Swish.

With one swing of the axe, several hands remained intact on the railing.

Ai showed no trace of a Shibuya-kei girl, like a cold executioner.Full novel: I Thought I Was Reborn, But It’s a Reincarnation Game — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She saw Yuuki cut off several heads, and the bodies he kicked away knocked down several more behind them.

Then he sidestepped, and a lunging Living Corpse came straight at him.

Its gaping maw gnashed, spraying saliva everywhere, and its bloodshot eyes were chilling.

But with a dull ‘bang,’ its bloodthirsty gaze dimmed.

The axe split the skull, embedding itself deep in the head.

The girl pulled the axe out with a strong twist of her wrist, then chopped off the head of the Living Corpse that had pounced on Yuuki’s back, kicking the headless body away.

However, at that moment, several more Living Corpses climbed over the railing by forming a human ladder, and multiple arms reached out at once.

chaos item…

Bang—

Ai was just about to activate an item when a round table rolled down the railing, knocking those Living Corpses down again.

Mai’s chest heaved continuously.

Standing in the second-floor corridor of the hall, she threw down anything she could find.

“The big star is actually somewhat useful.” Ai didn’t bother with thanks.

After catching her breath, she focused on covering Yuuki’s position.

She was still flustered, but Yuuki was clearly under greater pressure.

He had consecutively cut off over a dozen heads, and his white shirt was stained crimson.

Fortunately, the staircase was only three or four meters wide, allowing him to block it with a two-handed grip on his blade.

Even if the blade of his Reinforcement Magic, which was permanently strengthened, wouldn’t dull, the soreness in his arms became increasingly apparent.

After chopping off a few more arms, he finally lifted his head.

“That’s enough, knock down the chandelier!”

Ai looked up as well, seeing the chandelier above her head.

Without a word, she swung her short axe.

The ‘petals’ extended like a whip, instantly severing the iron chain of the crystal chandelier.

Since it didn’t touch flesh and blood, it wasn’t considered activating an item.

She watched as the chandelier, easily five or six meters in diameter, plunged towards Yuuki’s head, while he kicked away several Living Corpses and lunged back. Visit novelping . com for the full chapter.

Bang!

Glass shards splattered everywhere, and the staircase shook violently, breaking in half in the middle, creating a pile of twisted fleshy pulp on impact.

Huff, huff, huff.

Yuuki lay on Ai, feeling her warm breath on his cheek and the softness from his palm.

He met her cool blue eyes for a moment, then, without a word, rolled over and stood up.

It was clearly a classic scene from a romance manga, but under the Bloodthirsty Red Moon, it felt out of place.

“Go! Mai, open the door!”

The broken staircase wouldn’t hold them back for more than a few seconds, because the Living Corpses had already formed a human ladder and were climbing up, with some only a few meters away from leaping onto the second-floor corridor.

Ai no longer cared that Yuuki had taken advantage of her; she just mechanically moved her legs to follow, watching the man hold his blade flat and slice along the railing, leaving a trail of severed hands.

Several glass shards were embedded in his back, still oozing blood.

He covered me just now?

No one answered her.

The moment she rushed into the corridor, a hand once again grabbed her shoulder and pulled her violently inside.

Bang.

Yuuki closed the door, pressing his hands against it, concentrating his energy.

Synchronization.

Reinforcement.

A faint light flashed, and the wooden door instantly became as hard as steel.

The next moment, a drum-like ‘thump-thump’ sounded from the door.

“It seems these monsters are quite displeased that we’ve closed our doors to them.” Yuuki lowered his hands, his dark humor filling the intense knocking sounds with a cold joke.

Mai rolled her eyes, leaning against the wall, panting, with no time to respond to him.

Her legs felt heavy and sore, as if filled with lead.

She looked down to see her stockings covered in scratches.

“Are we safe? Should we treat the wounds?”

“Just superficial wounds, no problem for now.” Yuuki stretched his shoulders, feeling his entire back numb.

He reached out and pulled Ai, who had sat down on the floor, to her feet.

“There’s no safety here. My Reinforcement Magic can only last two minutes, and don’t forget how you met up with me.”

The two buildings were already connected, with many passages.

It was just that the stairs Ai had originally taken were blasted apart by the Licker.

“They smelled us and came to eat us.” Yuuki grinned, the chaotic knocking behind him had quieted down considerably; he didn’t even need to think to know they had changed routes.

He hadn’t even finished speaking when the walkie-talkie in Mai’s hand rang again.

“Don’t come to the rooms, go straight to the rooftop. There are Lickers everywhere.”

It was Ryan’s voice, still maintaining a responsible attitude.

Yuuki hadn’t responded even once, so a complete wipeout would have been perfectly reasonable.

“Should I answer?” Mai held up the walkie-talkie, taking on the role of communicator herself.

“Tell him we’re about to go up, try to sound scared and anxious.”

“I don’t even need to act.” Mai pressed the talk button, her voice trembling as if she was about to cry, “Brother Li, I’m on the second floor. Can you come and get us? I… I’m very scared.”

She truly was a professional actress; her voice was so heartbreaking.

Yuuki nodded in satisfaction, tearing off his already ragged jacket and slowly wrapping it around his hand.

“The castle is a pyramid structure, getting narrower as you go up. There’s only one path to the top floor, and that Ryan might not be merciful.”

Ai patted the dust off her short skirt, rotating her axe-wielding wrist: “Time to fight for our lives?”

“Yes, put all your remaining stamina into it. Stay close to me, and whatever you do, don’t stop.” Yuuki tightened his grip on the steel knife and entered the corridor, still leading the way.

“Wait, if we run out of energy, how will we get through the next wave?”

“You’re still thinking about the next wave?” Yuuki paused, glancing at the black carpet of surging people outside the window.

“Gamble with me one last time. If we don’t win, pick a way to die.”

As his words fell, his steps gradually quickened, the blade dragging on the ground, carving a straight mark.

This made Ai frown silently.

“You’re in a desperate situation, and you’re not panicking?”

“Panicking about what? At least I have a knife in my hand and teammates behind me right now.” Yuuki steadily stepped onto the stairs, listening to the chaotic footsteps from above.

As he passed a corner, he pushed off with his toes.

General Principle Four: Never despair before death catches up to you.

Kill!!

Turning the corner, he collided head-on with several Lickers.

Before they could pounce, the blade had already slashed through, and the spurting blood stained the wall.

Decapitation, stepping forward, pushing with the headless body.

The body in front of him was instantly torn apart, and the blade, passing through the remains, pierced from the chin and exited the crown of the head.
