“What?!” Maya was dumbfounded as she watched the person approach with a watch and Morgan’s clothes.

Morgan grew anxious, waving his hands frantically in denial.

I don’t know!”

Luke took the watch, put it on his wrist, and dangled it.

“The evidence is ironclad, and you still won’t admit it?

Hmph, let’s call the police!

Fifteen thousand dollars—that’s enough to put you away for a few years!”

Maya knew something was off about this whole situation.

Luke’s ultimate goal was her, not calling the police.

‘It’s my fault.

I’ve dragged Morgan into this.’

She took a deep breath, suppressing the disgust in her heart, and spoke to Luke in a placating tone, “Luke, let’s talk.”

Luke’s lips curled into a sleazy smile.

“Sure, let’s talk.”

The two of them entered the dealership’s break room and closed the door.

“Spit it out.

What do you want?” Maya got straight to the point.

Luke was still playing dumb, spreading his hands.

“Call the police, I guess.

Oh, but wait, do simpletons even go to jail?”

Maya stared at him coldly.

“Stop pretending.

You know he has nothing to do with this!”

A smile playing on his lips, Luke moved closer to her.

“Of course.

If you’re willing to…

keep me company, I can let this whole thing go.”

He raised his hand, reaching for Maya’s face.

Before he could touch her, Maya slapped out at him!

This time, Luke was prepared.

The slap never landed.

Instead, he caught Maya’s wrist, pulling it to his nose and sniffing it dramatically.

“So fragrant…

just a bit fiery.

But I think I can tame you, don’t you?”

Maya tried to pull her hand back, but she was no match for Luke’s strength.

Humiliated and furious, she cried, “Let go, or I’ll report you for indecent assault!”

Luke was unconcerned.

“Indecent assault?

I’ll report you for seduction.”

“Pah!

Seduce you?

Why don’t you take a good long look in the mirror!” Held by him, Maya was so uncomfortable and incensed she forgot her original intention was to negotiate.

“Your husband stole from me.

You, in order to protect him, tried to make a private deal with me by seducing me.

Is that so hard to understand?

Hmm?”

Luke savored Maya’s indignant expression, as if admiring a small prey caught in his claws, unable to escape.

Flames of fury danced in Maya’s eyes.

“You’re shameless!

I wouldn’t be interested in you even if you were the last man on Earth!”

Luke chuckled.

“Fine.

Then I’ll just call the police.

Let’s see if you’re still so tough when they get here.”

Call the police.

Maya fell silent.

‘Morgan is afraid of the police; he’d be terrified.’

Her voice softened.

“You can’t call the police.

What do you want?”

Luke released her.

“You know the answer.”

Maya fell silent.

‘I’d die before I let Luke touch me.’

Her gaze shifted downward, landing on Luke’s watch.

“Is that really a Rolex?

Are you that rich?” Her voice had lost its aggressive edge.

Luke said smugly, “Maya, my wealth is beyond your imagination.

I even own a large supermarket on Waverly Road.

Being with me is a thousand times better than being with that little simpleton.

You’re a woman, why make life so hard for yourself?

Stick with me, and I’ll give you ten thousand a month.”

Maya looked up and smiled.

“So you want to be my sugar daddy?”

“Isn’t that a good deal?

I’ll even buy you a big house, and you can drive any car you want.”

Maya bit her lip, hesitating for a long moment before finally nodding.

“I’ve never worn a watch before.

Give me this one first.

I want to see how sincere you are.”

Luke deftly unfastened the watch and handed it to her.

“It’s yours.

Next time, I’ll buy you a ladies’ watch!”

Maya examined the watch in her hand carefully, a smile appearing in her eyes.

“You’re much more generous than I imagined.”

The break room door opened, and the two emerged, laughing and talking, with Luke’s arm draped over Maya’s shoulder.

Morgan had been staring intently at the door.

When he saw this, his eyes turned red with fury, and he rushed forward.

Everyone else was startled and quickly gathered around.

“It’s all been resolved!

Maya and I are friends, so this whole thing is…” Luke announced smugly.

Maya shot Morgan a sharp look.

He faltered, lowering the fist he had raised to throw a punch.

Maya, also smiling, removed Luke’s arm from her shoulder and stepped away from him.

“Yes, the matter is resolved.

Morgan didn’t scratch your car.

