Qin Hao was not afraid. Looking into Jinx’s eyes, he asked with a smile:
“Do you really like Nada Dolls?”
“Do you really need to ask?” Jinx walked up to Qin Hao. “I love it madly, I’m obsessed with it, and I wish I could embrace it for the rest of my life.”
Qin Hao shook his head. “No, Jinx. You can deceive others, and even deceive yourself, but you can’t deceive me. You don’t love it at all. Deep down, you loathe it, hate it, and fear it.”
“You’re talking nonsense! It’s my most beloved toy and my best companion! How could I hate it?” Jinx looked like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, her hair standing on end.
“Is that so? Do you really believe that?” Qin Hao looked into her eyes. “Your childhood was tragic and miserable. That day, after your parents gave you a Nada Doll, you witnessed them being murdered by burglars. Your Nada Doll was stained with your parents’ blood.”
“Shut up!” Jinx shrieked as she swung her punch straight at Qin Hao’s chest.
During this process, blue electric arcs covered her head. This was the prisoner chip. Once the power they drew upon reached a certain limit, it would be triggered.
The activation of the prisoner chip caused Jinx immense pain, and the power she used was also greatly reduced.
Nevertheless, Qin Hao was still sent flying by a punch, crashing heavily into the wall.
Pfft!
He spat out a mouthful of blood and continued speaking as though it were nothing:
“If that were all, perhaps it could be endured, but destiny still held tremendous malice toward you. After your parents died, you depended on your Grandparents for survival. You continued to keep the Nada Doll your parents had given you, but misfortune struck once again.”
“One day, while you were playing by the river, you accidentally dropped the Nada Doll into the water. Your grandmother went to retrieve it, but accidentally fell into the water. Your Grandfather went to save her, but never managed to surface again.”
“Shut up!” Jinx roared frantically, while the electric arcs above her head grew brighter and thicker. Her body was suffering an intense assault.
But the pain in her body was nothing compared to the agony in her heart. The memories she had buried, the scars that had almost healed, had been ruthlessly torn open by Qin Hao, leaving them raw and bloody, causing unbearable pain.
“A single Nada Doll took the lives of your four closest family members. You became an orphan and endured bullying, loneliness, and even abuse. You loathed it and feared it, yet you had no choice but to carry it with you because it was the last gift your parents had given you. Trapped in this contradiction, you began deceiving yourself. You kept telling yourself that you loved it, that you were obsessed with it, and that you and it were inseparable.”
“And you like dressing every victim up to look like a Nada Doll because you want to see the Nada Doll’s suffering, fear, and remorse!”
“Enough! Stop talking!”
Jinx clutched her head and roared in agony.
Qin Hao slowly walked up to her and gently stroked her cheek, allowing the prisoner chip’s current to pass through his body.
He looked into Jinx’s eyes and said seriously:
“Do not fear your past. Only by facing it can you defeat it. No matter how perfect your camouflage is, there will come a day when it is exposed. No matter how far you run, there will ultimately come a moment when you must face it. Do you know who suffered more than you? Your parents. They regretted giving you that Nada Doll every moment of every day. They gave you the gift hoping you would be happy, but who could have known it would give you an inescapable nightmare?”
Hearing his words, Jinx began to wail with all her strength, and her tears finally burst forth.
Qin Hao cradled her head against his shoulder and whispered gently into her ear:
“A nightmare is ultimately only a nightmare. Once you awaken, everything will fade away. Jinx, you have trapped yourself for far too long, and you have also trapped your parents for far too long. Wake up. Set your parents free, and let yourself receive redemption.”
Upon hearing this, Jinx’s body began to tremble violently. She suddenly opened her mouth wide and sank her teeth into Qin Hao’s shoulder.
Blood instantly spilled out, and the Chip judged Jinx’s action to be a malicious attack. The most powerful current was released from it, enveloping both Jinx and Qin Hao.
Jinx’s vision turned completely White.
After an unknown amount of time, the white light gradually softened, and several figures appeared around her.
Qin Hao was standing beside her.
When he saw her look over, Qin Hao smiled at her and pointed ahead.
She turned her head and saw an utterly astonishing sight. Not far away stood four people she missed beyond words:
Her parents and her Grandparents.
“Daddy, Mommy, Grandpa, Grandma!” she cried out joyfully as she ran toward them, just as she had in childhood.
Her parents, Grandpa, and Grandma smiled lovingly as well, taking turns pulling her into their arms.
Nestled in their embrace, she told them about the pain she had endured over the years, pouring out her suffering, loneliness, and fear.
They comforted and guided her in gentle voices.
Looking at their familiar, loving faces and listening to their caring, indulgent voices, she wept torrents of tears.
Though her tears flowed freely, boundless warmth gradually arose in her heart. Affection warmed her frozen heart.
She wished with all her heart that this moment could last forever.
Yet happiness always passed quickly, and parting would eventually come.
The light around them gradually faded. Her mother gently stroked her hair and said softly:
“Sweetheart, we have to leave. From now on, you must take good care of yourself.”
“No, I want to go with you!” she said in a panic.
“Silly child, we have to leave eventually. You still have your own path to walk,” her Father said with a smile.
With tearful eyes, Jinx shook her head. “I don’t want to be alone!”
“Silly child, how could you be alone? You have a friend,” her grandmother said.
“I don’t have any friends,” Jinx said gloomily, shaking her head.
“My good granddaughter, if you have no friends, then who is he?” Her Grandfather pointed at Qin Hao.
“He…” Jinx froze, unsure how to describe him.
The sky gradually darkened, and the figures of the group began to blur. Her mother said:
“Good girl, we have to leave, but believe this: one day, we will meet again.”
Jinx sobbed and rushed forward to embrace them, but she could no longer touch them.
“Sweetheart, give us back the Nada Doll in your hand,” her Father said at that moment.
Jinx lowered her head and saw that, at some point, a Nada Doll had appeared in her hands.
Looking at the familiar doll, she raised her head and glanced at her relatives, who were about to disappear. Then she suddenly shook her head:
“No. It was a gift from you, and I’ll carry it with me forever.”
“You no longer hate or fear it?”
Jinx shook her head. “No. It’s just an ordinary doll. It’s innocent too!”
Hearing her words, her parents and Grandparents all smiled in relief.
Then, a dazzling light suddenly erupted throughout the heavens and earth once more.
Her relatives disappeared, and she returned to the psychological counseling room.
Her severely injured body collapsed helplessly to the ground. Qin Hao had also fallen beside her.
She opened and closed her mouth, murmuring:
“Do you know? Everyone I killed was scum who trafficked children.”
“If I didn’t know that, then why would I have saved you…”
