The Inquisitor slowly walked back and grabbed the blade. He pulled it up from the floor and was about to turn around when he suddenly paused.
His eyes fell on a figure lying on the floor.
A white mask covered the person’s face, and his body remained completely still.
The Inquisitor stared at him for a moment.Noticing no movements from the figure, after a few seconds, the Inquisitor turned around and started walking away.
But after taking a few steps, he suddenly stopped.
He abruptly turned on his heels and swung the blade towards the figure on the floor.
SHING!
The sharp blade cut through the air.
Grim’s eyes opened slightly.
He slapped the floor with one hand and jerked his knees up, using the force to jump into the air and dodge the blow.
The blade passed just beneath him.
Grim landed on his knees and looked up at the Inquisitor.
The Inquisitor’s face hardened as he tightened his grip on the sword.
"Die... You scumbag."
He thrust his sword forward.
Grim quickly moved his body to the side, and the sword passed right beside him.
The Inquisitor didn’t stop.He followed with a few more stabs and slashes, but Grim continued to avoid every attack. He moved his head, twisted his body, and stepped aside at the right moments.
"How?"
The Inquisitor scowled in shock.
He could clearly feel that the person in front of him wasn’t a Transcendent, but his reflexes were quite subtle.
The Inquisitor grabbed the blade tightly and made a narrow swing towards Grim.
Grim immediately jumped over it.
His feet came down directly on the Inquisitor’s feet with a crunching force.
"Ga..."
BANG!
Before the man could finish speaking, Grim punched directly at his nostrils.
His head jerked back from the impact.
Grim followed it with a right arm jab, and then he pulled his knee back before shoving it straight into the man’s torso.
"Baahh!"
The man spat juice from his lips as his body bent forward.
He stumbled backwards and collapsed onto the floor.
His scream attracted everyone’s attention.
Several people turned towards the passage, and some of the Inquisitors started moving in that direction.
But Grim ignored them.
He quickly got up and ran straight through the narrow passage that led towards the private suite.
"Go..."
"Chase after him."
The voices of the Inquisitors echoed from behind as they rushed after him.
The inquisitor rushed to the passage running around until one of the men shouted.
"Stop..Where did he go?"
He then looked around at private lounges.
"Go and search each of the private rooms."
"Yes sir!"
The followers nodded and started searching around, meanwhile the leader of the ground went back while cursing,"This place is totally filthy."
"Hector was right. This world needs cleansing."
As the passage became empty, a sigh escaped up above.
"This body is really something else."
Grim had grabbed one of the lamp stands on the wall and propelled himself into the air. The ceiling had small beam supports running across the roof, one of which he had grabbed.
He had stayed for some time but didn’t feel any soreness. The body was quite capable of being in a state of pressure.
The earlier man he fought, though a low-key nobody, was a Seal 1 Transcendent.
Most of the inquisitors follow the Shadow or Darkness lineage. The first seal unlock didn’t give them extraordinary strength yet they are better than average humans.
’I certainly could pack more if I tried.’
Grim waited until the man broke through the door, followed by foul curses and screams.
Sensing no sign of someone’s abrupt appearance, he jumped down trying to land as softly as possible.
CRANG!
A faint creaking sound echoed.
"Damn!"
"Someone is outside."
"Run!" Grim muttered inwardly and dashed ahead.
*****
BANG!
BANG!
Bullets flew in the air and things were thrown around in utter chaos.
The black-robed man dodged.
"Where did he go?"
"Did someone show up?"
"Who are you talking about?"
"I heard the sound of footsteps."
"Go chase them away."
The Inquisitors searched around the area, checking the narrow passage and looking behind the wooden crates. They moved carefully as they looked for any sign of Grim, but they couldn’t find anything.
After searching for a while, they finally left.
Grim waited until their footsteps disappeared before he slowly shoved a barrel out of the way and walked out.
He looked around carefully.
’Did I leave anything behind?’
His eyes moved across the passage as he checked the area. He remembered the information given by the servant and began to think about the location.
’The eastern service corridor... The one running alongside the private suites toward the old vault rooms.’
He slowly moved forward while keeping his eyes on his surroundings.
The passage eventually led him towards the old vault rooms, where several barrels of fine wine and ales were stored.
Grim looked around at the barrels before walking deeper inside.
’Forty-five minutes near the freight winches...’
He remembered the servant’s information and continued walking.
Soon, he arrived near the heavy iron freight winches.
Grim stopped and stared at them briefly.
His eyes moved over the stone wall as he tried to understand what he was supposed to be looking for.
Then he noticed a number.
4215...
His eyes narrowed slightly.
He was about to overlook it when he suddenly noticed the same kind of numbers written on one of the barrels.
Grim turned his head and began searching the barrels.
He checked one after another, looking for the number.
’4215...’
He moved deeper into the room and continued searching.
His hunch was slowly becoming stronger.
Finally, he found it.
"4215... It’s here."
His eyes lit up as he quickly moved closer to the barrel.
He crouched down and opened it.
Grim looked inside and there was nothing.
The barrel was completely empty.
His expression slowly turned stiff.
"Am I overthinking?"
Grim frowned as he felt his headache throb.
He rubbed his forehead for a moment before looking at the empty barrel again.
Then, in frustration, he kicked it.
BANG!
The barrel slid across the floor.
As it moved away, Grim suddenly noticed something on the wooden wall behind it.
There was a rough patch on the wall.
"This..."
Grim’s expression changed.
He bent down and touched the wall with his fingers. The wooden wall seemed to move slightly inward.
He paused and stared at it.
’Is this...’
Thinking for a moment, Grim placed his hand against the rough patch and pushed.
Creak...
The wooden wall crackled.
The next moment, the wooden floor below him suddenly moved.
A huge space opened beneath his feet.
Grim’s eyes widened.
"Fuckkkk!"
Before he could react, his body slid down into the hidden space.
