[Chapter Size: 3000 Words.]
Third Person POV
Diagon Alley.
...
...
Before arriving at the shop, Severus saw a man standing with some house-elves beside him, in a corner of the street.
There was a service sign, ranging from renting an elf to do shopping, in which they help with information and levitate your things, or even small services, from giving information itself, looking for someone, or even teleporting your belongings.
Severus was carrying a lot of things and approached. "Hello, I want to take these things to room number 4 at the Leaky Cauldron." he requested.
"Of course, Xasmine, do that, it's 1 Sickle." the man who took care of the elves said.
Severus handed it over and the elf began to levitate his things before disappearing with them.
"Thank you, have a good day." Severus thanked him, with the man nodding, and he went to Ollivanders.
The sound of the doorbell rang as he entered with some caution. The place was already empty, usually busy when first-year students bought their first wands at the beginning of the school term.
The shop wasn't very large. The place had nothing, from the door to the counter, where all the wands were stored in several drawers piled into cabinets all around the place.
He approached carefully until, suddenly, a ladder slid to the side and an elderly man appeared on the sliding ladder, staring at him.
"Mr. Snape," he said, opening a smile, but his tone and his gaze over Severus seemed to doubt his own statement, as if he were facing a stranger, even while confirming the opposite...
He noticed something wrong immediately. Severus looked at the man, but the reflection in the glass of one of the closed shelves already said everything: probably his appearance.
"You are different, Mr. Snape," said the man, descending the ladder without taking his eyes off Severus. He calmly approached the counter while trying to study the young man in front of him.
"I decided to change my appearance a bit," Severus said with a slight smile.
"No, I am not speaking only of your appearance. You are certainly different, your eyes were not so bright or so emerald... It is as if they now reach a power... a kind of power I have never seen before. Interesting, very, very interesting, Mr. Snape. But that is not all that has changed. And I must say that the reason you are here today, in my shop, is because of that change, I presume?" he said, stopping at the counter while still studying him.
"You are not wrong," Severus said. "I came here because I know I have changed and I need to know how my wand is reacting to that. After all, the wand always chooses the wizard, but due to certain changes, I do not know if it is still suitable for me. If you understand, I need to know if it is still suitable," Severus admitted.
"Your wand may very well no longer suit you." He reflected... "Have you already tested it?" Ollivander asked.
"No. I am not sure if the Ministry would send a letter or even an Auror due to the breach of underage magic use, so I ended up not using it. I wanted to know if I could test it here," he asked carefully.
Ollivander nodded. "Of course. Take it and try to use it."
Severus nodded as he took out his wand. He could feel the connection, but he could also perceive a fluctuation.
The wand was trying to recognize him, but due to the magical change he had undergone upon receiving all the memories of his life in the other world, it was almost rejecting him.
"Black Yew, Phoenix feather core, 13¾ inches..." Ollivander said with his eyes gleaming at the wand...
Severus ignored the comment and held it firmly, pointing it at one of the glass panels of some shelves that were outside the counter.
"Glacius," he said immediately and felt a resistance coming from the wand itself.
Even so, the spell came out like a ball of white light at high speed, but what came next neither Severus nor even Ollivander expected. In the next moment, from the surface where the spell hit, ice began to spread at an absurd speed, so fast that the white light simply took over the entire shop and even the outside.
Crrrk... krrrshhh— CRRAAAACK!
In an instant, everything froze with a loud crash, reaching even the people outside. The windows exploded as Ollivander's entire shop was taken over by ice.
Severus and Ollivander were stunned, with the latter immediately trying to protect himself from the intense cold.
An icy wind circulated throughout the shop, as if they were in the middle of one of the coldest regions in the world, with gusts constantly blowing.
"Well... your wand is certainly a bit reluctant to perform your spells... but how can you cast a Glacius of that size, even with the wand reducing the spell?" shouted Ollivander, shivering from the cold.
Severus widened his eyes, seeing the old man almost freezing, and immediately grabbed some objects from the counter.
"Let's see if this works..." he murmured quickly, as he used transfiguration, turning the objects into fur coats — something he knew well from the other world, where winter was much harsher.
He moved to the counter. "Here... I apologize for this, Mr. Ollivander," Severus said, a bit guilty.
The entire shop was covered in ice on all sides. Even the wand counters were completely frozen, and people outside began to shout and exclaim upon seeing the scene.
Severus, who did not want to draw attention, immediately realized the problem forming.
"Thank you, my young man," said Ollivander, still shivering, but looking grateful.
