After I teleported to Hachioji Dungeon, I headed for the exit while taking down slimes.
When I returned, the first slime I’d defeated earlier – the one that burst the moment my mallet touched it – was obviously because my level had gone up. I tried putting the dropped Magic Stone and the marble into [Subspace Storage]. It stored just fine. Then I tried pulling out the Goblin Silk I’d gotten in Luna World. It came out just fine. Looks like my skills work on Earth, too.
I Appraised the slime’s marble.
’Skill Orb (empty): Can bestow a skill.’
What the heck is this? The shop wouldn’t even buy these marbles from me because they were “unidentified objects.” I’ve never heard of anyone on Earth having skills, so people probably don’t know about Skill Orbs either. I’ll have to keep this a secret.
I brought up my Status Window and removed the disguise on my Gaia Points (GP) display. The number showed “Gaia Points: 500/500” – no change. Looks like I don’t earn GP in Luna World.
I conjured a light using [Life Magic] – [Light] – and brightened the area around me. If anyone saw me doing that, they’d make a fuss about it. I was careful, but later, Hachioji Dungeon got a reputation for having “wandering will-o’-the-wisps.” Whoops. That was me.
Using [Presence Detection] and [Map], I carved through the slimes smoothly. Just ten hours ago, I’d been fighting for my life. Now it was just a chore. Levels and skills are incredible – they make that much of a difference.
As I was taking down slimes, I heard the “Mysterious Voice.” It said I’d acquired [Leap] and [Limberness]. So monsters here can have skills too. I’d like to visit other dungeons.
I Appraised the skills.
[Leap]: Enables jumping higher and farther.
[Limberness]: Makes the body more flexible.
I tried them out. I could jump way higher than before, my joints had better range of motion, and my muscles felt looser. I was definitely more agile.
Since I could take down slimes so easily, I decided to test whether I could use the MP I’d gained in Luna World. I tried circulating mana through my body the same way I circulate Gaia Points (GP). At first, I couldn’t feel anything moving at all. But when I stopped and concentrated, the mana started to flow – slowly, following the path of my GP. Once it got going, I felt an unpleasant crawling sensation all over my body and a wave of nausea. It passed after about ten minutes.
I haven’t tried wrapping myself in mana yet. I have no idea what would happen if I released it on Earth, where there’s no mana naturally. If my MP suddenly ran dry, that’d be a problem. Still, I think it’s probably fine – I can use Light, and it seems like my [Life Magic] costs almost no MP, just like in Luna World.
After I took down my fifty-sixth slime, I saw the familiar dungeon exit. I opened the door and was hit by the early-summer evening sunlight.
”Lord Hachioji! I’m home!!” I shouted, striking a triumphant pose. It sounded like something straight out of a show.
Wait – evening sunlight? That doesn’t make sense. I teleported from Luna World at 1 AM. Just how long was I down in that dungeon?
