King Valer.
Two weeks later “They were attacks in the King’s chambers, the Queen Chambers, the King’s study and the Kitchen but from my expertise,” said, Thalvyr, a holy knight with long light green hair and light golden eyes.
“The kitchen was their point of entrance and their main target had to be the King.” Thalvyr said confidently.
“But who would dare to attack the palace?” A viscount asked in alarm.
“Almira has been at peace with its neighbors for eons.” the viscount said in confusion.
“Have the demons truly began to move?” A count asked in alarm and the entire room grew tense.
Three hundred years ago, Almira was hunted by demon and beasts and everyday was a massacre that resulted in countless human lives.
The Goddess seeing that the humans were dying at an alarming rate, grant them three gifts.
One being the gift of magic, the second being the gift of divine beasts and the third being the power of the dragon.
“That’s preposterous!” yelled the King’s adviser, Valaric.
“Our King has the power of the dragon.” Valaric said firmly.
“If the demons have really started moving wouldn’t our King have sensed them?” Valaric asked in frustration, angry at the cabinets impudence.
“If it’s not demons what is it?” Marquis Ezra Roosevelt asked in annoyance.
“Tracks just don’t vanish into thin air without rain washing it away.” Marquis Ezra said in annoyance “For two weeks, the capital has been canvased thoroughly by the holy knights and the palace knights and not a single clue has been found a d the mere fact that the Grand Duke is not present in this meeting shows that the demons have found a way around the Grand Duke’s Duchy.” Marquis Ezra said firmly and the tension in the room skyrocketed.
“What are we going to do?” The Count mumbled in fear.
“The Divine Beasts have long since vanished and magic alone is not enough to defeat the demons.” The Count said as he began to tremble.
“Our only defense is the power of the dragon and if even that doesn’t work-” The Count said before the King slammed his hands on the wooden table.
“Enough!” The King yelled and everyone straightened up.
“The power of the dragon has not waned.” The King declared in anger.
“I will see to the security at the borders myself and make sure that the demons have not found another way into the capital.” The King declared and someone, right in the midst of the King’s cabinet squeezed their fists in displeasure.
Princess Evelyn (Genevieve’s P.O.V) Bounding past the castle guards and making a bee line for the forest, Genevieve ran like her life depended on it.
“After two weeks of bidding my time, the security around the castle has finally thinned down.” Genevieve thought as she dodged trees.
“After the attack, the Queen has stopped bringing me tea made out of whisper peach but who knows what else she might do?.” Genevieve thought as small animals ran out of her way.
“The best thing I can do for myself is refine the stems of the Whisper peach into a large potion instead of a cure for one time use.” Genevieve thought as she scaled the castle walls seamlessly.
“I have already nibbled half and given Myrah half but I am sure this one will still make a fine potion.” Genevieve thought reassuringly, refrencing to the second stem of the whisper peach.
Walking a few meters away from the massive gate, Genevieve materialized and blended in with the crowd.
“Clark Elson.” Genevieve muttered as she headed for the pubs that lined the square.
“A brilliant medic who would later be called to the castle to treat the King, only to meet his end at the hands of the Queen.” Genevieve thought as she hid behind two barrels in an alleyway overlooking the pub Clark Elson was working in.
“I must get to him before he makes his way to the Academy.” Genevieve muttered to herself as she peered at the pub opposite her.
“Is that so?” Jacob asked and Genevieve felt her soul leaving Princess Evelyn for a split second.
“How?” Genevieve asked as she placed her hand on her chest.
“How are you here?” Genevieve asked in astonishment.
“I-” Jacob said confidently before pausing slightly.
“I don’t know.” Jacob said with a confused expression.
“I just focused on following you and-” Jacob spoke, not fully understanding how he followed Genevieve but once Genevieve saw the dark gold color in his eyes, Genevieve understood.
“I see.” Genevieve thought with a smile.
“The divine beast, Althryx, is slowly awakening.” Genevieve thought with a smug smile.
“Don’t change the topic!” Jacob suddenly snapped.
“You were narrowly kidnapped two weeks ago but not only did you sneak out of the castle, you scaled the castle walls to lie in wait for a boy!” Jacob whisper yelled and Genevieve sputtered.
“It’s not just some boy.” Genevieve tried to explain in embarrassment and Jacob gave her a dull look.
“If you tell me that you fell in love with him at first sight-” Jacob began and Genevieve used her hand to cover his mouth.
“I did not fall in love with him at first sight;” Genevieve whisper yelled in embarrassment.
“He-” Genevieve said as she sputtered.
“He is-” Genevieve sputtered, half a second from telling him the truth before suddenly changing her mind.
“This is not the way to get on a lady’s good side by the way!” Genevieve yelled in embarrassment and Jacob’s mouth hung open.
“At the castle you are always saying things like ” Princess Evelyn let me join you on your morning and evening strolls” and “Princess Evelyn let me dab the sweat from your forehead” with my perfectly pressed and extremely nice smelling handkerchief.
This-” Genevieve said referring to Jacob’s early statements.
“This, is not how you act before a lady.” Geneva said with a huff.
“Is that how you want to play it?” Jacob asked as he rolled up his sleeves.
“Then how about you?” Jacob demanded.
“You are always so giggly and happy and saying things like “I will be delighted” with childlike innocence but who knew you could run across a forest in seconds and even scale a high wall?” Jacob snapped and the both of them landed in an impase.
Refusing to back down, the both of them stared at each other until both their heads turned to face the door of the pub they were hiding from in perfect sync.
“Someone is coming.” Jacob and Genevieve whispered simultaneously, as they crouched down behind the two wooden barrels.
