Eye-eggs?
What kind of mental contamination was this?
Yan Huang felt goosebumps all over his body, but he still held his breath and made no sound.
This thing covered in eye-eggs was blinking in the hallway, looking left, then right, and even trying to bump against Yan Huang’s door.
However, it didn’t succeed.
But those eyes, one after another, pressing against the door—it truly made one’s heart crawl.
After bumping once without success, the egg seemed to give up. It no longer fixated on Yan Huang’s door, but hopped a couple of times, turned around, and aimed its largest eye at the door across from Yan Huang’s.
All Yan Huang could see was the countless eyes on the back of this egg. No matter how he looked at it, from any angle, there was a feeling of being stared at directly.
Yan Huang did his best to stay silent.
He wanted to see what this egg was really trying to do.
Soon, the egg aimed at the door across the way and slammed against it twice with force.
The door across immediately reacted.
“Not me tonight! Tonight it’s the one across the hall, not me! Get lost!!”
The voice was hoarse, filled with fear, trembling yet roaring—making no attempt whatsoever to hide its presence.
Yan Huang’s mind went blank for a moment.
Tonight it was him, not the one across the hall?
So the person across knew about these things.
But… if he knew, why didn’t he leave?
Yan Huang’s anxiety grew with each passing moment. He pressed his eye against the peephole, not wanting to miss a single detail.
Then he saw it.
The egg had absolutely no intention of letting the person across go.
The man across roared: “Get lost! Didn’t I already say, tonight it’s not me! Let me go… let me go, you!!”
His voice grew weaker, more panicked, more hoarse.
But what thoughts did the egg have?
It didn’t even have a head.
It was just an egg that liked bumping into doors.
The egg’s impact force and frequency grew higher and higher, the noise it made louder and louder. Yan Huang could vaguely see the door shaking violently from the relentless impacts.
The voice inside turned into screams, as if the person was desperately bracing against the door, begging for mercy with wails that reached the heavens.
Such a commotion would be enough to wake everyone in the building.
But in the entire dark hallway, no one noticed, and no one came out.
It was as if all of this was an illusion—such pure noise, yet so eerily silent.
Finally.
The eye-egg seemed to grow angry from its repeated failed attempts. In those densely packed eyes, the gazes turned vicious and sinister.
It seemed to be cursing the person inside for not knowing what was good for him, demanding that he come out immediately.
And then, it stopped all movement. It gathered its strength for a long moment, then launched an unprecedented, powerful strike against the door before it!
Crack—!
Wood splintered, pieces falling to the ground one after another.
Producing a sound both dull and crisp.
Inside the door, the man who had been standing with his back turned, spread out in a star shape, was trembling all over.
He turned around. His entire body was so gaunt he looked like skin and bones—cheekbones protruding, emaciated beyond recognition, eyes lifeless and ringed with layers of dark circles.
And in those lifeless eyes, Yan Huang saw despair and fear.
The man looked down at the egg before him. His legs suddenly gave way, and he collapsed to the ground like mud sliding off, completely devoid of any strength.
He propped himself up with trembling hands, refusing to fall completely, dragging himself backward inch by inch.
As he retreated, he shook his head, gradually sinking deeper into the darker recesses of the room.
“No… don’t come near me, I beg you… don’t come near me.”
“It’s not me tonight… it’s not me tonight! Why are you coming for me… why me?! Why?!”
“Can it be tomorrow? Tomorrow… tomorrow I’ll let you eat me willingly… no… no, not tomorrow… one minute… thirty seconds! I beg you… I can finish it right away, just give me ten seconds!”
“I beg you, don’t come near… don’t come near… I’ll write scripts for you, attract more tourists… more nourishment, don’t drain me… I’ll do anything!”
Tears streamed from his hollow, socket-like eyes. His emotions had completely collapsed—tears flowed endlessly, some trailing down his cheeks, others splashing out as he shook his head wildly.
Yet the eyes on the egg showed no intention of letting him go.
Instead, every single eye, almost in the same instant, narrowed and curved into “n”-shaped crescents, each leaving just a sliver of pupil visible, as if mocking the ignorance of the man before them.
This smile was bone-chilling, so much so that Yan Huang couldn’t help but curse inwardly—how could something so disgusting exist?
The egg hopped, one bounce at a time, toward the man.
The man had no strength left, so he could only turn around and crawl on the ground like a beast, moving with his limbs as best he could.
But in the end, he was indoors—his movement was limited, and eventually, with nowhere left to retreat, his back touched the wall.
“Just ten seconds…”
“Don’t come near… don’t!”
But it was all useless.
The egg hopped over, and finally, its surface touched the man’s body.
In that instant, the man’s expression twisted at a visible speed, turning utterly ferocious. His hands clawed at the empty air, trembling… until they went rigid.
His body went completely stiff. Though he was clearly flesh and blood, golden light began to spill from him.
This golden light was so dazzling that when it covered his entire body, Yan Huang, peeking through the peephole, could barely see.
Then, the man, now fully enveloped in golden light, melted like liquid—collapsing onto the floor in an instant, spreading out thick and viscous, just like egg yolk.
Yan Huang’s heart pounded with shock.
Just by touching, he had already turned into egg liquid?
He began to feel grateful for his own caution… otherwise, the one sprawled on the ground now wouldn’t be his neighbor across the hall… but himself.
Just as he thought the matter was over—
Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle.
A strange drinking sound came through.
Yan Huang snapped back to attention and continued watching the egg.
The egg liquid on the floor was rapidly absorbed, layer by layer, by the giant egg before him.
The egg’s eyes looked pleased and delighted. The egg liquid that was drawn in all spread across the entire egg at a visible speed.
On the outside of the egg, every single eye was covered by this thick, viscous liquid.
Until it was fully covered, with not a single spot missed.
Yan Huang’s breathing slowed.
This scene had a strange allure, pulling his mind to the edge of a trance while also making him unwilling to miss a single moment.
The egg made no further movement, as if frozen in place.
But soon, the liquid that had just covered the egg emitted a blinding, searing light once again.
This light lasted far longer than before, illuminating everything around it as brightly as day.
And from the direction of the egg, a faint cracking sound came through, as if something was trying to break out from within.
Crack.
Crack, crack.
Crack, crack, crack, crack—
The cracking sounds grew more and more frequent. At this moment, Yan Huang even forgot to breathe.
He silently summoned the [Loving Father’s Cleaver] and gripped it tightly in his sweat-soaked palm.
The egg began to shake.
Something was crawling out of it.
Because his back was turned, Yan Huang couldn’t see it at first.
But then—
That thing actually straightened up with surprising agility, its body growing at a visible rate, glossy liquid clinging to its smooth skin.
Yan Huang finally got a clear look at what it truly was.
It was a—
Human!
