Lilith’s mind raced.

The blue-glowing thing in Herta’s hand didn’t look like anything friendly.

But panicking would only make the situation worse.

She had to demonstrate enough value to make this genius scholar interested in her, rather than simply dissecting her as an experimental subject.

“You’re Herta, right?” Lilith slowly sat up, her red eyes staring directly at the purple-haired woman before her.

The device in Herta’s hand paused for a moment.

“You know me?” Her gaze became more dangerous, an unsettling light flickering in her purple pupils.

Lilith took a deep breath and decided to risk everything on a single throw.

“You run this Space Station and are dedicated to researching the mysteries of the Simulated Universe.” Her voice remained as calm as possible.

“The researchers around you are just ‘inferior meat pigs’ in your eyes because they can’t keep up with your speed of thought.” “Inferior pork?” Herta’s brow furrowed.

“What nonsense are you talking about?” Oops!

Lilith’s heart pounded wildly.

‘Did I say something wrong?

I’m doomed!’ She felt her lie had instantly exposed a massive flaw.

The excitement in Herta’s purple eyes grew more dangerous, like a scientist discovering an interesting anomaly.

But at that critical moment, a spark of inspiration hit Lilith.

“I can predict your future!” She continued, her tone becoming more confident.

“That…

you’re about to prepare the establishment of the Simulated Universe, right?” “You know quite a lot, don’t you?” Herta sneered, though the vigilance in her eyes didn’t waver.

“However, I don’t believe in metaphysical prophecies.” “Since you claim you’re not of Abundance, let science verify everything.” She snapped her fingers.

A Little Herta ran out from the inner room, using both hands and feet to quickly assemble a mechanical device.

The device’s surface flickered with various colors, and countless tiny probes pointed at Lilith.

“This is my latest invention, a detection instrument.” Herta said proudly, a scientist’s characteristic pride on her face.

“It can detect brainwaves, heart rate changes, micro-expressions, and even soul fluctuations.” “If you’re telling the truth, it won’t react.” Sweat began to bead on Lilith’s forehead.

She had no way to counter this high-tech device!

Just as she was panicking, that familiar voice echoed in her mind.

“Go ahead.” “Are you sure?” Lilith asked internally.

“Trust me, it’s just one of Herta’s little toys.” With the system’s assurance, Lilith regained her confidence.

She stood up and walked toward the detector without hesitation.

“Good, at least you have guts.” A hint of approval flashed in Herta’s eyes.

“Now, repeat what you just said.” Lilith sat on the detector.

The device immediately began to operate, with countless light beams scanning her body and data scrolling rapidly across the screen.

“I am not of Abundance.” Lilith said calmly, “I come from…

another place.” The detector didn’t react.

“I can see fragments of the future.” Still no abnormalities.

Herta’s frown deepened.

She stared at the data on the screen—which was as normal as could be—confusion flickering in her purple eyes.

“Where are you from?” she asked directly.

‘Uh…

I can’t exactly say I was forcibly dragged here after dying from gacha, can I?’ Lilith’s mind worked at high speed.

She needed an answer that explained her situation without causing more trouble.

Suddenly, a brilliant idea flashed through her mind.

“I was the victim of a ‘prank’ by a girl with twin tails.” Lilith’s expression became incredibly sincere.

“She called herself Elation.

While I was sleeping, she shot me.

When I woke up, I had been captured and brought here, and given some…

strange abilities.” ‘Isn’t this reason a bit…

far-fetched?’ ‘But I can’t think of anything else right now…’ Herta’s expression instantly became complicated.

Elation?

A girl with twin tails?

Could it be The Aeon of Elation?

Its pranks were known to almost everyone; no one could predict its behavioral logic.

Attributing all irrational phenomena to Elation was almost a universal explanation in the cosmos.

More importantly, the detector still showed that Lilith was telling the truth.

“A prank by Elation…” Herta stared at the normal data on the detector, clear confusion in her eyes.

“That explains your body’s reconstruction and why you know about me.” “I know it sounds absurd,” Lilith continued, “but I really have seen fragments of the future.

About you, and about what’s about to happen to this world.” Herta fell into deep thought.

Her scientific instruments confirmed every word the silver-haired girl said was true, but logic told her these things were impossible.

The conflict between science and metaphysics clashed fiercely in her heart.

“Assuming everything you said is true,” Herta finally spoke, “why did you come to me?” “Certain people want to capture me for experiments.” Lilith said, mixing truth with lies.

“In a fragment of the future, I saw myself finding temporary refuge here.” “Certain people?” Herta’s interest was fully piqued.

“Why would they want to experiment on you?” “Uh…

maybe…

because of my appearance?” Lilith’s tone became a bit awkward.

‘I have a bad feeling…

has she already seen through these made-up reasons?’ A hint of understanding flashed in Herta’s eyes.

As a member of the Genius Society, she knew how crazed the pursuit of knowledge by those in power could be.

A beautiful girl with precognitive abilities would indeed attract countless covetous gazes.

“And,” Lilith added, “if you’re willing to take me in, I can tell you some things about the future.” Herta’s eyes grew fervent.

As a scholar pursuing truth, nothing was more attractive than verifying an unknown destiny.

“An interesting proposal.” She nodded slowly.

“I agree to take you in, but on one condition: you must cooperate with my experiments from now on.” Then Herta stood up and took out a silver collar.

“Eh?” “Miss Herta, what…

what are you doing?” Lilith widened her red eyes.

Herta smiled mischievously, walked over to Lilith, and gently placed the collar around her neck.

“I may have agreed to take you in, but that doesn’t mean I fully trust you.” Her fingers lightly brushed the surface of the collar.

“Once you’ve earned my trust, I’ll take it off for you.” “If you try to tamper with it, it’ll go ‘boom’ and explode.” Herta said nonchalantly, her tone carrying the characteristic indifference of a scientist.

“I…

I’ll do my best.” Lilith swallowed hard.

Herta gestured for a puppet to come forward: “Take her to the guest room.” But just as the puppet was about to move, Herta suddenly changed her mind.

She turned back, placed her index finger under Lilith’s chin, and examined the exquisite, fair face up close.

Then, her hand brushed through that smooth, silver-white long hair.

Lilith’s face instantly turned red.

Herta’s sudden intimate contact caught her completely off guard; those purple eyes were right in front of her, and she could feel the warmth of their breath.

“What…

what do you want to do?” She stammered.

“Observing the external characteristics of the test subject; I need to make a record in advance.” Herta replied as if it were a matter of course, but she didn’t let go.

“Since I’ll be observing you long-term, I have to ensure the test subject is…

pleasing to the eye.” Lilith felt like her heart was about to stop.

This genius scholar’s sudden ambiguous behavior left her completely unsure of how to react.

“Alright, go get some rest.” Herta finally let go.

“We’ll start the formal research tomorrow.” As she turned to leave, she whispered to herself, “Looks like a suitable candidate for a ‘daughter’.” Watching Herta’s departing back, Lilith touched her still-burning cheeks.

This start was much more complicated than she had imagined.
