“Don’t come any closer!” The moment Yuchi Mengxing caught sight of Youqin Jingheng rushing toward her, her heart immediately sank.

And then she noticed what was behind him.

Another group of black-clad assassins was chasing after him.

Worse still— there were even more of them than the group from before.

The already chaotic situation had somehow doubled in scale in the blink of an eye.

Only two thoughts flashed through Yuchi Mengxing’s mind.

This is bad.

I’m finished.

Her feet moved before her brain could catch up.

She instantly sped up, darting deeper into the flower field like a frightened rabbit.

One Youqin Jingheng chasing her was already troublesome enough.

But now he had brought an entire group of assassins behind him?

Who could possibly handle that?

“Stop following me!” Yuchi Mengxing shouted while running.

But Youqin Jingheng showed no intention of slowing down.

“No!” His clear young voice came from behind her, stubborn and unwavering.

“My brother told me to protect you!” Yuchi Mengxing nearly choked on her own breath.

“No!

No, no, no!” “I don’t need you to protect me!” “If you really want to help me, just stay far away from me!” She was practically on the verge of tears.

Did this boy even understand what was happening?

She had been running just fine on her own.

Then he came chasing after her— with a whole group of black-clad assassins right behind him.

What kind of protection was this?

This was basically a complete assassination package being personally delivered straight to her!

And the worst part was— Youqin Jingheng wasn’t slow.

There had originally been a decent distance between them, but little by little, he was catching up.

Yuchi Mengxing glanced back.

Her heart tightened.

Why was he even closer now?!

She looked down at her own legs, and indignation immediately surged through her.

Heavens above!

If she couldn’t have some heaven-defying physique, couldn’t she at least have been given a pair of long legs?

Why did she have to end up with— corgi legs?!

This was completely unfair!

She was already running as fast as she possibly could, yet Youqin Jingheng was still steadily closing the distance.

At this rate, he was definitely going to catch her.

Yuchi Mengxing gritted her teeth.

No.

She couldn’t keep running like this.

She forced every last bit of strength into her short legs, taking several quick steps at once until she was almost half-running, half-hopping through the flowers.

At the same time, one hand shot into the bag at her side.

A moment later— she pulled out a talisman.

The piece of paper looked ordinary at first glance, its edges even slightly worn.

But the instant Yuchi Mengxing held it between her fingers, a faint fluctuation of spiritual energy spread from it.

Still running, she hurriedly formed a hand seal.

At the same time, she began chanting under her breath.

Fast.

Very fast.

So fast that even she could barely make out the words.

She didn’t dare slow down.

If she took too long, she was afraid those assassins would wipe her out before the talisman even activated.

“Come on, come on…” She urged silently.

In the next instant— the patterns on the talisman suddenly lit up.

A faint glow began spreading along the intricate markings.

The plain-looking paper instantly released an unusual spatial fluctuation.

Youqin Jingheng, who had been chasing after her, suddenly froze for half a heartbeat.

His eyes widened.

“That is…” He stared at the talisman in Yuchi Mengxing’s hand.

Then his eyes lit up.

“A teleportation talisman?!” The words burst from his mouth before he could stop himself.

Yuchi Mengxing almost tripped.

Why was he shouting?!

Was he worried the assassins behind them hadn’t heard clearly enough?

Before she could turn around and yell at him, Youqin Jingheng suddenly accelerated.

The distance between them vanished rapidly.

Yuchi Mengxing caught sight of the white figure approaching from the corner of her eye, and an extremely bad feeling immediately rose in her heart.

“You—” She had barely spoken when he was already right beside her.

“Wait!” “Wait your head!” Yuchi Mengxing nearly exploded.

At that exact moment— the talisman finally activated completely.

Buzz— A dazzling burst of light erupted from the paper.

The space around them seemed to twist under some invisible force, sending visible ripples through the air.

Yuchi Mengxing’s heart leaped.

It worked!

But the joy on her face lasted less than a second.

Because just as the light was about to envelop her— a hand suddenly reached out from beside her.

Smack!

It grabbed her arm firmly.

Yuchi Mengxing whipped her head around.

And found herself staring straight into a pair of shining eyes.

Youqin Jingheng!

“What are you doing?!” She was about to lose her mind.

But there was no longer any time for him to answer.

The spatial force erupted completely.

White light swallowed both of them at once.

Yuchi Mengxing barely had enough time to widen her eyes.

In the next instant— both figures vanished without a trace.

The black-clad assassins pursuing them stopped abruptly.

“Where did they go?!” “They disappeared?!” “What was that?!” The group stared at the empty flower field, their expressions changing one after another.

Meanwhile— Xuanyuan Weichuan happened to glance over while fighting.

He froze.

Then his eyes widened until they looked as though they might fall out of his head.

“Holy—!” His voice cracked from sheer excitement.

“That was a teleportation talisman!” “That was actually a teleportation talisman that’s been lost for years!” His eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.

Even so, his hands never stopped moving.

He twisted aside to avoid an incoming blade, slid past the attacker, then swung the iron staff in his hand without the slightest mercy.

Dong!

A dull impact rang out.

The black-clad man was sent flying before he could even finish screaming.

Xuanyuan Weichuan barely spared him a glance.

His mind was still completely occupied by the talisman he had just seen.

A teleportation talisman!

Hadn’t that thing been lost for years?

How could that little girl possibly have one?

And judging by what had just happened— it was definitely real.

“Brother!

Brother!” Xuanyuan Weichuan shouted excitedly while swinging his staff.

“Did you see that?!” “That girl just used—” “Shut up!” Xuanyuan Jingchuan cut him off coldly.

At the same time, the spear in his hand shot forward.

The sharp tip tore through the air with a piercing whistle.

“Deal with the people in front of us first!” “We’ll go find Jingheng afterward!” Xuanyuan Weichuan shrank his neck.

“Fine, fine…” Although he agreed, he still couldn’t resist muttering under his breath.

“It’s my first time seeing a teleportation talisman…” “Hasn’t that thing been lost for ages…” Xuanyuan Jingchuan ignored him.

By now, the aura around him had completely changed.

His blue robes snapped in the wind.

The long spear in his hand seemed almost like an extension of his body.

The shaft turned.

Cold light flashed.

Then— he stepped forward.

The spear shot out like a dragon breaking free from the sea.

Whoosh!

Countless spear shadows seemed to fill the air in an instant.

Several black-clad men couldn’t even determine where the true spear tip was before their vision was completely swallowed by cold flashes.

“Not good!” One of them paled.

But— it was already too late.

The spear shadows fell.

Several screams rang out at almost the exact same time.

The bodies of the black-clad men jerked violently before collapsing one after another.

Blood splashed across the flower petals.

The once-brilliant flower field was instantly stained with a harsh shade of red.

Even Xuanyuan Weichuan paused when he saw it.

He had always known his elder brother was strong.

But every time he saw Xuanyuan Jingchuan truly fight, he still couldn’t help admiring him.

“Tsk…” “Brother’s martial technique really is something else.” Xuanyuan Jingchuan: “…” He couldn’t be bothered to respond.

Xuanyuan Weichuan, however, didn’t seem to notice the disdain at all.

Instead, he grinned and tightened his grip on his iron staff.

“But…” He looked toward the remaining assassins.

“My staff isn’t bad either!”
