.

By that point, everyone already knew about the strange ring Severus kept on his finger. Saying he had created it by himself in the basement laboratory was absurd even to them.

They had never heard of an item like that before. And yet, that boy had simply created it.

Everyone already knew Severus was someone very special.

He was far beyond merely dealing with dragons. Even if he was the only person in the world who spoke the language of dragons.

What he could do... what he created, thought about... it was simply beyond normal.

One day, Severus' name would be known worldwide. None of those three had any doubts about that.

"I asked an artist to make this magical frame." Cedric spoke again, picking up a wrapped object and unwrapping it. "It's a Welsh Green, as you can see. It looks a lot like our Belarus. I hope you like it."

The object was a beautifully painted and enchanted wooden toy, moving on its own, while the Welsh Green dragon lifted its head toward Severus and let out a miniature roar.

Severus observed it for a few seconds. "I will certainly treasure this." He said. He liked it.

"Great. Then I have this here for you." Lady Mianna herself approached with a picture frame.

Inside it was a photo of the four of them standing in front of the dragons' nest while all of them smiled. They had taken a group picture on that occasion.

There were several dragons flying behind them, showing movement within the image.

It was quite an interesting keepsake. "Well... thank you for everything. I'll come back as soon as I can. And it's not like we can't stay in contact, I'd like to continue writing to you from Hogwarts."

"That is expected." Lady Mianna said.

"I just can't promise immediate replies. I'll be busy with classes... and my research." Severus said.

"I can imagine. We don't want to disturb our genius inventor boy." Mianna laughed, and the others returned a smile. She stepped forward, and Severus received a hug from her, returning it shortly afterward.

After that, he shook hands with his other two companions.

"Well... this is it. Thank you for everything. And I'll be visiting you to see how you're doing as soon as I have the opportunity." He said.

The others merely nodded. He gave them one last look and walked toward the fireplace behind him.

"Leaky Cauldron." He said before throwing Floo powder at his feet.

Severus officially left the reserve.

He had spent the last week saying goodbye to all the dragons in the nest, which was not limited only to Belarus. He had ended up forming certain bonds, although none were as strong as the one he shared with that Welsh dragoness.

The next instant, he appeared in the fireplace inside the Leaky Cauldron. He would spend his last night there, since he still had to go to the Ministry that morning to meet Scamander for something he had asked him for, with the magizoologist having accepted his request, and also to Gringotts in the afternoon — something he should have done a long time ago: open an account and see what his blood represented at that moment.

But his interest in learning about the magical world had been much greater than dealing with bureaucratic matters.

As soon as he looked around the Leaky Cauldron, the place was relatively crowded. Everyone briefly turned their attention toward whoever had stepped out of the flames before returning to their own conversations, seeing only a boy no one recognized.

The place was fuller than usual due to the return to school. Multiple students had been gathering in Diagon Alley over the last few days with their parents, while the adults could be reconnecting with old acquaintances.

Severus crossed the place without paying attention to anyone. In truth, he barely knew anyone there besides the bartender and a few people he had spoken to a couple of times, who probably did not even remember him anymore.

"Tom." Severus approached while the bartender, who was talking and serving drinks, looked at him and raised an eyebrow.

"Oh, boy... you finally showed up. Good to see you're alive and that you weren't eaten by the dragons." He said, drawing a few curious looks toward Severus.

"Well... I can't complain. It was a fantastic experience." He said with a friendly smile, before continuing.

"I also hope to visit the Welsh reserve, where there is the largest concentration of dragons in Great Britain." Severus commented.

And indeed, there was another reserve on the western side of the island, in Wales, the natural land of the Welsh dragons. There were at least hundreds of them there. Maybe thousands.

But Severus had never had the opportunity to visit that place. Mianna could certainly put him in contact with someone there if he asked.

Scamander would probably also be more than willing to take him there.

"I see it did you good." Tom observed Severus for a few seconds before nodding. "And the work in the Muggle world?" he added.

"It ended a few days ago, if you want to know." Severus sighed.

He did not even feel like commenting that he had lost the job because of the owner's foolish jealousy over a woman infected with an STD for being a little too promiscuous. He was jealous of the wrong person and did not even realize it.

She had more lovers than that married man imagined. Fool...

And thinking about that, he remembered receiving a letter from Vanessa, addressed to him at the post office. It obviously had not arrived at the reserve, but he discovered it when he went to the post office two days ago.

Well, Severus still spent some more time talking with Tom. After that, he went to the room he had ended up paying for.

