Looks like you’ve taken quite a few beatings before, huh
“Hey, classmate Henry, why is your face green already, and you haven’t even tried it yet?” Erica pushed her glasses up, looking very interested in Henry’s reaction.
“Maybe I’ve been eating too many vegetables lately, malnutrition.” Henry struggled to maintain the smile on his face.
Why was he being used as a lab rat on his very first day back at the academy? This was definitely not part of his plan!
But, in order to build a good relationship with Erica, Henry felt selling out his own body wasn’t entirely unacceptable!
A man’s life isn’t just about eating and sleeping; one must also be brave enough to try new things!
“I agree, classmate Erica.”
Hearing Henry’s acceptance, Erica’s eyes lit up.
She hurriedly pulled two bottles of potion from her pocket and placed them in Henry’s hand.
“This is a potion I developed. It can greatly increase the user’s magic intensity for a short time, with no side effects.” Erica felt that when asking others for a favor, one should offer some good things in return.
Sure enough, Henry’s eyes shone when he heard Erica’s explanation.
This was what they meant by ‘effort will always be rewarded’.
Just look at these two potions in his hand.
If he could have gotten these two potions back in the game, the whales would probably have gone crazy trying to buy this stuff.
What do you call real value? This is real value!
Henry quickly put the potions back into his pocket; their importance was probably second only to Erica, on the other hand, pushed her glasses up and then said.
“Then tomorrow, classmate Henry, come find me at the research lab. I’ll be waiting for you there.”
After saying this, Erica quickly ran off, as if afraid Henry would change his mind.
Leaving Henry alone, his mind filled with thoughts of how to sell these potions in his mouth for a high price.
Mainly because he couldn’t use magic himself, so these two amplification potions were utterly useless to him.
BONG!
The sound of the tower bell rang out, reminding Henry that he had a class this morning.
He immediately flew off on his sword, rushing to the classroom under the astonished gazes of the crowd.
“Wait, was that student just riding a sword to fly?”
“This… how can he fly without using a broom?”
“Could he be another genius among the new students? Why are there so many geniuses this year? I’m starting to feel a bit inferior.”
****
By the time Henry arrived at the classroom, the teacher was just about to start taking attendance.
“Henry? Why are you so late?”
Henry also noticed that the teacher for this class was actually Sidney Rumelter.
Only then did Henry remember that this class was about helping students control their magical power.
“Uh, I ran into Principal Merlin on the way, so I was delayed a bit.”
Henry told a well-intentioned lie.
Sure enough, upon hearing Principal Merlin’s name, Sidney, who had been about to lose his temper, quickly held it back.
“Hurry up and get in line.”
Henry breathed a sigh of relief. He turned around, only to meet Luning’s gaze directly.
Looks like Carey really hadn’t been lying to him; this guy Luning had recovered surprisingly quickly.
Henry had thought he would need to rest for a year or half a year.
He calmly walked over to Luning’s side, a smile still on his face.
“If it isn’t our most talented Luning Rumelter! Truly a genius, recovering so quickly after being injured. Looks like you’ve taken quite a few beatings before, huh.”
Henry couldn’t help but sigh at the vast difference in physical constitutions between people.
Luning’s eyelid twitched violently.
It had been a while, but Henry was still as annoying as ever.
However, he had followed the Family Head’s advice to avoid conflict with Henry as much as possible during this period.
So, in response to Henry’s sarcasm, he just snorted coldly and turned his attention to Sidney.
“Students, today’s lesson is for you to demonstrate your respective magical power. Please perform well, as this may affect your class grade.”
Sidney took out his magic wand, drew a magic circle on the ground, and then began chanting a spell.
Immediately after, an armored dummy appeared before everyone.
Watching his casting speed, Henry suddenly thought of Lady Reina.
Somehow, Sidney’s casting speed seemed as slow as a turtle’s, sluggish and…
“Luning, you go first!”
Sidney soon called Luning to come up.
For Sidney, he understood that Luning had suffered a heavy blow recently.
The fact that he was instantly defeated by Henry with one sword strike had been spread far and wide among the students.
So he knew that what Luning needed most now was confidence.
As fellow members of the Rumelter family, of course he had to help Luning rebuild his confidence.
Luning immediately stepped forward when called.
He took a deep breath, his pupils then turned purple, and his wand began to radiate an aura of destruction.
Seeing this scene, Henry quickly remembered the magic Luning had tried to use on him that day.
Judging by the aura, this should be a highly lethal spell.
Unfortunately, in Henry’s opinion, the casting time was just too long.
If this were a real battlefield, he would probably need others to protect him to pull it off.
Henry watched with amusement, while the other students looked on with solemn expressions.
They could sense that the concentration of Luning’s magic was purer than during the assessment exam.
With a loud shout from Luning.
A purple bolt of lightning fell from the sky, accurately striking the dummy.
In an instant, violent winds swept up around them, and even the ground beneath the dummy’s feet shattered into countless pieces of stone that flew towards the crowd!
Sidney cast a barrier, protecting all the students.
At the same time, a satisfied smile appeared on his face.
The previously intact dummy now had its armor scattered all over the ground, and even its frame was bent, looking as if it might collapse at any moment.
In Sidney’s estimation, for someone Luning’s age to be able to cast a spell of this magnitude was already outstanding.
After all, he was an intermediate mage, just one exam away from becoming an advanced mage.
And the dummy he summoned was extremely tough; even senior students would find it difficult to knock it down.
But Luning had come very close to doing just that.
“Very good, you may return.”
Sidney picked up his notebook and began scoring for Luning.
Luning calmly walked back to his position.
He basked in the exclamations of his classmates, while also feeling proud of his own performance.
He was indeed still the genius he used to be; losing to Henry last time was just because he wasn’t prepared.
He looked up at Henry, only to see him yawning as if bored, the whole person seeming listless.
This instantly made him feel a sense of defeat.
He had wanted to see a look of astonishment on Henry’s face.
Wrong, this guy must be forcing himself to stay calm!
How could he have no reaction at all?
In reality, Henry really didn’t have much of a reaction. Mainly because no matter how strong Luning was, he probably couldn’t compare to Lady Reina.
Otherwise, the position of Combat Director should have been given to Luning.
Seeming to sense Luning’s gaze, Henry turned his head and smiled at him.
But in Luning’s eyes, this smile was full of provocation.
He clenched his fists, his breathing becoming rapid.
This damn guy, does he really not take me seriously at all?
He only won against me once by sheer luck…
