“It works fast. A few sips and the pain will be gone.”

Bo Yin was wearing gloves.

Not combat gloves, but the everyday kind.Full novel: Husband? Only Choose the Unhinged, Older, Dark, Love-Rivalry Type. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Made from some unknown material, they were smooth and perfectly conformed to the contours of his hands.

The cold, gleaming black had an inexplicably sensual quality.

Wuning’s cheeks grew even hotter. She hurriedly averted her gaze and, in her fluster, took a big gulp of the medicine, causing her to wince sharply from the pain.

It was choking, rough, and painful.

Fortunately, the pain eased almost immediately. Wuning didn’t dare let her mind wander again and slowly sipped through the straw.

Several minutes later, she finally finished the medicine with the man’s hand still holding it.

“Open your mouth.” Bo Yin set down the empty vial and gently gripped the girl’s delicate jaw with his fingers.

Wuning opened her mouth slightly, thinking he was checking to make sure she had finished the medicine.

But Bo Yin applied a bit more pressure with his fingers, tilting her head back and forcing her mouth open wider.

Her throat wasn’t as swollen now.

“If you have no objections, we’ll head back now. They need you.” Bo Yin released his grip.

After undergoing Mental Power guidance, the Polluted would always experience a withdrawal period from the Medic.

It could last minutes, hours, or even days, varying from person to person.

In the past, they never became infatuated or obsessed with anyone.

But now, just from the look of sheer ecstasy trembling in Cook’s eyes, it was clear that if he didn’t bring the girl back today, Cook might very well have his ribs broken by his comrades on the training grounds.

Wuning nodded.

Nowadays, such minor injuries were nothing to the human body. As for Mental Power, it would gradually recover with rest.

Of course, recovery would be faster in the hospital’s dedicated Treatment Pods, and the Medics would be more comfortable and less stressed.

Wuning could accept being less comfortable—everything was for the mission.

But she never expected Bo Yin to just snatch a Treatment Pod and take it back!

Literally snatched.

As the small spacecraft departed from the base hospital, Wuning saw many people shouting, shaking their fists, and even firing shots in their direction.

She fell silent.

Ah… with this kind of behavior, it’s no wonder people fear and dislike them!

They could have just filed a report and requested one, couldn’t they?

Returning to the 191 exclusive zone.

As soon as the spacecraft hatch opened, a figure slipped inside with agility that belied his tall, imposing stature.

Then, he swiftly tucked the girl into his arms and carried her away.

Wuning was immediately buried in the Special Operative’s well-developed pectoral muscles, bumping her head until she felt dizzy.

So, so hard!

“Be careful!” Garnet, who hadn’t managed to get his chance, paced anxiously nearby.

Faced with his companions’ predatory stares and the undercurrents of tension, Cook chose to ignore them, pressing his cheek against the top of the girl’s head and nuzzling gently.

Gani had put on his everyday mask, his round, ice-blue eyes like the sea fixed unblinkingly on Wuning as he exclaimed excitedly, “She’s like a little peanut! So tiny!”

Then he looked longingly at Cook. “Are you done holding her? It’s my turn!”

Wuning glanced at Gani’s height, which exceeded two meters, and silently accepted the nickname “little peanut.”

“Alright, alright,” Sanchez said with a smile as he walked over, smoothly pushing Gani aside. His tone was polished and gentle. “She’s not fully recovered yet. She needs rest. Let’s take her back to the dorm first.”

Cook and Gani paused, looking over in unison. “Whose dorm?”

Although they were comrades who had faced life and death together, they also cursed each other with the most venomous words.

The Polluted also needed very private spaces to vent their energy, so each of the five occupied their own corner of the base.

The question of whose dorm Wuning would stay in became a problem.

“I can stay in a military tent.” The girl coughed a few times and proposed a solution.

Just being in the middle of the pentagon should be fine.

That way, everyone would be the same.

