Elisa couldn’t believe her ears.

If she was still in her body—as someone who only saw the good in people—she would have agreed immediately.

“My head hurts but my memories are still intact.” she replied firmly.Full novel: IGNITING LOVE — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“I understand, ” Ethan replied calmly.

The way he said it though told Elisa he was only agreeing with her so she would stop arguing.

Even though she wanted to counter, she calmed herself and instead asked “have you checked the footage?”

“Yes.

But if you want, when we go home, I’ll show it to you”

“Okay” Elisa replied but she was itching inside.

She couldn’t wait to go back and see the footage.

“Okay.

Can you process my discharge please?

Bring in the hospital is sickening ”

Since she entered this body, she has been frequenting the hospital a lot and she didn’t like it.

She hated hospitals.

It has this weird smell attached to it that makes her want to throw up sometimes.

“Ashley, your fall was pretty bad.

Luckily the doctor said you didn’t break any bones that haven’t already been broken..” Ethan said, and Elisa could wear she saw him die down a chuckle.

“Is it funny?”

He gave a confused look.

Damn, this guy is good at pretending.

“As I was saying, ” he cleared his throat.

“So you have to be monitored in case you have any internal injuries”

“I can be moved home right?

We can just send the doctor to the house.

I’m tired, please”

Ethan thought for a while before responding “Alright” and he got up and went to meet the doctor.

The drive home was really silent but Elisa’s mind was all over the place.

The fact that Ethan—even after checking the footage—believes that the nurse didn’t do anything..

Elisa didn’t realize when she fell asleep while thinking deeply.

It was only when Ethan tried to place her on the bed that she opened her eyes clutching onto him tightly.

“What’s… what’s going on?” she muttered, bending her neck to look down.

“We’re home Ashley.

Now, would you please let go?” Ethan said calmly.

She didn’t even realize how tightly she was holding onto him, until she opened her eyes properly.

She could feel his breath fanning her face.

She cleared her throat awkwardly as she abruptly let go.

“Sorry” she mumbled.

“It’s fine.” He straightened himself and his shirt.

He turned to leave but she remembered she wanted to see the footage.

“uh, wait.

Can I see it now?”

The system was brought and Ethan played the tape.

Ethan watched her expression as she watched it.

“I don’t know how you did it, but Ashley, you should be more careful.”

She knows what happened.

The memory was still fresh in her mind.

She looked at Ethan who seemed to have some pity for her.

Bullshit!

She didn’t need sympathy.

She wasn’t insane.

Rather than arguing with him, she dismissed him by saying “I guess you’re right, silly me.

I’ll be more careful next time.”

Ethan nodded, tucked her in and left her to rest.

Elisa thought long and hard about it and it made sense now.

ASHLEY HAS ENEMIES THAT WANTS HER DEAD.

BUT WHO WOULD IT BE?

And why?

Elisa picked up her phone and bored into the screen.

This face looked too innocent, and from what she knew Ashley was not a troublesome person.

Is it perhaps related to her husband, Ethan?

Maybe someone who wanted him?

She shook that off.

That nurse said something “she’s not talking anymore”, so that has to mean that Ashley probably knows something that she shouldn’t.

So what could it be?

Elisa didn’t know what to do.

She called Nora, finally, and she picked after the third ring.

“Sorry ma’am” she started, immediately.

“I will resume tomorrow.

He’s stable now though.”

“Mira, calm down.

I had a nurse here.

Didn’t you inform the hospital of your leave?”

Mira stuttered in confusion.

“No ma’am, I didn’t tell the hospital, or any one for that matter.

You know that they don’t know I was married or even have a child.” Nora replied.

“Yeah, I understand.”

“So, you said there was a nurse?

Maybe your husband brought her in my absence?”

“I don’t know that, it’s fine Mira.

Since your son is stable you can come back.

Besides, I have a commission I want to carry out immediately.”

“Yes ma’am.

Thank you.”

Elisa thought for a while.

Could it be her husband?

I mean, you know the saying: “it’s always the ones closest to you.”

Elisa couldn’t rule anything out and now she had a plan.

“Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.”

Elisa closed her eyes to sleep, but an image flashed before her. This chapter is updated first at g.com.

~~Elisa~~ Ashley.

She was putting on leather pants ~~under~~ in a dark alley, and as she was about to climb a motorcycle, the flash stopped.

Elisa’s eyes snapped open.

What was that?

That had to be Ashley’s memory but what does it mean?

She picked up the telephone and called for a maid, but the person that came was Ethan.

She looked at him weirdly.

“Why are you here?” she asked.

“What is it that you need?” he asked.

“How do you know I need something?” she asked.

“You just rang a maid.”

“And you know that, how?”

“I told them to let me know whenever you need anything?”

“Why is that?”

“So that I can get it for you.”

“Why?”

“Ashley, is there a problem?

If you want, I could——”

“No, it’s fine.

I want to get on my wheel chair.” she responded.

Ethan didn’t respond.

He just took ~~long~~ long strides to her and picked her up, and in no time, she was in the wheelchair.

“Thank you,” she replied.

He nodded and turned to leave.

“So, where is the nurse, Lola?”

“She resigned,” Ethan replied.

Of course she did.

What if she’s not even a nurse in the first place?

Well, she was going to find out.

“Why?”

“Personal reasons,” Ethan replied.

“Hmm” Elisa nodded in understanding.

“Excuse me” Ethan said and left.

Elisa sighed.

She was starting to really believe that Ethan might be involved in all of this.

Elisa rubbed her arms in a bid to sympathise with Ashley.

“You must have gone through a lot,”

She wheeled to the wardrobe and opened it.

Then she began rummaging through it to see if she would find any leather pants at all, but she didn’t.

They were all casual wear, and some were hers.

Elisa knew something was off.

She could only ponder in confusion.

The more she knew about Ashley, the more amused she was.
