Led by the purple-haired boy, it didn’t take long for Ian and his pack of eight fierce dogs to arrive at their destination.
The eight dogs stood guard outside.
The shelter looked incredibly rundown.
The purple-haired boy’s frail, emaciated frame reminded Ian of the stray dogs by his side.
Pushing open the door, Ian soon saw two other equally emaciated boys lying inside the room.
The only difference was that one of the boys had a slightly broader frame, while the other two—including their guide—looked as if a strong gust of wind could blow them over.
Their return startled the two boys awake.
However, upon seeing the purple-haired boy, they visibly relaxed.
“Machi, who is he?” Both boys had sharp, piercing gazes.
They stared at Ian with wolf-like eyes, making him slightly uncomfortable, though he brushed it off.
However, when he heard them call the purple-haired boy Machi, Ian froze for a moment.
*’That name…
sounds familiar…’* “Uvogin, Nobunaga, relax.
He saved me.
Just wait a bit, I found some food…” At that moment, Ian finally realized something was off.
“Uvogin?” “Nobunaga?” Ian’s eyes widened slightly.
He glanced at the two boys slowly sitting up, then looked at the back of the purple-haired boy boiling water.
His pupils shrank.
“You’re a girl?” Ian blurted out in surprise.
Hearing this, Machi paused and turned around in surprise, wondering how this stranger had seen through her disguise.
The other two boys, meanwhile, glared at Ian with hostility.
“Hey, kid, do you have a death wish?” “What are you trying to pull?” They shouted in unison.
Hearing their threats and looking at their gaunt faces, Ian couldn’t help but match them to the two figures from his memory.
He shook his head.
“Their personalities are pretty much the same.
I just didn’t expect…
it to be during this time period…” He never imagined he had transmigrated into the era when the Phantom Troupe were still children.
“Hey, I suggest you watch your tone.
You’re both sick right now, and if it really comes to a fight, I’m not afraid.
Little King Eight, get in here!” As Ian’s calm voice faded, the eight fierce wild dogs slowly pushed through the door and stepped inside.
With the pack of wild dogs flanking him, Ian felt a surge of confidence, standing bold and imposing.
Even if these kids would become powerhouses in the future, right now, they were nothing more than lambs waiting to be slaughtered.
Just as expected, upon seeing the eight vicious dogs, both Uvogin and Nobunaga instantly lost much of their aggressive momentum, though they still gritted their teeth in frustration.
On any normal day, they would rather die than submit.
But right now, their bodies were simply too weak…
Machi, on the other hand, knew from the start that he wouldn’t attack them.
So, even when Ian intimidated Uvogin and Nobunaga, she remained unfazed.
“Man, you really had me fooled…” Ian chuckled softly at Machi.
However, he understood her reasoning.
In a chaotic place like this, exposing oneself as a girl rarely led to anything good.
“What happened to them?” Ian asked curiously, pointing at Uvogin and Nobunaga.
While boiling the sweet potato, Machi calmly explained, “They were beaten up by the people at the supply exchange!” Ian listened quietly.
It turned out that surviving here wasn’t impossibly difficult, but the one unavoidable hurdle was the man in charge of exchanging supplies.
His name was Ansa, a pot-bellied, arrogant fat man.
“That fat guy is named Ansa.
Everyone says he has a black heart and is incredibly stingy,” Machi explained calmly.
“That damn fatso definitely skimmed our food!” Nobunaga suddenly shouted from the side, filled with indignation.
It turned out there had been an issue when they went to exchange their supplies, leading to a conflict.
Uvogin and Nobunaga had naturally fought back.
However, the man had a group of thugs on his side.
The two boys were no match for them and ended up beaten into this miserable state.
“When we work hard and still can’t fill our stomachs, it naturally means someone has stolen the food that rightfully belongs to us,” Ian sighed softly after hearing their story.
Hearing the stranger’s words, Uvogin clenched his fists.
He shot Ian a glare and said coldly, “I’m definitely going to kill that fat bastard someday!” Ian frowned slightly at those words.
*’Such intense bloodlust!’* After a moment of thought, Ian offered some advice.
“Before you have enough strength, keeping a low profile is the smart choice.” “Besides…” He paused, glancing at Machi.
Remembering what had happened earlier today, he finally decided to speak up.
“Because of your injuries, your companion was almost killed while out looking for food today…” “She only managed to keep her life because she happened to run into me…” “If it weren’t for me, I think you would have learned…
just how heavy a price you have to pay for a moment of impulsive anger…”