No one was very satisfied. Garnet and Sanchez argued noisily, while Eli seized every opportunity to stir up trouble.

Bo Yin was using the communicator to send messages to someone.

As for Cook, he ignored his companions’ quarrels and instead took the chance to desperately press his face into the girl’s neck, breathing deeply.

“Won’t you touch me?” he whispered.

Wuning was taken aback. “Touch you?”

Cook nodded. “Other medics all do this.”

Wuning wasn’t sure how others provided comfort, but since it sounded like standard procedure, she would just follow along.

The girl reached out, touched Cook’s soft hair, and then stroked downward to gently knead his earlobe.

Cook was about to roll his eyes in pleasure again.

Just a simple touch, and ecstasy and a flood-like desire completely overwhelmed his mind.

The base of her palm pressed against the cold face shield, and Wuning shivered from the chill, sucking in a sharp breath. “Hiss—”

How could it be so cold?!

Could facial skin even withstand that?

The girl’s soft gasp interrupted the nearby commotion. Garnet glared at Cook unhappily. “You scared her!”

Sanchez glanced at Bo Yin, who had already put down his communicator at some point and was quietly watching them. He walked over and said sternly, “Alright, Cook.”

“She should be lying in the treatment pod.”

Cook was annoyed, but he didn’t dare gamble with Wuning’s health. He reluctantly let go.

Wuning temporarily lay down in the treatment pod.

While she rested, the others anxiously paced outside.

“How likely is it that we could grab the construction team and order them to build a dormitory in one afternoon?” Cook asked seriously.

Eli rolled his eyes. “You might as well say kill everyone in the base so she can have it all to herself.”

Garnet blinked. “Is that possible?”

“Of course not, you idiot!” Eli snapped irritably.

Although Garnet’s thoughts were erratic and uncontrollable, his combat skills were definitely not low. After being called an idiot by Eli several times in a row, he couldn’t help getting angry. He smashed a table with his fist and shouted loudly, “Don’t! Call me! An idiot!”

Eli smiled like a poisonous flower, his hand already resting on his weapon. “Mhm, idiot. No one likes you, and you don’t even need comfort because your brain is so empty it can’t be affected by pollution!”

Garnet was truly furious and was about to charge at Eli when a firm but not overly loud command made both of them freeze in place.

“Enough.” Bo Yin lifted his eyelids, his gray eyes heavy with emotion.

When Wuning woke up from her rest, she found only Bo Yin remained in the base, sitting beside the treatment pod handling military affairs.

Bo Yin was not only the captain of Squad 191 but also the leader of the Polluted, holding the rank of major general.

“Where are the others?” Wuning opened the pod door from inside and sat up.

“On a mission.” Bo Yin looked over, tapped a few times on the operation interface, and checked the girl’s physical condition. “Anywhere else uncomfortable?”

Wuning touched her neck, assessed herself, and shook her head. “Should be fine now.”

Bo Yin nodded and sat back to continue with his official duties.

The atmosphere grew quiet. Wuning wasn’t sure what to say or do.

In the past, her missions were always detailed—go to a certain place, do a certain thing.

Otherwise, she could pretend to sleep and slack off in her head, chatting and gossiping about all sorts of things with the System.

Now, being asked to act freely and follow her heart, she had no experience and didn’t know what to do.

She had never been herself while carrying out missions before, and Wuning had long forgotten how.

Bo Yin noticed the girl’s confusion and put down the communicator. “Is there something you want to ask?”

There were indeed many things she wanted to ask, but she didn’t know where to start.

Wuning’s gaze swept over Bo Yin. “Um… why do you wear masks?”

“Cook’s mask is very cold. Does it have some special function?”

Bo Yin looked at her quietly. “Don’t be curious about that.”

Wuning obediently said “oh” and fell silent. After thinking for a moment, she decided it would be better to lie down and sleep.

The hatch closed.

After a while, Bo Yin opened it from the outside.

“Did you see Cook’s body?” he asked.
