“I… I understand, Brother Tianyou. I won’t harass Lili again.”

“Then why aren’t you apologizing yet?” Chen Tianyou urged.

“Huh? I have to apologize too?” The yellow-haired guy looked embarrassed. All the students nearby were his lackeys—if he had to apologize in front of them, where would his pride go?Full novel: I, The Villain, Just Wanted to Be a Nobody, So How Did I Become the Protagonist? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Hurry up, or do you want me to beat you right now?” Chen Tianyou rolled up his sleeves.

“No, no! Brother Tianyou, I’ll apologize!” The yellow-haired guy quickly turned to Qu Lili, “Sorry, Lili. I won’t bother you again!”

“Is that enough now, Brother Tianyou?”

“Good. Now leave. And you lot, go dye your hair back to normal. What’s with this rainbow mess? You’re students, not gangsters—got it?”

“Huh? Even my hair? But this rooster cut cost me over 1,000 yuan…” He looked like he was about to cry.

“You can keep it if you want, but next time I’ll just cut it off myself. How about that?”

“No, no—I’ll go to the salon right after school…”

“Brother Tianyou, we’ll head out now. We won’t take up more of your time.”

With that, the yellow-haired guy and his crew hurried away.

After they left, Chen Tianyou turned with a smile to Su Ling and Qu Lili. “Class monitor, Qu Lili, are you two alright?”

“Hmph!” Su Ling snorted and pulled Qu Lili along toward the teaching building.

What? What did I do now?

Good intentions being mistaken for something rotten!

Chen Tianyou sighed helplessly and followed behind them.

Maybe I should just drop out of school?

The more he thought about it, the more he liked the idea.

After all, he was a Rich Second-Generation Heir. Even without school, his life would still be great. He could take over his father’s company and, with his professional skills from before transmigrating, expand the business massively and reach the peak of life.

Wouldn’t that be the perfect life?

And best of all, he wouldn’t have to see Su Ling anymore, or worry about getting involved with her or Lin Mo again.

Yes, no time like the present!

…

Outside the school gates.

Lin Mo was walking with two steamed buns in hand, munching as he went. Heavy dark circles hung under his eyes—he hadn’t slept well all night.

The place he was living in now was broken and filthy, an absolutely miserable environment. Before his rebirth, he had been a top-tier tycoon, used to luxury. Living like this again felt unbearable.

Looking at the stale yellow bun in his hand, Lin Mo took a vicious bite.

Just a little longer!

Once he cashed in the lottery ticket, all this would end!

By then, he’d have the campus belle in his arms, live in a mansion, and enjoy the highest life imaginable!

Just as he stepped into the school, he ran into the group of delinquents led by the yellow-haired guy.

“Brother Kun, what’s up with Brother Tianyou today? He’s like a whole different person.”

“Who knows? Damn it, I worked so hard on this hairstyle, and now I have to cut it? I’m heartbroken!” the yellow-haired guy moaned as he stroked his spiky rooster haircut.

Seeing them, Lin Mo froze for a second, then smirked.

He remembered—this was the day they tried to bully Su Ling’s good friend, Qu Lili.

Before his rebirth, he had bravely stood up to them and taken their beating. That heroic act had earned him even more favor in Su Ling’s eyes.

Now, all he needed to do was repeat it.

Without hesitation, Lin Mo spread his arms and blocked the group.

“You lot! Stop right there!”

“Who the hell are you, kid? Why are you blocking Brother Kun’s path?” the green-haired guy asked with a frown.

“Are you guys planning to pick on someone from our class?” Lin Mo demanded.

“Pick on who? What are you talking about?”

“Hmph! Don’t play dumb! You’re nothing but bullies—causing trouble all day, picking on classmates. You’ll be a menace to society once you’re out of school!”

“You dumbass, are you looking for a beating?” the yellow-haired guy snapped.

He’d just been chewed out by Chen Tianyou and was already in a foul mood. Now some random nobody was mouthing off at him? He couldn’t hit Chen Tianyou, but this guy? He was fair game.

The yellow-haired guy grabbed Lin Mo by the collar.

But Lin Mo wasn’t angry—in fact, he was thrilled. This was exactly what he wanted.

As long as this incident spread through the school, he’d be known as the one who stood up for justice. Su Ling would admire him even more, and even Cheng Yao, who had rejected him before, would realize how foolish she’d been to let such a great man go.

“Brother Kun, this guy’s gotta be crazy. He’s smiling even though you’re about to beat him up.”

“Brother Kun, I think I know who he is,” one of the lackeys chimed in.

“Oh? You know him?”

“Yeah. His name’s Lin Mo. He used to chase after the campus belle Cheng Yao, but after she rejected him again recently, he said he’d give up.”

“So he’s that Lin Mo. I’ve heard about him,” the yellow-haired guy nodded.

“Hey, kid, are you so crushed by Cheng Yao’s rejection that it broke your brain?” he sneered.

Thinking it over, the yellow-haired guy let go. After all, he’d just been rejected by Qu Lili himself—he understood the feeling.

And with Chen Tianyou’s lecture still fresh in his mind, he didn’t want to risk getting in more trouble.

He didn’t know why Chen Tianyou had suddenly changed, but better safe than sorry. After all, rumors said Chen Tianyou was so ruthless he once beat up his own sister and sent her to the hospital. A guy like that—totally heartless—was terrifying.

“Kid, you’ve clearly got something wrong upstairs. Lucky for you, your Brother Kun’s in a good mood today, so I’ll let this slide. Now get lost.”

He turned to walk around Lin Mo.

Panicking, Lin Mo stepped up again.

If they didn’t beat him, how was he supposed to play the hero?

“What Brother Kun? In my eyes, you’re nothing but a parasite to society! If you’ve got the guts, hit me! If I cry out in pain, I’ll take your surname!”

“You bastard!” The yellow-haired guy exploded with rage.

He’d tried to let it go, but Lin Mo was literally asking for it. If he didn’t beat him now, he’d be letting down his own fists.

He turned and punched Lin Mo.

“Get him! Beat him till he sees stars! If anything happens, I’ll take the blame!”

His lackeys instantly rushed forward and unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks.

Yes—this is it!

Come on, hit me harder!

The more brutal the beating, the more Su Ling would feel sorry for him!

A satisfied smile crept onto Lin Mo’s lips.