He packed into a bag what he still used there, keeping his clothes and most of the books outside, since the ring had been quite occupied lately with the Muggle parts he stored inside it.

And with the current limit of only one meter of space, he would need to create a few more rings in the future.

A white burst appeared and Articuno emerged. 'You're leaving already?' it asked.

"I'm going to the Ministry, you'll have to stay here or spend the day somewhere else. I don't intend to return before nightfall." Severus warned.

'How boring...' Articuno said.

Severus shrugged. In any case, he went to the fireplace again and used Floo powder to go directly to the Ministry.

He could no longer use Apparition freely, even without being tracked thanks to the runes he had placed on his wand. Not so close to the Ministry, with Aurors able to see him.

Severus appeared in the great hall while several people walked from one side to the other, some standing around talking. The entrance hall was quite large and was certainly used for meetings between people before dealing with their matters inside the Ministry.

Everyone was very well dressed. He observed the main governmental institution responsible for the entire magical world of Great Britain, including all the countries that formed that enormous island.

The British Ministry of Magic held authority over England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and several magical communities scattered across the British Isles.

He walked toward a man sitting in a corner wearing a hat to hide himself, after all, fame has its price.

"Mr. Scamander." Severus greeted him, while he lowered the Daily Prophet newspaper and looked at Severus with a smile.

"Mr. Snape! My boy. Since you're here, shall we?" He said while standing up and putting the newspaper away.

"Of course. Thank you for coming." Severus thanked him.

"It's the least I could do after you helped me with those animals and your direct information from the dragons. I'd also like to hear about the mysterious bird you found."

Severus nodded, and they approached the counter and entered a line where several adults were waiting to explain why they were there and wait to be allowed through.

Meanwhile, a woman sitting there asking questions continued taking people's wands and giving instructions on where they should go.

The main door was guarded by two Aurors, opening as visitors passed through to enter deeper into the Ministry, while the employees entered through another entrance.

Severus could not help but think about how many secrets of the magical world he was hiding. And he had also committed certain crimes, such as theft.

But there were still certain things he wanted to test. That was why he was there. However, he would need someone to protect him with a powerful name, which was why he had called Scamander after telling him what he wanted.

When his turn came, he approached a thin woman with her hands resting on the table and a clearly bored look. "Tell me your business here at the Ministry, child." She looked at him attentively, but also with a certain suspicion. She saw the adult behind him, without recognizing him under that hat, but the boy seemed to be taking the lead.

"I'm here to register as an Animagus. I just don't know exactly how the bureaucracy works in my case."

"You became an Animagus? Aren't you a little too young for that?" The woman raised an eyebrow at him, clearly not believing him.

"Yes. I just don't know how the registration process works, which is why I'm here." Severus explained calmly.

She stared at him for a few seconds before sighing. Her face practically said she would transfer any problem related to that to the person responsible for the department.

"You'll go to the second floor. Look for Room B of Animagus Wizard Testing and Control. It's not very busy, so you probably won't have to wait."

"Now hand me your wand and register your name." She requested.

Severus placed the wand on the table without any fear of them discovering it had been altered. "Severus Snape."

She registered the name, marked a few things on a paper, and looked at him again.

"Very well. You are free to pass, Mr. Snape. But before that, I assume the man behind you is with you, you need to give me your wand and register your name."

"Of course, of course. Here." Newt approached and placed his wand on the table. "Newt Scamander."

Severus seemed to enjoy the woman's shock when she was about to mark his name in the book, stopping before looking at the name. It took her a moment, but she nodded and began writing.

"Of-Co-Of course, Mr. Scamander. Have a good Animagus test." She added to Severus. He and Scamander proceeded inside.

Severus merely gave the man a small smile, and they continued toward the door, which opened for them.

They advanced through the place while encountering numerous people talking — bureaucrats, employees, and nobles of the wizarding world. No one stopped them, not recognizing Newt with the hat still on.

"That is the price of fame, you have to hide most of the time." Newt explained.

"I understand..." Severus said.

They reached the staircase to the upper floors, and Severus ended up recognizing Abraxas Malfoy. The man was talking with someone equally important.

Both wore family rings.

Abraxas leaned on his cane while speaking calmly. Perhaps he only glanced briefly at Severus and Newt. The two men gave the boy and the older wizard a quick look, but clearly did not recognize them.

And Severus also doubted he would receive much attention from those pure-bloods. After all, he was still only a half-blood in their eyes.

