Qin Che took a deep breath.

He estimated that the clue for the Hidden Mission Yang Zhi mentioned earlier was this one.

This Hidden Mission clue was meaningless to Qin Che; he had no intention of getting involved in this Hidden Mission at all. All he wanted now was to safely get through the next nine-plus days.Full novel: I Opened A Hotel In The Thriller World — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Qin Che had a headache. He endured the pain to disinfect his wound, then poured a glass of water, took an anti-inflammatory pill, and collapsed onto the bed, falling into a deep sleep.

In his sleep, Qin Che felt someone approach the door of his room. He wanted to open his eyes but found his eyelids felt welded shut, and his limbs were tightly locked onto the bed as if by Shackles.

His breathing was heavy, like a wild beast.

Fortunately, Qin Che had locked the door before sleeping, and the presence only lingered outside the door.

Qin Che’s nervous heart calmed down again, but his attention remained fixed on the heavy breathing sound.

Bang, bang, bang, bang...

The wardrobe began to shake again.

Qin Che held his Breath.

Whatever could make the Mirror Ghost so afraid was now right outside his door.

Suddenly, the heavy breathing sound grew closer.

It’s coming in!

The door hadn't even opened!

Qin Che started to struggle, desperately trying to move a single finger, but he couldn't move at all.

His body began to ache. A massive force touched Qin Che's limbs, as if being torn by hands, and a blood-red image flashed in his mind.

“Move! Move!” Qin Che roared internally.

Suddenly, with a creak, the wardrobe door opened Automatic.

With a snap, a Scarlet Tongue whipped across Qin Che's face.

Qin Che felt the pain but had never felt such relief. He suddenly opened his eyes, and what met his gaze was a ghost's face.

Instantly, Qin Che felt as if his Heart had been struck hard by a sledgehammer.

Qin Che felt he had never been so close to Death. He took out the Brick, preparing to Resist, but both hands were pressed onto the bed by two icy hands. The tearing force intensified, and Qin Che almost felt his hands no longer belonged to him.

At the critical moment, the Mirror Ghost used its Tongue to wrap around the Brick in Qin Che's hand and fiercely smashed it toward the Ghost Shadow.

The Ghost Shadow cried out in pain, finally releasing its grip on Qin Che's hands, retreating repeatedly while emitting angry whimpers.

Qin Che scrambled up from the bed and saw the Ghost Shadow, clad in a long black robe, violently twisting its neck, producing the sound of cracking bones.

Qin Che was horrified and wanted to flee, but the Ghost Shadow lunged toward him.

In the life-or-death moment, a Scarlet Tongue blocked Qin Che's path and lashed out fiercely at the Ghost Shadow.

The Ghost Shadow was enraged. Its hands, dry like deadwood and covered in Corpse Spots, grabbed the Mirror Ghost's Tongue and yanked hard. The long Tongue was actually pulled out of the mirror.

“Brother! Hurry and go!”

Qin Che took out the God-Conquering Mirror and aimed it at the Ghost Shadow.

The Ghost Shadow froze upon seeing the God-Conquering Mirror. Qin Che immediately jumped off the bed, not even putting on his shoes, and rushed straight into the Employee Elevator, pressing the button for the Ninth Floor.

The Elevator began to move, emitting the sound of the motor turning.

Qin Che’s Heart was about to leap out of his chest, and he kept muttering, “Faster, faster!”

Ding—

The Elevator stopped on the Ninth Floor. If Qin Che remembered correctly, Lin Di lived in room 0912.

Qin Che exited the Elevator and ran directly toward the location of 0912.

He swore he had never run so frantically; in just ten seconds, Qin Che covered over a hundred meters, and he was barefoot.

He frantically knocked on the door of 0912 while constantly glancing toward the Elevator and the stairwell.

Under the bright corridor lights, Qin Che finally got a clear look at the Ghost Shadow's appearance.

It was wearing a long black robe, and its terrifying face was covered in large and small Corpse Spots.

