Elavin didn’t find the lack of washrooms all that hard to imagine.
Although the original books never mentioned it, he knew from the game Hogwarts Legacy that the sanitary conditions in several of the house dormitories were an absolute disaster.
Take the washrooms, for example.
Hufflepuff was the only one of the four houses without one.
Keep in mind, the Hogwarts kitchens were right next to the Hufflepuff dormitory!
Maybe that was why the Hufflepuff common room had so many plants growing inside, and why every single one of them thrived so well?
Well…
plenty of fertilizer, after all.
Slytherin did have washrooms, but they were located outside the dormitory.
Going to the toilet meant walking quite a distance.
If a student got up in the middle of the night and forgot the password afterward, they’d end up miserably freezing outside until morning.
Gryffindor’s washrooms were at least inside the dormitory, but they only had a girls’ bathroom — no boys’ bathroom.
By comparison, Ravenclaw was clearly the best in this regard.
Not only did they have separate male and female washrooms inside the dormitory, each one even had several private bathing stalls equipped with bathtubs.
Looking at it that way, it was pretty obvious which of the four founders loved cleanliness the most — and which one was the messiest.
“Professor Dumbledore, I think you must be the greatest headmaster Hogwarts has ever had!!” “Haha…
I think so too!” …
The Leaky Cauldron.
With a loud CRACK, two figures — one old, one young — suddenly appeared at the entrance out of thin air.
Yet none of the nearby pedestrians seemed to notice.
Dumbledore glanced back at Elavin and saw that he looked completely calm, without the slightest sign of discomfort.
The admiration in his eyes deepened.
“You’re handling this much better than I expected.
Most people don’t adapt well to their first experience with Apparition.” He was putting it politely.
In truth, Apparition felt like being forcefully squeezed through a long, narrow rubber tube.
The experience was incredibly unpleasant.
Most first-timers came out dizzy and nauseous, vomiting in an extremely pathetic state — far beyond merely “not adapting well.” Elavin lightly tapped his chest with a small fist.
“Maybe my body is stronger than average.” The enhancement from his three-character cards had greatly improved his physique.
Dumbledore nodded without saying anything further and led Elavin into the Leaky Cauldron.
“This is the Leaky Cauldron.
From here, you can access Diagon Alley.” The pub wasn’t very well lit, and the entire place looked dim and gloomy.
One thing worth mentioning was that it was quite crowded at the moment.
Groups of wizards sat around small tables, squeezed inside the cramped tavern while drinking, bragging, and exchanging news.
Behind the counter, the bartender leisurely polished a goblet that never seemed to become fully clean.
Meanwhile, someone who looked like a waiter was carefully wiping down tables after customers left.
As he cleaned, he skillfully gathered the glasses together.
Suddenly, he covered them with the rag, and all the glasses vanished instantly.
Then he casually picked the rag back up and moved efficiently toward the next table.
“Merlin’s underpants!
Is that Professor Dumbledore?!” “What are you doing in a place like this?” The pub patrons quickly noticed the old man and the boy who had entered, immediately recognizing the old man as Dumbledore.
Shocked cries erupted throughout the tavern.
It was obvious they respected him greatly.
Dumbledore smiled as he looked back at Elavin.
“Naturally, I’m here to escort our young wizard to school.” “You’re personally escorting a young wizard?” The eyes of every wizard in the pub immediately gathered on Elavin.
In their eyes, if Dumbledore — the Headmaster of Hogwarts himself — was personally escorting someone, then this boy had to be extraordinarily special.
Could he be Harry Potter?
Judging by the age, Harry should indeed be eleven this year — exactly the age to enroll at Hogwarts.
After all, only the savior of the wizarding world who defeated You-Know-Who would deserve Dumbledore’s personal attention.
But the wizards quickly dismissed the idea.
Everyone in the wizarding world knew Harry Potter had a scar on his forehead.
But the boy standing before them had a completely smooth and unmarked forehead.
Besides, Harry Potter’s father, James Potter, had black hair, while his mother, Lily Evans, had red hair.
How could they possibly have a blond child?
“Then…
which pure-blood family does he belong to?” Seeing the misunderstanding, Dumbledore hurriedly explained: “No, no.
This child isn’t from a pure-blood family.
I only came personally because of certain special circumstances.” There was a hierarchy of blood status in the wizarding world.
And if there was anything pure-blood wizards looked down upon more than “having two Muggle parents,” it was probably “having two Muggle parents who were both deceased.” To avoid hurting young wizards emotionally and to respect their privacy, Hogwarts professors generally avoided discussing their family situations in public.
However, after hearing Dumbledore’s explanation, several wizards present immediately understood the implication.
They all knew that Muggle-born wizards would sometimes be personally escorted by a professor.
So this young wizard was Muggle-born?
Then why wasn’t he accompanied by his parents?
Could it be that his background circumstances were unfortunate, and that was why Dumbledore personally came?
That seemed like the only reasonable explanation.
The wizards arriving at such conclusions wasn’t strange at all.
After all, most wizards who frequented the Leaky Cauldron were half-bloods or Muggle-borns.
Pure-blood nobles would never visit such a dirty, cramped, dim place.
Whenever they needed to go to Diagon Alley, they would simply use Floo Powder directly from home instead of making a trip to the Leaky Cauldron.
Since they were half-bloods and Muggle-borns, they naturally understood Muggle society better than pure-blood wizards and naturally had stronger reasoning skills as well.
With only a little awareness of the social conditions in recent years, they could already piece together most of the truth.
After realizing the soon-to-be Hogwarts student was likely an orphan, the wizards tacitly stopped asking about Dumbledore’s so-called “special circumstances” and changed the topic instead.
“I thought escorting young wizards was Professor McGonagall’s job.” “That’s right, it is Minerva’s responsibility!” Dumbledore winked.
“But I can’t possibly dump everything onto her shoulders, can I?
Her workload would become far too heavy.
Don’t you agree?” The moment those words left his mouth, praise immediately erupted throughout the tavern.
Comments like “You’re truly considerate toward your staff” poured out endlessly.
Dumbledore accepted all the praise without hesitation before taking Elavin along toward the back courtyard.