Even if Lucius was willing to introduce him to Voldemort, in Abraxas' eyes Severus was probably nothing more than a useful tool his son was willing to use. Abraxas would not give Severus the same attention his son did, at least not yet.

Severus kept walking to the second floor and searched for Room B. He finally found the place the woman had described.

The two entered the room and found a man sitting while reading a newspaper.

There were a few sofas in front of him, but all of them were empty. There were not many Animagi in the wizarding world due to the absurd difficulty of the process and the mortal danger involved in the transformation.

It was rare for someone to appear for registration.

Even so, the Ministry had an entire department dedicated to the control of Animagus wizards. They also dealt with cases of failures in the process, which frequently resulted in the deaths of wizards attempting the difficult transformation.

The man lowered the newspaper and looked at the newcomers. His eyes studied the boy, who clearly did not seem even seventeen years old. And then the older man.

"I handle Animagus registrations. Are you in the right place?" He asked.

"Yes. The young man here wants to register his Animagus form." Newt was the one who spoke.

"You seem very young..." The man turned back to the youth, but suddenly noticed something. "Wait, you're Newt Scamander!" He said happily, getting out of his chair to greet the older wizard. "I'm Edgar Whitmore! I love your work, Mr. Scamander!"

"..." Severus remained silent while the man asked a few questions, and Scamander, not being rude, answered cheerfully.

"Oh right! Let's talk about the boy." He finally turned his attention back to Severus. "How did you achieve your Animagus form? Did you keep the mandrake leaf in your mouth for an entire month?" He asked, clearly impressed.

"Actually... I didn't use that method." Severus replied. And he was not lying. He had never needed to keep any herb in his mouth for a month.

In truth, he had carried that ability since his past life, being able to transform into two different animals.

"Really?" He asked, slightly suspicious, before turning back to Scamander.

"The boy is very impressive, if you want to know..." That was all Newt said with a small smile.

"Then I would like to see the transformation. Can you give us a demonstration?" The man asked.

"Yes. But it will be a little cramped in here. Could you step back?" Severus replied.

Edgar and Newt moved back as he requested.

"And what kind of animal is it?" The man asked Newt.

"A wolf. More specifically... a dire wolf."

"A dire wolf? Hold on... if I'm not mistaken, isn't that an extinct animal?" The man immediately stood up, looking at Severus with much greater interest.

"Oh, much more than that. You'll see." Scamander said.

Severus took a few steps back, moving to the center of the room to avoid bumping into anything.

Then his body transformed.

In the next instant, with a leap, the wolf landed in the middle of the room while the man jumped backward, whereas Scamander had already seen this transformation before.

He opened a smile, his eyes falling upon the enormous wolf standing before him.

White fur.

Red eyes.

Severus knew very well what that meant. Ghost.

The creature Severus could transform into. It was his old wolf... and one of the most precious bonds Jon Arctic had ever had in his life.

When he discovered he possessed that ability, to transform, the real Ghost had already passed away long ago, dead of old age after living more than a hundred years beside Jon as the alpha of all the dire wolves of the Arctic.

"By Merlin... that's gigantic!" Edgar exclaimed after recovering himself.

The dire wolf standing before him was around two meters tall and four meters long. It was larger than a warhorse.

It easily weighed seven hundred kilograms and could be more powerful than the mightiest bears in the world, and with the wolf's abilities, he could also rival the most dangerous magical creatures in the world.

The man remained frozen while observing the creature, as if admiring the monstrous beauty of that animal. Newt was not much different, even though he had already seen it before.

Severus reduced Ghost's body and returned to his human form.

"Well... my dire wolf is a little different. Normal wolves are around sixty centimeters tall. Dire wolves can reach close to ninety. Mine is two meters..." He said, pausing.

"I believe it is a magical creature." Severus said.

The man merely nodded while quickly beginning to gather several papers. "Well... it's not every day that I see something like this. Let's begin the registration!"

He hurried to the desk, picking up documents. "I assume you already have an idea of how the process works. But you said you didn't do anything with the herb."

"You simply discovered you could transform into this wolf?" The man asked.

He knew that would certainly raise numerous unwanted questions. But Severus merely nodded without seeming worried. He had brought Scamander precisely for this!

"Yes. I know I have one year to register after the transformation. But I truly did not perform the herb ritual."

"All right. We'll begin your registration immediately." He said.

In the end, Severus merely nodded as he joined Newt.

He knew that would still take some time. After that, he would still go to Gringotts. If he had time, he would visit Vanessa, and he also had another meeting with a Muggle university professor from Oxford.