And he didn’t take this cheap knock-off you bought to keep up appearances.”

At these words, everyone was stunned, not least of all Luke himself.

“You…

You’re talking nonsense!

You just admitted it!” Luke became frantic.

“I bought this at a specialty store in the city!

You poor wretch, how dare you say it’s a fake!”

He tried to snatch the watch back, but Maya moved away from him, holding it up for everyone to see.

“Look at the color, the weight, the texture—it’s completely different from the real thing.

This is one hundred percent fake!”

It was a complete fluke.

Just two days ago, she’d been scrolling through videos and watched one from a fashion blogger who introduced this exact watch and even taught a few simple ways to spot a fake.

She had been so flustered today that she had only focused on the ‘stolen’ watch and hadn’t examined it closely.

It was only when she glanced at it just now that she noticed the color was off.

Luke’s face began to flush.

“You’re just making things up!

Trying to slander me to get out of being a thief!”

Morgan took the watch from Maya’s hand and examined it.

His voice was so cold and steady that he sounded nothing like a man with an intellectual disability.

“The original price for this series of watch is over three hundred thousand.

Each one has a unique serial number.”

He looked at Luke.

“You can call the watch company to check the owner’s name.”

He weighed the watch in his hand.

“It’s much too light.

A low-quality fake.”

Now it wasn’t just the others; even Maya was staring at Morgan, dumbfounded.

His words had been perfectly coherent, and his tone carried an authority and pressure that gave the illusion he was a high-level leader, someone whose words were never to be questioned.

Luke flew into a rage.

“You idiot!

Where did you learn all this crap to bluff people?

Over three hundred thousand?

You’re just pulling numbers out of thin air!

Are you really a simpleton or just pretending to be one?!

Call the police!

Let the police figure it out!”

Maya snorted coldly.

“No need to bother the police.

We can just check the security footage.” She turned to the proprietress.

“Ma’am, could you please pull up the security footage?”

The proprietress, dizzied and irritated by the day’s drama, didn’t want to worry about saving face for Luke.

She was about to check the footage to clear her employee’s name and protect her shop’s reputation, but as soon as her gaze fell on Luke, he shot her a glaring frown.

That one look made her understand the truth of the matter.

In the end, Maya and Morgan were insignificant outsiders, while Luke was the local tyrant.

Out of fear, she could only side with him.

She could only say, “I think today was just a misunderstanding.

Let’s just drop it.

Mr.

Larkin, we’ll repair your car for free.

Since the watch has been found, can both of you do me a favor and let this matter go?

Please?”

Maya wanted to say more, but the proprietress looked at her with a pleading gaze, and she had no choice but to drop it.

After all, the proprietress had done her a huge favor by agreeing to hire Morgan in the first place.

Luke didn’t let the proprietress fix the paint.

He got in his car and practically fled in disgrace.

Morgan was indignant.

“But it was clearly his fault!”

Maya comforted him in a gentle voice, “It’s alright, Morgan.

I believe you, and the proprietress believes you too, right?”

She looked at the proprietress as she said the last part.

The proprietress sighed softly.

“You’re a sharp one.

I know Carter was wrongly accused today.”

She patted Morgan’s shoulder.

“I’ll let you go home early today.

Go on.”

Morgan looked at her cautiously.

“You’re not firing me?”

The proprietress smiled.

“I have my own difficulties, but I can still tell right from wrong.

Be here on time tomorrow!”

After sending Maya and Morgan off, her expression instantly changed, turning grim as she went to check the security system.

“Make me a copy of today’s footage!”

On the way back, Maya asked curiously, “Morgan, you were so knowledgeable about that watch.

Did you learn that from TV too?”

Morgan’s brow furrowed slightly as he tried to remember.

“No.

In my memory…

I think I’ve worn a watch like that before.

It feels very familiar.”

“You’ve worn one?

A three-hundred-thousand-dollar watch?!” Maya stared at him, astonished.

“Don’t kid with me.

Don’t tell me you’re some rich family’s young master?!”

“Young master?” Morgan repeated in a mumble.

“I think…

that’s what they used to call me…”

Maya tutted.

“You’re pulling my leg.

If you were really some young master, your rich parents would have found you long ago!”

Her eyes darted around, and then her jaw dropped.

“You don’t mean…

you’re that kind of young master, do you?!”
