Drawing the knife, bending down, the silver-white arc swept across the floor again, leaving several pairs of lower legs on the ground as the Lickers tumbled down the stairs.

“Stay close to the wall.”

Ai’s axe rose and fell, chopping off the heads of the Lickers that got close to her, pulling Mai to follow closely behind Yuuki.Full novel: I Thought I Was Reborn, But It’s a Reincarnation Game — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Stepping onto the third floor, Yuuki turned sideways to face the corridor.

Without needing a reminder, Ai and Mai rushed forward.

Turning his head again, a Licker leaped over like a long-jumper.

Trying to ride me?

Yuuki reacted even faster, raising his knife with both hands and leaning forward.

He felt the dull sensation of the blade entering flesh as the Licker was split in half down the middle, its foul-smelling blood splashing all over him.

At this point, he didn’t care about infection.

Seeing dark figures moving in the corridor, he turned and ran, pushing off the railing and climbing up the outside of the stairs, using both hands and feet.

“You behind me, I’ll go in front. Don’t use the stairs, climb straight up.”

“Okay.”

Yuuki stepped on the handrail, gripping the railing with one hand and his knife with the other, focusing only on severing legs.

The long knife, enhanced by Reinforcement Magic, cut through bone with unusual smoothness.

The Lickers clearly lacked intelligence; how could they have anticipated a player being so devious?

They had to bend down to bite, but with their legs severed and their center of gravity shifted, they instantly became human-meat tires, rolling down the stairs.

They quickly piled up at the corner, some even smashing through the glass and tumbling outside the castle.

Dozens of Lickers were stacked together, legless, still flailing their arms and crawling forward, like a scene from hell.

Ai had no time to look, while Mai dared not.

She kicked off her high heels, climbed over the railing, and used all her strength to keep up with the blood-stained figure in front.

Fourth floor reached, one more floor!

Yuuki had spent several hours exploring the ancient castle before, and it was now coming in handy.

The front section of the castle had five floors, and above that was the rooftop.

But he glanced back and knew the final test was coming soon.

The Lickers that had rushed into the castle were startled by them and all surged towards them.

The stairwell was packed with heads, but because it was too narrow, and blocked by their legless counterparts at the corner, they couldn’t keep up for a while.

Looking left and right, both corridors were full of swaying figures.

According to the speed he had calculated, only a very small number of Lickers could get ahead of them. Find the original chapter at g.com.

At least, the footsteps from above were not dense.

But now they were like a sandwich cookie, with dense black shadows all around them: left, right, and below the stairs.

Even if they stood still and let him hack, they would still die of exhaustion.

“Hayasaka, use an item! Mai, carry her and go!”

Ai had just grabbed Mai’s hand and climbed the stairs, one of her leather shoes already torn off.

Hearing Yuuki’s voice, she gritted her teeth.

chaos item.

Activate.

A slender petal extended, accurately drilling into the head of the foremost Licker.

It grew wildly upon seeing blood, blossoming into a swaying flower from its scalp.

The branches danced back and forth, slicing through the surrounding flesh, and continued to split due to the countless bodies, quickly filling the entire stairwell.

The connection between the fourth and fifth floors seemed to have a blender installed.

Lickers constantly surged up and were constantly shredded.

Most of them weren’t dead; they still crawled along the floor, the bloody scene making one’s eyes twitch.

Ai felt her head split open again, the pain so intense she couldn’t even stand.

Fortunately, Mai carried her on her back, gritting her teeth and struggling up the stairs.

“Hayasaka-san, you should lose some weight.”

Ai was in no mood to respond to the jibe, groaning: “Ten seconds!”

“I know, keep up!”

Yuuki was expressionless, leading the charge.

As if he had architectural blueprints in his mind, he turned right upon reaching the fifth floor.

Fifty meters ahead was the staircase to the rooftop; he had to get there no matter what.

His stamina was nearing its limit, and his knife-wielding hand trembled slightly.

Ten Lickers, drawn by the scent, happened to block the corridor.

He glanced back.

Mai’s legs were already shaking; she probably had never been this tired in her life.

Their eyes met, but neither spoke.

Keep up with me.

The figure in his vision receded, moving faster and faster, gradually shifting from a fast walk to a jog, and finally leaping up.

Yuuki charged at the Lickers, his first strike splitting the entire head of the Licker in front of him.

As red and white liquid splattered, he bent down to the ground, feeling shriveled fingers brush past his hair.

He felt as if he had entered a peculiar state, forgetting fear, fatigue, and even swordsmanship and stamina.

He simply opened his mouth and unleashed the fury in his chest.

Stepping forward with his left foot, twisting his waist, and turning, the reversed long knife left a silver-white sword mark in the corridor.

Waist chop!

Two Lickers, still airborne, broke in half.

Yuuki didn’t even look, straightening his body like a spring.

The blade pierced the next head, he twisted the knife, planed the face, pulled it out, and then leaned back, falling.

Using the momentum of the slide, he slashed left and right repeatedly.

Swish, swish, swish.

The blade severed muscle and bone, causing the Lickers to fall one after another, then crawl on their hands to grab the black-stockinged legs running closely behind.

The carpet was soaked with blood, giving a slick, greasy sensation.

Mai didn’t dare to look down, thinking of nothing, only staring blankly at the blood-stained figure ahead.

Like the only light in a dark, deep corridor, she didn’t need to overthink; she just needed to follow her instincts, like a moth chasing a bonfire.

Two more.

Yuuki couldn’t concern himself with what was behind him.

He had cut his way through the corridor and could already see the stairs not far away.

Brighter moonlight shone down from above, making a man bathed in the moonlight appear unusually out of place.

The man stared, as if Yuuki, charging straight at him, was a stranger.

Yuuki also froze, cold sweat instantly covering his back.

He saw the lifeless eyes of Ryan, and there was an inexplicable killing intent.

How could this be?

It shouldn’t be?

Yuuki was baffled.

After a full two seconds, Ryan finally raised his giant revolver and aimed it down the corridor.

Bang!
