Chapter 7: I finally did it!

I Woke Up and What Do You Mean “Wishes”? Are You Saying I’m a Genie?!

I've been spending the last few days trying the method I remember to get a photographic memory. I recalled that the first step was to blow out all the candles, take just one, and use it to try to fix the image of an object in my mind. I decided to use something familiar: the wine glass.

Every five minutes, I would stare intently at the glass, trying to remember every single detail of what it looked like. Since I have all the time in the world, I decided to keep pushing. Sometimes I thought I had succeeded, but it was just my short-term memory playing tricks on me.

After practicing, I decided to wait a bit and draw for a while. I'm improving a lot! I can already draw much better circles, though it still takes me a few tries. I also keep testing different ways to play the guitar, and then I try to sing an anime song. My life is pretty much like this now: one boring moment after another.

And after all that, I just rest, lying still in bed, even without being tired. Imagine always having the energy of a bright, sunny day after chugging three energy drinks... Of course I can't sleep! So, I just lie there, thinking about random things and relaxing.

I've learned to be patient without the need to constantly check my phone; I've learned to simply wind down. Imagine never being able to use a phone again... Honestly, cell phones probably don't even exist in this world. I had to learn to deal with that quickly, and though I still miss it, there's nothing I can do.

After resting, I repeat all the steps all over again. It's repetitive, but it's what I have to do.

After a few more days, my memory finally improved. It's still not at the point of being a perfect photographic memory, but it has improved enough.

"I finally did it!" I celebrated out loud. "Even though it's not quite at the level of a real photographic memory yet, it's already enough to start recalling those internet tutorials I used to watch but never actually used."