Severus was wearing nothing but his own clothes. He was naturally resistant to the cold, so it did not affect him, but he was still concerned about the elderly man.
"Can we thaw the shop immediately?" Severus asked carefully.
"It is possible. You must have learned some heat spell, haven't you? If there is something like that, try casting it," Ollivander replied.
"Yes..." Severus said, and Ollivander immediately jumped.
"Then let me get out of here first," he said immediately, moving past the counter. "I don't want to burn alive."
Severus nodded at the logic, feeling a bit embarrassed by his lack of magical control, clearly his heating spell would burn anyone if cast in the same proportion as Glacius.
The man stopped before opening the door. "By the way... I have never seen a Glacius as powerful as the one today. Whatever change you have undergone, Mr. Snape... you are destined for great things."
Severus watched him open the door, revealing a crowd already gathered outside, while he began speaking with the Aurors who were approaching, wanting to enter the shop.
Severus remained silent after the door was quickly closed, with Ollivander speaking to the Aurors, the only sound being the cracking of ice and the cold air still circulating throughout the place.
He simply reflected on that.
Ollivander used to say that many wizards would be powerful as people bought their wands — that they would be great wizards — so those words did not carry that much weight.
Severus had learned, as a father and grandfather in his other life, that when words are repeated too much and praise is given easily, they lose their value.
The secret had always been moderation... and to praise only when it was truly deserved. Not that he could deny what he had just done in the shop. That was beyond his abilities.
In his memories, he had never cast a Glacius that froze more than a surface of 30 cm. Now, he had frozen an entire shop.
That could only mean one thing: his powers from his past life were merging with his magic from this world.
In his past life, he could create massive snowstorms, even without his dragon. With Eragon, Jon, and the dragon, they were already capable of creating a snowstorm throughout all of Winterfell when they were young. As an adult, he could create snowstorms that would cover all of King's Landing.
As Jon alone, he could create a snowstorm capable of covering all of Winterfell. He could simply destroy an entire army alone, creating a snowstorm so intense that his enemies would be swallowed by it, while he advanced as the center of the storm itself — a true hurricane of ice, snow, wind, and cold.
And that was not even close to what he was truly capable of doing.
Even so, his power had increased absurdly, even with his wand basically resisting his spells.
Severus took a deep breath, raised his wand, and cast a heating spell.
"Calefacio."
The tip began to glow red and, in the next moment, the entire shop began to increase in temperature rapidly, with everything taking on a more reddish tone coming directly from the tip of the wand.
The ice began to melt, with cracking sounds coming from all over the room.
He knew he could even get burned normally... but, just like in his past life, fire and heat could not harm a dragon.
The ice deformed and soon began to drip, first in drops, then into real streams of water, until they turned into small waterfalls throughout the shop. Everything began to melt, even outside, while Ollivander continued explaining something to the crowd.
Severus kept working.
Seeing the enormous amount of accumulated water, he grabbed another object — a coin on the counter — and quickly used transfiguration.
Now, he was extremely skilled at it.
He could perfectly visualize what he wanted to transform, understanding even the molecular structure of each object. This elevated him to a level he had never reached in transfiguration.
The coin expanded and transformed into a massive water tank in the middle of the shop.
Severus spun his wand above his head and, quickly, the water began to rise in small particles until it started to circulate upward like a river, being pulled and concentrated into a single point, descending directly into the water tank.
In just a few moments, the thousand-liter tank was completely full, and all the moisture in the shop had disappeared.
Even the wet sheets of paper and the boxes with wands were completely dry.
Severus let out a sigh as he saw the last droplets of moisture in the air falling into the full water tank.
He looked at the broken windows, where several people were trying to peek inside. Severus did not show himself before those eyes. "Reparo," he cast.
The shop began to repair itself immediately.
A moment later, the door opened and Ollivander appeared with a smile, looking at the water tank and the entire shop, now perfectly in order.
"You truly surprised me, Mr. Snape," he said, closing the door before turning the sign to "Closed" and lowering the curtains on the shop windows. "Well... there are many curious people outside wanting to know who exactly did this to my shop. When I said we were testing a new wand and that a Hogwarts student ended up freezing everything, they became even more interested in knowing the identity of that student..."
Severus immediately shrugged slightly upon hearing that. He was already standing out too much, something he did not want, not in that summer.
"But do not worry. I imagine you do not want that much attention. That is why I did not mention your name. I only said that the shop would be closed and that no one could enter until I finished attending you," Ollivander continued, with a small friendly smile.
