Machi stared curiously at the Disassembler that had suddenly appeared.

Renn dragged Johnson’s corpse over and threw it inside.

“Ding!”

“Disassembly successful. EXP gained: 18.”

Two Clear Cube Fragments appeared.

“Biological Energy acquired: 8.”

“Firearms Fundamentals acquired: 6. Current progress: 73%.”

“Combat Fundamentals acquired: 9. Current progress: 54%.”

Renn then tossed the remaining three corpses into the Disassembler as well.

From the four bodies, he obtained a total of six Clear Cube Fragments.

After circulating once through Renn’s body, the Biological Energy gradually faded away.

He had no injuries now, so there was nothing for it to heal.

However, Renn noticed that the Biological Energy hadn’t completely dissipated.

Instead, a small portion of it had strengthened his physique.

The effect was faint, but it was definitely there.

“Renn, here are the gemstones I have left.”

During the battle, Renn had only used one fragment.

After he killed three people, the rest had fled.

Things had gone much the same way on Machi’s side.

Once she killed one person, everyone else ran.

“Keep them. We’re bound to run into fights again sooner or later. You’ll need them.”

Machi nodded and tucked the Clear Cube Fragment into her clothes.

With a thought, Renn made the Disassembler disappear.

“Machi, thank you.”

“Hm?”

“Thank you for agreeing to make that deal with me back then.”

At the time, Renn had proposed the deal because he had no other choice.

From what he knew of Meteor City, this was a place where people preyed on one another.

Getting help from a complete stranger was extremely difficult.

Even offering a trade gave him only the slightest chance of being accepted.

If he had encountered someone other than Machi that day, there was a very real possibility they would have simply killed him.

“I trusted my intuition.”

Machi said, “My intuition told me your offer was genuine and that you had no intention of harming me. That’s why I agreed.”

“My intuition is very accurate. It’s helped me avoid trouble many times.” Follow the newest chapters on g.com.

Suddenly, the roar of an airship engine came from overhead.

Renn looked up and saw an airship hovering directly above the garbage heap they were standing on.

“Clank!”

A hatch opened along the bottom of the airship.

The next moment, an enormous torrent of garbage poured out.

Machi’s eyes lit up.

“Renn, hurry. We need to gather supplies.”

“There’ll definitely be plenty of useful resources in a fresh dump like this.”

Renn nodded.

After spending several days in Meteor City, he no longer felt much resistance toward scavenging through garbage.

Most people in Meteor City survived this way.

Besides, Renn had the Disassembler.

Even trash could yield surprisingly useful things for him.

“We split up. Food takes priority.”

“If anyone tries to fight you over something, use the gemstones immediately.”

Renn handed Machi three Clear Cube Fragments.

Together with the one she still had from before, Machi now possessed four.

Renn had five.

“Okay.”

Renn rushed toward the top of the garbage heap.

A corpse entered his field of vision.

The man was dressed in a black suit, his clothes covered in blood.

His eyes were still wide open in death, and one hand remained clenched tightly around a gun.

Clearly, he had been a mafia member, just like the previous owner of Renn’s current body.

Most likely, he had died during a conflict.

“Disassembler!”

Renn didn’t waste any time reflecting on it.

He immediately threw the corpse inside.

“Clack, clack!”

The gears began to turn.

“Disassembly successful. EXP gained: 31.”

“Firearms Fundamentals acquired: 14. Current progress: 87%.”

“Combat Fundamentals acquired: 24. Current progress: 78%.”

“Nen Fundamentals acquired: 30. Current progress: 38%.”

Renn’s eyes lit up. Follow the newest chapters on g.com.

“This mafia member actually knew some Nen?”

“Then I should keep looking for corpses. If this came from a clash between mafia groups, there’s no way only one person died.”

“And if this guy knew Nen, then whoever killed him was most likely a Nen user too.”

Renn’s priorities immediately changed.

Food was certainly important.

But in Meteor City, strength was even more important.

With enough strength, there would always be a way to obtain food.

But having plenty of food without the strength to protect it meant he might not be able to keep it at all.

A second corpse entered Renn’s sight.

“Disassembly successful. EXP gained: 28.”

“Firearms Fundamentals acquired: 12. Current progress: 99%.”

“Swordsmanship Fundamentals acquired: 23. Current progress: 23%.”

“Nen Fundamentals acquired: 19. Current progress: 57%.”

Then came a third.

“Firearms Fundamentals progress has reached 100%. Upgrading to Firearms Mastery. Current progress: 1%.”

A torrent of information flooded into Renn’s mind.

Immediately afterward, he realized that his understanding of firearms had increased countless times over.

Aiming angles, wind speed, and countless other factors now surfaced naturally in his mind.

“A mastery-level skill is far stronger than a fundamentals-level one!”

Renn couldn’t help but smile.

Still, what he looked forward to even more was reaching 100% progress in Nen Fundamentals.

What kind of change would happen to him then?

He moved on to the fourth corpse.

“Combat Fundamentals progress has reached 100%. Upgrading to Combat Mastery. Current progress: 0%.”

A flood of combat knowledge poured into Renn’s mind.

His fighting ability immediately rose to the mastery level.

If he faced Johnson again now, Renn wouldn’t even need a Clear Cube Fragment.

With his combat skills alone, he could easily defeat Johnson—and all the men Johnson had brought with him.

More and more people had begun appearing at the foot of the garbage heap.

They had seen the airship stop here and rushed over as quickly as they could.

In a sense, they were all competitors for Renn and Machi.

Renn glanced down the slope, then turned back.

Not far away lay a severed arm.

For some reason, that severed arm gave Renn an extremely dangerous feeling.
