The Most Suitable Experimental Doll
“Damn that old man, always getting in my way no matter what!”
Joseph was grinding his teeth, his face twitching with rage.
He knew the Empire had one rule: they could not interfere with the development of Saint Nad Magic Academy.
He was well aware that Saint Nad Magic Academy’s reputation spread far and wide; many outsiders sought to study there.
If they truly interfered with the Academy’s decisions, it would not be a favorable move for the Empire.
Though he was a dictator, he wasn’t a fool.
“Your Majesty, do not be angry. Although an unexpected situation has arisen, our cooperation will not end because of it. Saint Nad Magic Academy will not interfere with the Empire’s development.”
“What use is that? You cultists can’t operate openly! If the Empire’s strength doesn’t grow, I’ll be suppressed by Saint Nad Magic Academy my whole life!”
Joseph swept all the items off his desk onto the floor!
Selina watched all this with a raised eyebrow.
She knew full well Joseph would be furious.
A waste who had been stepped on for decades, finally seeing a chance to turn his life around, only to face so many obstacles now.
This was utterly unacceptable to him.
“Your Majesty, do not be angry. Do you remember the transaction we made before?”
“Transaction?”
The enraged Joseph turned to stare at Selina.
He had almost forgotten what deal he had made with these cultists.
Selina secretly sneered, feeling nothing but contempt for this incompetent ruler.
“Your Majesty, all the residents of Caucasus City have been sacrificed. Would you like to see their miserable state before death?”
“Don’t show me that useless stuff!”
“Very well. Your Majesty has paid such a great price for us. As partners, we must, of course, provide you with the highest quality service.”
Selina walked to the wardrobe, placed a hand on the handle, and pulled it open boldly.
Joseph’s expression shifted from anger to panic at the sight of what was inside.
He lost control and fell to the floor.
Scrambling backward on his hands and feet, cold sweat poured from his forehead.
When he saw that face, Joseph even thought she had come back to life and appeared here.
“You… you’re supposed to be dead! Why are you in front of me? You haunting woman, I clearly killed you with my own hands!”
Seeing that face, Joseph couldn’t help but tremble, his breathing becoming rapid.
Watching Joseph’s reaction, Selina couldn’t hold back a light laugh.
He was the one who had killed his own wife with his own hands, yet upon seeing her face again, he couldn’t suppress his fear.
One could imagine how much fear he must have overcome to do such a thing back then.
But trash was, after all, trash.
Since he had done it, why be afraid?
Selina walked over and crouched beside Joseph.
She reached out to help him up, her voice coaxing, like one would use with a child, laced with a hint of mockery.
“Your Majesty, there’s no need to be afraid. Look carefully, what’s different between her and Queen Eliana?”
Hearing Selina’s voice, Joseph dared to look up at that face.
Though still somewhat fearful, Joseph did see clearly what was before him.
It wasn’t Eliana at all, but a doll that looked exactly like her!
“What… what is this thing?”
“As you can see, on the surface, it’s just an unremarkable doll. However, when you inject magic power into it, this doll will display unexpected functions.”
With that, Selina walked up to the doll and infused it with magic power.
Immediately, the doll, whose eyes had been lifeless, seemed injected with vitality and slowly stood up.
Its pitch-black pupils were instantly filled with magic power, emitting a blue glow.
Its face showed no expression as it stepped forward to stand before Joseph, looking down at him.
Its movements seemed no different from a normal person’s, even more agile than the average individual.
“This is the result of our research, a doll made possible because Your Majesty donated Queen Eliana’s body.” Selina walked to the doll’s side and casually placed a hand on its shoulder.
“In its heart, tens of thousands of souls are stored, serving as its energy source.”
Selina was just repeating what the researchers had said; as for its actual capabilities, she herself wasn’t clear.
“What’s the point of you creating something like this? Why did it have to be made to look like that woman?”
Joseph couldn’t understand.
He was the one who hated this woman the most. He thought that after her death, he would never see this face again.
He never expected her to appear before him again in this form.
“Your Majesty, you may have forgotten. Before becoming your wife, Queen Eliana was a high-level mage and, simultaneously, an outstanding alchemist. Her body could withstand powerful magic and can become Your Majesty’s capable assistant.”
Joseph tremblingly reached out, wanting to touch that face.
But when his fingers touched the cold cheek of the doll.
His heart suddenly beat violently, a mix of excitement and agitation threatening to burst out!
He had never imagined Eliana would stand before him like this.
In the past, no matter what opinion he offered, Eliana would refute it.
She always claimed it was for his own good, for the good of the people.
But Eliana had never considered his feelings; that was what he found most unacceptable!
He was perfectly capable of governing the Empire well, so why didn’t Eliana ever believe in him?
Everyone sang Eliana’s praises, yet he alone was overlooked!
He was like an outsider, unable to earn anyone’s respect.
Gradually, he began to despise Eliana!
He even started wondering when Eliana would die.
That way, the entire Empire would return to his management!
Harboring such feelings, the person who once shared his pillow went from being his favorite to his most hated.
Finally, when Eliana fell ill, he made the most important decision of his life!
He would kill Eliana!
He switched the medicinal broth Eliana needed, continuously feeding her medicine that damaged her body.
Over time, Eliana’s body could no longer hold on, and she passed away.
At the funeral, he looked at her serene face.
The tear stains seemed to narrate his emotions, but no one knew how utterly mad he had been at that time.
He wished he could have destroyed even Eliana’s corpse.
That’s why he decided to donate Eliana’s body to these cultists.
Yet he never expected that years later, she would appear before him in the form of a doll.
“Eliana, this time you will obey my commands. I will never be manipulated by you again, never have to listen to your words again!”
He excitedly grabbed the shoulders of the Eliana doll, laughing maniacally!
Selina watched all this with a raised eyebrow, a cold smile curling at the corner of her mouth.
Go ahead, laugh. When a king loses trust, the entire country will fall into chaos.
By then, they could proceed with the next phase of their plan.
