“Sister, it’s morning…” A sweet voice echoed in my ears.

I opened my eyes to see Mimi already awake, looking at me with a smile. Her eyes were clear and bright, as if last night’s drunkenness had just been a dream.

Could this little girl have been faking being drunk? I couldn’t help but think to myself.Full novel: I Will Fall Madly In Love With — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

I patted her head and said with a smile, “Good morning, Mimi. No drinking this much wine ever again.”

“Understood, Sister.” Mimi gave a playful smile before getting up to wash up.

I followed her lead, tidied up a bit, and we headed to the kitchen to start preparing breakfast.

I expertly fried the eggs while Mimi helped wash the vegetables nearby.

“Sister, I was drunk last night, I didn’t say anything weird, did I?” Mimi looked at me anxiously, her eyes filled with worry and unease.

“You, oh you? You talked a whole lot of nonsense.” I held back my laughter and deliberately teased her.

“Ah? What did I even say?” Mimi stamped her foot in frustration, her voice involuntarily rising by an octave. Tugging at my arm, she begged pleadingly, “Sister, just tell me!”

Seeing her anxious expression, I finally couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “Alright, alright, don’t worry, I’m just teasing you.” I gently patted Mimi’s shoulder to reassure her.

“Sister is so mean!” Mimi let out a sigh of relief, but still pouted her cheeks in slight annoyance, grumbling complainingly.

Seeing her adorable look, I ultimately couldn’t hold it back and let out a chuckle: “Alright, alright, come eat breakfast. Should we wake Xiao Xiu up?” I asked.

“No need. He doesn’t have any plans today; he’ll probably sleep until he naturally wakes up. Let’s eat first.” Answering me, Mimi scooped up a steaming bowl of porridge and placed it in front of her.

At the dining table, we chatted about many things. After finishing breakfast, Mimi mentioned she wanted to go for a walk, so I accompanied her for a stroll in the community park.

With the bright sunshine and a gentle breeze brushing against our faces, we strolled along the park paths, enjoying the tranquil time.

As we walked, Mimi suddenly stopped, looked at me, and said, “Sister, thank you for taking care of me last night.”

Hearing this, I smiled, shook my head, and gently replied, “Why are you being so polite with me? Didn’t we agree not to say ‘thank you’ anymore?”

Mimi nodded obediently. Then, taking the initiative to step forward, she tightly grasped my hand and walked side by side with me.

Hand in hand, we walked through every corner of the park together.

Mimi and I returned upstairs. The moment we pushed open the door, we saw Xiao Xiu standing in front of the refrigerator, rummaging through it nonstop. At this moment, his hair was messy, and he was wearing a loose, comfortable set of athletic loungewear.

Compared to the poised young man dressed in a sharp suit yesterday, this outfit made him look like a completely different person.

I couldn’t help but feel a wave of doubt: Is this really the same person?

“Good morning, two sisters!” Hearing someone enter, Xiao Xiu quickly turned around and warmly greeted us.

“Good morning, Xiao Xiu.” I greeted him with a smile, then turned and walked into the kitchen, intending to make some delicious food for him.

“You brat, just when are you planning to go home? Mom and Dad have asked me about it several times already.” Mimi frowned, looking at Xiao Xiu with utter disdain as she demanded impatiently.

“Sis, I don’t want to go back. Besides, your place is pretty close to YHM Company. If I pass the second-round interview and get hired, how convenient will it be to commute from here! Home is just way too far.” Xiao Xiu scratched his head and explained with a grin.

“Oh ho! So basically, you’re planning to freeload at my place long-term?” Mimi widened her eyes, glaring angrily at Xiao Xiu.

“Sis, you’re the best sister in the world. Not only are you pretty, but you also have an exceptionally kind heart. Since you’re so great, could you lend me your beloved car to drive for a bit?” Xiao Xiu smiled flatteringly, staring intently at Mimi as if trying to use his cutest expression to win her over.

“You brat, giving an inch and taking a mile? Go ask Mom and Dad! I’m not giving it to you! Don’t even think about my car.” With that, Mimi turned around and headed toward the kitchen.

Seeing this, Xiao Xiu initiated his nagging routine, pulling out all the stops to please Mimi: “Sister is the best, please, I’m begging you, just lend me the car to drive…” As he spoke, he grabbed Mimi’s arm and gently shook it, acting just like a spoiled, cute puppy.

“Out of the question! I still have to drive Sister around,” Mimi shook off her arm, raised her head, and said proudly.

I walked over to Xiao Xiu holding a plate of sandwiches, handed it to him, and turned to Mimi to say, “I haven’t agreed to your offer about us commuting to work together yet.”

“Thanks, Sister Yan.” Xiao Xiu took the sandwich to thank me, and then continued suggesting, “Sister Yan, why don’t both you and my sister move back to live here? Isn’t your company right around here?”

It was too dark last night to notice, but when I went out for a morning walk today, I realized this apartment was just across the street from my workplace truly very convenient.

“That’s right, that’s right, Sister, move back and live here. Sister, you used to live right here when you were working before,” Mimi quickly chimed in, looking at me with expectant eyes and nodding repeatedly in agreement.

I wore a hesitant expression, though my heart was actually somewhat shaken. Living here was indeed very convenient, and since Mimi mentioned I used to live here, moving back sounded like a good idea.

Just as I was deep in thought, Xiao Xiu seized the opportunity to chime in, “Sister Yan, just agree to it. That way, I won’t have to eat takeout every day, hahaha.”

Mimi also looked at me expectantly. After thinking it over living here would also help me recover traces of my past life and benefit my memory recovery I ultimately nodded. “Alright, I’ll move back before work next week.”

Mimi jumped up in joy. “That’s wonderful, Sister!”

“Brat, nice job! That Accord in the garage is yours to borrow first. You’ve just started working, so keep a low profile and don’t drive too fancy of a car.” Mimi shot Xiao Xiu an approving look and nodded.

“Ah, Sister, you’re truly the best!” Filled with excitement and gratitude, Xiao Xiu tightly hugged Mimi.

“Who else is going to be your sister? Work hard, make a name for yourself, and don’t let down Sis’s expectations for you.” Mimi smiled slightly, gently slipping away to break free from Xiao Xiu’s enthusiastic embrace, and continued pressing, “When do the interview results for YHM come out?”

“The interviewer said they’d give the results today. I think there’s a high chance it’ll work out,” Xiao Xiu replied full of confidence, a resolute and optimistic light sparkling in his eyes.

Looking at Xiao Xiu’s confident demeanor, Mimi couldn’t help but shake her head, revealing a helpless expression. “Where on earth does all this inexplicable self-confidence of yours come from?”

Yet, despite saying that, she must have been happy for Xiao Xiu deep down. Finding something you love and striving for it is truly wonderful.

Ding-dong. Ding-dong.

At that moment, the doorbell rang.

Easter Egg

(Xi Yuxiu’s Bedroom)

After carrying Xi Yumi into the bedroom, Xi Yuxiu turned around and returned to his own room. Without changing his clothes or even bothering to kick off his shoes, he collapsed straight onto the bed.

His cell phone lay quietly on the bedside table, emitting a faint glow.
