Mina found herself in utter chaos.
The nobles here were mostly a bunch of debauched people, drunkards, gamblers, and all sorts of people who had come here to enjoy themselves. However, not all of them were like that. There were also some nobles who were more serious, and a few Transcendents were among them.
As the nobles screamed and cursed, demanding to know who the people were and who dared to cause trouble here, Mina saw a familiar figure with golden hair walking leisurely through the chaos.
The man didn’t seem bothered by the shouting around him. His steps remained calm as he walked forward, while several Knights of the Church of Light followed behind him.
"We are from the Church of Light and are responsible for investigating the secret organization."
The golden-haired man stopped and looked at the nobles.
"I am Hector."
He calmly gave his name before continuing.
"I am a Protector of the Church of Light, and I have been assigned to investigate this matter."
His voice remained calm and steady even as the nobles continued screaming around him.
"How dare you!"
"Do you know where you are?"
"You can’t just barge in here!"
"Get out!"
Several nobles cursed angrily as they pointed towards Hector and the Knights behind him.
Some of them were drunk, while others looked furious at being interrupted. A few Transcendents also stood hidden among them with cold expressions, clearly unhappy about the sudden intrusion.
Hector didn’t react to their words.He simply stood there calmly and looked at them.
"I will ask you to please cooperate and lay down your weapons.".
It was then that a masked man slowly rose up from behind a table.
The masked man looked towards Hector and the Knights before speaking.
"You see, we have some reputation to maintain, so we can’t let ourselves get arrested."
Saying this, he shot his hand forward.
A burst of air waves exploded towards the Knights.The nearest Knight immediately raised his sword and slashed through the incoming attack.
BOOM!
The air wave was cut apart, but the force still pushed the Knight several steps backward.
Following that, several guns were fired at the Knights of the Church.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The Knights immediately pulled out their swords and shields to defend.
Steel clashed against bullets as the Knights moved through the room.
Soon, chaos ensued.
People started running around and created havoc as they tried to escape.
Tables were overturned, chairs were pushed aside, and several people screamed while trying to find a safe place.
The staff workers also started running, while those who had been standing on the stage quickly fled from the scene.
Mina saw the chaos getting worse and quickly sneaked towards a corner.
She lowered her head and changed her appearance into a male before making herself as inconspicuous as possible.
Then she ran towards the stairs while cursing under her breath.
"Damnn"
She quickly glanced behind her before continuing.
"How can that man be so heartless... Leaving such a young maiden to handle it on her own."
Mina climbed up the stairs swiftly.
Her steps were quick, but she still tried not to make too much noise.
However, just as she reached the upper section, she paused.
Footsteps were drawing closer.
Mina’s expression changed.
She quickly turned around and jumped down, rolling across the stairs swiftly.
Coming down she crawled on the floor before taking cover under one of the tables.
She pressed herself against the floor and held her breath.Steps echoed across the passage as people walked around.
Mina slowly peeked out from beneath the table.
She sighed in relief when she saw them pass by.
’Thank goodness.’
But before she could move, a blade suddenly passed across the table, only a few inches away from her.
Mina’s eyes widened.
She quickly squeezed herself further back, but while doing so, her body hit the table top with thud.
The soft sound echoed through the place.
Mina bit her lips.
The sword immediately came down and cleaved the table apart.
CRACK!
Mina quickly jumped out of the way.
As she came out from beneath the broken table, her eyes widened when she saw the familiar golden-haired man standing in front of her.
Her face stiffened.
’Of all people...’
Mina cursed her fate.
Hector turned to look at Mina with a scowl. His eyes narrowed as he studied her face.
"Have we met?" he asked with genuine shock.
"In your dreams!"
Mina snorted and quickly spun around to get up and run.
"Now I am sure we have met!"
Saying this, Hector immediately chased after her.
Mina ran through the crowded hall as Hector followed close behind. He swung his sword towards her, but she quickly ducked and moved to the side.
SHING!
The blade passed over her head.
"Damn it!"
Mina gritted her teeth and kept running.
She moved between the panicking people while Hector followed behind her. Several nobles screamed as Mina pushed past them, and some nearly fell over when Hector came charging through.
Mina suddenly jumped onto a table and ran across it before sliding over the other side.
Hector followed without slowing down.
He stepped onto the table and swung his sword again.
Mina bent her body backwards, and the blade passed just above her.
She quickly regained her balance and continued running.
"Stop!"
"I don’t have time for this!"
Mina shouted while running ahead.
She pushed through another group of people and quickly turned into another passage.
Hector followed right behind her.
The two soon reached an inner chamber.
Mina burst through the door, and Hector entered after her.
The chamber was filled with people, and several cages were placed around the room. Strange animals were locked inside them, and some of them began making loud noises when the two rushed past.
People screamed and moved away as Mina ran between the cages.One of the cages shook as an animal inside slammed against the bars.
Mina didn’t stop.
She quickly jumped over a fallen chair and continued running while Hector chased after her.
Finally, Mina reached the other side of the chamber and turned around.
Hector also stopped for a moment.
He looked at her with a sharp gaze.
"There are so many people out here, but why are you chasing only me!" she roared.
"Because you are dangerous!"
"What!"
Mina screamed as she suddenly dropped down.She kicked Hector’s foot, causing him to stumble.
Hector’s body tilted forward, but he quickly swept around with a thrust.
Mina dodged the attack and stepped back.
Hector moved forward again, but Mina suddenly activated her illusion ability.
The scene around Hector changed.
His eyes narrowed as he suddenly stopped.
He looked around, trying to understand what had happened.
Mina sighed in relief when she saw this.
"Thank God! I can run now."
She quickly turned around and was about to take a step.
Then she suddenly paused.
A cold feeling ran down her back.
"I think I remember you now!"
Mina’s back stiffened.She slowly turned around and looked at Hector with sheer horror.
’He saw through my guise.’
’Impossible.’
Hector stood inside the illusion, but his eyes were still fixed in her direction.
"You belong to the Demoness Tribe, right?"
"WHAAATT!"
Mina shouted in disbelief.Her eyes widened as she stared at him.
Hector suddenly moved and his sword flashed as he shot towards Mina.
Mina’s expression changed as she prepared to jump away.
But before Hector could reach her, something suddenly passed through the wall and the attack struck Hector and sent him flying to the side.