Zzzzt—

The corridor lights began to flicker, and the long-robed ghost extinguished a light every time it passed under one.

Watching the increasingly dark corridor, Qin Che cursed loudly, “Lin Di, you damn open the door!”

Thud, the door of 0912 opened, and the entire corridor instantly returned to brightness. The ghost wearing the long black robe had vanished from the hallway.

“Give me one reason not to kill you!” Lin Di angrily opened the door. Seeing it was Qin Che, his expression softened slightly, and he asked, “What’s wrong? Rushing around like that? Damn, don't tell me you got caught lending me your Pass?”

Upon seeing Lin Di, Qin Che’s body instantly went limp, collapsing against the doorframe like a clay figure soaked in rain: “No... no...”

Qin Che gasped for air, a grim smile on his face.

“That’s good then.” Lin Di breathed a sigh of relief and asked again, “What happened, Brother? You look terrified! Want to come in for a bit?”

Qin Che nodded and walked into Lin Di’s room with difficulty.

“It’s a bit messy, don’t mind it.” Lin Di smiled and poured Qin Che a glass of water.

Qin Che downed the water in the glass in one gulp before collapsing weakly onto the Living Room sofa: “Thanks, Brother.”

“What happened? To make you look so disheveled?” Lin Di sat on the armrest of the sofa.

After drinking a glass of water, Qin Che felt a bit better, but he was still shaken: “Wasn’t I slacking off? Earlier, while I was in the Dormitory trying to Sleep, a ghost tried to kill me. If the Mirror Ghost in my room hadn't slapped me and broken the sleep paralysis, I would already be dead in my room.”

“Isn’t the Afterlife Hotel touted as the safest place in the entire Thriller World? How could something like this happen?” Lin Di poured Qin Che another glass of water, puzzled.

Qin Che didn't stand on ceremony and drank the water dry again: “That’s how it is for you Guests, but it’s dangerous for us Waiters. If a Guest is not Satisfied, they can kill us directly.”

“So you provoked a Guest?”

Qin Che shook his head: “Probably not. I was mostly slacking off. The only Guest who gave me a Bad review doesn't look like that either.”

“Why don’t you stay here with me for a while?” Lin Di suggested.

“No, I have to go back and check. The Mirror Ghost in my room blocked that Ghost Shadow for me; I can’t just leave him alone.”

“Alright, then I’ll go with you.” Saying that, Lin Di threw on a coat.

“Thanks.”

“What for? You helped me so much before; I haven't even thanked you yet.”

Qin Che looked at Lin Di, his gaze somewhat complicated, whereas Qin Che had only treated him as a tool.

This guy Lin Di is reliable; he really steps up when there’s trouble.

“Good Brother.” Qin Che gave a bitter smile, then left the room with Lin Di.

Arriving at Qin Che’s room, they saw it was a complete mess. Mirror fragments of various sizes were scattered on the floor, along with a Scarlet Tongue.

Qin Che’s heart suddenly hung in suspense.

The wardrobe door was ajar. Qin Che pulled the door open, only to see that the entire Full-length Mirror was now reduced to just its edges and corners.

“Hey—” Qin Che shouted toward the mirror, “Hey... Mirror Ghost! Are you still there?”

Qin Che began to tremble, his eyes brimming with tears.

Although they hadn't known each other long, he really did Like this ghost who called him Brother.

“Hey! Mirror Ghost!” Qin Che lowered his head, his Shoulders trembling slightly.

He himself would tremble in fear if his hands even slightly touched the Brick, yet just now, it used its Tongue to wrap around the Brick and smash it against that ghost wearing the long black robe.

Wasn't this guy supposed to be quite timid? How could he dare attack a Fierce Ghost of that level?

“There’s no ghost aura in the room; it should be...” Lin Di patted Qin Che’s Shoulder, then stopped speaking.

“Ding! Temporary Mission triggered! Avenge the Mirror Ghost.”

“Reward: One random Gold-quality Ghost Item.”
