Chapter 3 - 1: Arrested as a Suspect After Reporting a Crime

I See Murders Before They Happen

Zhuang Yanzheng saw she was calm and had no reaction to the name. He took the tablet from the uniformed officer, and his gaze paused on her name for a moment.

Without a change in his expression, he glanced at her again.

Then he called out her name. "Su Miaoyi?"

Su Miaoyi nodded. "Yes."

Zhuang Yanzheng looked at her again. "Why are you holding your clothes like that?"

Su Miaoyi lowered her eyes to look at her clothes.

Her right hand was holding the hem of her shirt, her pinky elegantly extended.

She had been holding it like that for a while now.

It was because she had used that part of her shirt as a barrier when she touched the corpse.

’She was terrified!!’

Su Miaoyi didn’t answer.

Zhuang Yanzheng asked again, "What is your relationship to the deceased?"

"I don’t know her. I’ve never seen her before," Su Miaoyi answered truthfully. "I live downstairs, in 1901."

Zhuang Yanzheng frowned. "How did you find the body?"

Su Miaoyi’s lips moved, but she didn’t know how to explain.

Seeing her silence, Zhuang Yanzheng said sternly, "This is a police investigation. We need your cooperation."

His voice was very intimidating.

It was enough to make Su Miaoyi flinch.

Zhuang Yanzheng: "..."

Su Miaoyi hadn’t expected to be so startled by his voice. She scratched her cheek in embarrassment and said, "I don’t know where to begin."

"If you don’t cooperate, I have no problem with bringing you down to the station for a few days," Zhuang Yanzheng said.

Su Miaoyi rolled the candy in her mouth with her tongue, took a deep breath, and said, "This morning, I went to Jinghai City’s Sixth Hospital."

Zhuang Yanzheng handed the tablet to the uniformed officer beside him.

The officer began taking notes.

Jinghai City’s Sixth Hospital was a hospital specializing in the treatment of various psychiatric disorders.

Zhuang Yanzheng didn’t know why she was bringing up the hospital, but he didn’t interrupt her.

"Lately, all sorts of strange... knowledge, I guess, has been popping into my head. I thought there was something wrong with me mentally, so I went to the hospital to see a doctor today," Su Miaoyi said. "Then, while I was waiting for my number to be called, I suddenly saw..."

Su Miaoyi pointed to apartment 2001.

"How she was murdered. A hand with a tattoo on the inner wrist, holding a knife, stabbed her body," Su Miaoyi said. "Later, when I was leaving the hospital, I ran into someone with the exact same tattoo. Then, in that person’s eyes, I saw the murder play out and also saw this apartment number. That’s why I came upstairs to check when I got home. Her door was ajar, so I went in, and then I found her body."

As she spoke, her tone shifted, and she continued, "The man I saw outside the hospital was about five-foot-eleven, weighed around 165 pounds, and looked to be about thirty-five. He walks with uneven shoulders, and his left foot seems to have a slight limp. Also, the victim and the killer probably had some financial dealings. The time I saw him at the hospital... was between 11:58 AM and 12:02 PM, at the east gate of the Sixth Hospital."

She had been looking at her phone at the time and noticed the time.

’I just hadn’t expected to remember it all so clearly.’

’I usually have to check a seat number several times over.’

Su Miaoyi told them everything she had seen and deduced. She also wanted to confirm for herself just what was happening with these visions.

The uniformed officer holding the tablet stared at her with a stiff expression.

Zhuang Yanzheng also stared at her for a moment, then clicked his tongue. "Tsk. Take her in for a drug test."

Su Miaoyi, still holding her shirt with that delicate, pinky-out gesture, leaned against the stairway railing.

Her face was pale, and she looked... utterly wretched.

’Sure enough. No one was going to believe me.’