"Even so, it seems they will wait for you to leave. I can give you an option, if you want to avoid this crowd of curious people. After all, it is not every day that someone freezes my entire shop. You can use my fireplace to travel by Floo powder. It is not traceable."
Severus nodded, grateful. "Well, I would prefer to remain discreet."
"Excellent. But now, let us talk about your wand. I see that you did an excellent job. What spells did you use here?" Ollivander asked, excited, almost like a professor.
"Well... I melted the ice with a heat spell, Calefacio, which was as strong as the freezing one. Then, I took one of the coins from the counter and used transfiguration, turning it into a thousand-liter water tank. As you can see, I gathered all the water into it," Severus explained.
"Interesting... very clever. It seems you are not completely out of control with your wand."
"However, it still seems to resist in my hand," Severus replied. "I can perform magic, but it is as if there is a certain struggle with it... and it has been with me for five years already."
"What spell did you use to gather the water?" Ollivander asked, curious.
Severus was caught off guard. In truth, he had not even thought about it. "I... do not know," he admitted. "I just visualized the water moving and raised my wand. I did not say anything... and it simply began to gather."
"Spell by will, Mr. Snape. That is almost like accidental magic... but controlled. It is extremely rare," said Ollivander, his eyes gleaming.
"Well... I suppose so," Severus replied, nodding slightly.
He had been a king in his past life, but in that world, even with all his years of experience in the magical world, he knew there were still many questions he had never been able to ask before — and many answers he still did not understand.
It was like a frog at the bottom of a well.
He still had no complete idea of how magic worked there... and he wanted to understand more.
Even feeling a bit lost, he was also excited.
Severus opened a slight smile at Ollivander and then asked: "Are you saying that I can perform a spell that does not exist — or that I do not know — if I can clearly visualize what I want... almost instinctively?"
"Yes... but it does not always work. If you have enough will and can visualize very well what you want, magic will flow according to your desire." Great wizards can do this without pronouncing any spell or even using a wand many times...
He paused before continuing, looking at Severus as if he were seeing him for the first time. "You are different... very different. What I noticed before seemed to be only the surface." He could feel the curiosity shining in those emerald eyes... countless and countless questions...
"Well, now let us see if another wand suits you," he said.
Severus immediately raised his hand. "Sorry, but I will not have the money now to get a new wand. We can look at that later." After all, he needed to find a job and earn galleons. The little he had, he did not want to spend at that moment.
"Nonsense. I will not charge you anything. You have already given me more than any half dozen galleons could give for a wand..."
"And what would that be?" Severus raised an eyebrow.
"You have given me the promise of a future incomparable to any other child of this generation," he replied simply.
He had seen the potential in Severus. And honestly, who would not? Ollivander would be more than proud to have a wand made by him in the hands of someone who would become so powerful. He was almost like a Slughorn, who divided students between promises of a brilliant future and... just students? But Ollivander was a Slughorn of wands...
"Now, let us see your wand," he requested. Severus handed it over.
"This is a wand... peculiar. It is inclined toward a wizard who practices the dark arts, but it also has the potential to cast light spells. Perhaps that is why it is resisting you. As you already suspected, your personality has changed, your objectives have changed... and the wand recognizes that. It is seeing you as a stranger, luckily you have a strong will to subdue it, which is why it still works, but it is still a constant battle..."
He analyzed it more closely. "It will always refuse you. Perhaps, with time, it could accept you again... but I do not think it is advisable, given the lack of control you are having over your spells."
Severus nodded. That made sense. "Now, let us test new wands. I am sure it will be exciting."
Some time later, Severus stepped out of the fireplace in green flames inside the Leaky Cauldron.
His hair was completely messy, his clothes slightly torn, and he was still holding his old wand in his hand.
He was exhausted — to the point of not even caring about his own appearance.
"Maybe I should do a spell to mend this...", he murmured to himself, before moving forward.
The sight of the young man coming out in that state caught the attention of both the customers and the bartender.
"Are you alright, boy?" the man asked, staring at him.
Severus only gave a weak smile. "More or less... I just need to sleep a bit."
He went straight to the room he had rented.
"Looks like he was run over by a herd of hippogriffs," said a witch, laughing as she drank a firewhisky.
"Who knows... some very strange things happened today. Did you know that the wand shop was frozen by someone testing a wand!? What kind of child does that, Merlin?!" the gossip quickly began.
Severus did not care in the slightest as he made his way to the room. He opened the door and found all his purchases there.
Anyway, Severus simply threw himself onto the bed and looked at the ceiling.
"Let's sleep a bit... and deal with the rest tomorrow." He said this to himself before passing out.
