In the early morning, sunlight streamed through the window and sprinkled across the bedroom. I sleepily let out a stretch.
Stepping out of the bedroom, I saw Mimi sitting on the living room sofa, her brows furrowed tightly as she stared intently at the laptop before her with a worried expression.
I walked over and sat down beside her, asking softly, “Mimi, what’s wrong?”
Mimi sighed, answering in a downcast tone, “Sigh, I’m trying to design the Hanfu for the winter collection, but I have no inspiration at all and have no idea where to start.”
I took Mimi’s hand and comforted her, “Don’t worry, we’ll figure it out together. The Hanfu you designed previously were all super popular, so this time will definitely be fine too.”
Looking at the blank page on the laptop screen, I thought for a moment and suggested, “How about we start with colors? Do you have any ideas for the main color scheme?”
“Hmm, for winter, darker tones might be more suitable, like red, purple, or dark green. The red cloak I designed for last year’s winter collection was very popular and really fit the festive New Year atmosphere,” Mimi nodded as she reminisced.
“However, if we use red as the main color every year, it gets a bit unoriginal, and there are just too many similar styles of Hanfu on the market, making it hard to create our own unique identity,” Mimi couldn’t help sighing, her face full of anxiety.
“Don’t worry, why don’t we go out and look for some inspiration?” Seeing Mimi looking so troubled, I suggested.
“Yes! Yes! If that’s the case, let’s go somewhere with snow!” Hearing my words, Mimi instantly perked up. Her previously dim eyes lit up brightly as she hopped up from her seat in excitement.
“Huh?!” I was momentarily stunned, completely not expecting Mimi to give that kind of response. I had originally just thought about taking a walk in a nearby park to see if we could find any ideas, but… “Wait, it’s only September right now. How is there going to be snow?” I said helplessly.
“Let’s go to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Yunnan! The peaks there have snow all year round!” Mimi clenched both fists, saying full of anticipation.
“This… wouldn’t that be a bit too much of a hassle?” I wore a troubled expression.
“Oh, come on, Sister! You’re starting work next week, and right before work is the absolute best time for an impromptu trip!” Mimi tugged and swayed my arm, pleading coquettishly, “Come with me~ please?”
Looking into Mimi’s eager eyes, my heart inevitably softened. In the end, I agreed to her request.
“Yay! Sister, you don’t need to prepare a thing leave everything to me!” Mimi patted her chest confidently.
“Shall we leave tomorrow morning? No, no, let’s leave tonight! I’m already too impatient to go traveling with Sister!” Mimi paced back and forth around the living room in excitement.
“Alright, alright, I’ll let you handle all the arrangements,” I laughed indulgently.
After packing our luggage, we set off on our journey to Yunnan that very night.
Upon arriving at the airport, Mimi took my hand and led me into the first-class lounge.
Looking around in surprise at the luxurious environment, I turned to Mimi and couldn’t help marveling, “Was traveling this luxurious for us in the past too?”
Hearing my words, a guilty smile flashed across Mimi’s face as she softly replied, “It really was like this at the very beginning, but later on, you told me not to be so wasteful, and after that, we stopped booking first-class.”
Then, looking up directly into my eyes, she added firmly, “But this time is different. Sister, you’ve just recovered from your illness, and I want you to be as comfortable as possible. Just relax and enjoy the ride this time, okay?” With that, she playfully blinked at me.
The corners of my mouth curved upward into a faint smile as I nodded gently and said softly, “Thank you, Mimi.”
Not long after, under the enthusiastic guidance of the ground crew, we dragged our luggage and slowly boarded the aircraft.
Once we were seated, the plane began taxiing before soaring straight into the clouds. Watching the houses and crowds shrinking below out the window this was the first time I was taking a plane this far since waking up an inexplicable sense of excitement welled up inside me.
At that moment, Mimi reached out and carefully adjusted my seat to an angle she knew I’d find comfortable.
I slowly closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep. In my dream, Mimi was wearing the latest gorgeous Hanfu, standing like a fairy atop the towering, cloud-piercing snow-capped peak. Snowflakes swirled with the wind, fluttering down in a dreamlike and breathtaking scene.
Just then, a piercingly cold wind blew past, making me shiver involuntarily. Mimi acutely noticed my reaction and unhesitatingly untied the magnificent cape from her own shoulders, gently draping it over mine.
Right after, she embraced me tightly, bringing endless comfort with her warm body.
With a jolt of turbulence, I woke up from my dream and was surprised to find that I actually had a cape draped over me. Mimi was currently leaning against my shoulder, sleeping soundly and quietly.
I moved my body with extreme caution, terrified of waking the person beside me. I gently pulled the cape further over Mimi to cover her petite frame.
Checking the time, I saw we still had two hours before reaching our destination. So, I took out my phone, opened the music app, selected a playlist of gentle songs, and put on my headphones.
Mimi rubbed her eyes and mumbled unclearly, “Sister, what song are you listening to?” With that, she let out a yawn and reached out to ask for one of the earbuds.
Once she had the earbud in, Mimi naturally leaned back against my shoulder and, swaying softly to the rhythm of the music, drifted back off to sleep…
Amidst her drowsiness, Mimi instinctively stretched out her arm to hug my arm tightly, snuggling comfortably closer to me.
An elegant flight attendant stepped lightly down the aisle, pushing a meal cart along. She smiled warmly and asked if we needed any service. I smiled politely back and gently shook my head.
My gaze then drifted back to the serene face resting against me. She was sleeping peacefully with her eyes closed, her lips curved upward in a slight smile as if intoxicated by some wonderful dream. Watching her adorable and captivating appearance, I couldn’t resist reaching out to stroke her cheek gently.
At that moment, time seemed to stand still. Looking at her peaceful expression, I felt an unprecedented sense of fulfillment and tranquility.
The airplane’s loudspeaker broke the silence: “This flight is about to reach its final destination. Passengers, please prepare for landing.”
I gently nudged Mimi’s shoulder, calling her name in a soft voice to wake her up.
Mimi shifted a few times before slowly opening her eyes. Rubbing her eyes with one hand, she looked at me with a smile and mumbled sleepily, “Sister, we’re here already~”
“Yes, my little darling slept the whole way~” I stroked her head with an indulgent smile.
“Being next to Sister is just too comfortable,” she said coquettishly, then released my arm, straightened up, and began neatly packing away her carry-on items.
Easter Egg
(Xi Yumi’s Bedroom)
Xi Yumi stood in front of her wardrobe in high spirits, softly humming a tune.
Organizing her clothes while muttering to herself, “I need to take this one, and this one too, and also this…” She tossed various items into the suitcase beside her in a continuous flurry.
In no time at all, two large suitcases were piled high like a chaotic mountain.
Xi Yumi let out a helpless sigh, thinking to herself, “Sigh, I’ll let Sister handle the packing for our next trip.”
