“What did you say?!”

At these words, every young person behind Master Sun showed anger. Master Sun made no move to stop them. He only Examined Lin Xiu with interest, as if waiting to see how matters unfolded.

Zhao Qingqing acted as though she had not heard the conversation, teasing Little Lin Yuan from time to time until she giggled.Full novel: I’m a Gangster: Starting Off by Smashing an Angel with a Brick — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Don’t tell me you think that simply living in Sin City for three years means you’ve experienced every storm and hardship?” The young man, who was even more beautiful than a girl, looked coldly at Lin Xiu.

“That’s not quite the case.” Lin Xiu shook his head. “Actually, Sin City isn’t as dangerous as you think. The people there are rather kind.”

The young people did not know what to say. After all, they knew nothing about Sin City. Master Sun, however, stood beside them with the corner of his mouth twitching.

The people of Sin City were kind?

That was the biggest joke he had heard all year.

Sin City had been abandoned in recent years, and he had not gone there again. But in the earlier days, before it was abandoned, it had not been called Sin City. It had been called Black Cloud City.

At the time, Black Cloud City was known as the most dangerous city in Dragon Country. Its people were fierce, and neither the Night Watch Division nor the Dragon Guard protected it. It was essentially a city without an owner.

Back then, Capital Martial University and Magic City Martial University were known as noble Martial Arts Universities. Children from ordinary families found it almost impossible to enter either one, so most young people set their sights on the equally renowned Hundred Battles Martial University.

As one of Dragon Country’s top three Martial Arts Universities, Hundred Battles Martial University was not easy to enter. In some respects, its admission requirements were even stricter than those of the other two.

Hundred Battles Martial University did not consider a Student’s Identity or care what their Awakened Item was. It had only one requirement: Merit Points!

Hundred Battles Martial University was founded to defend the country, protect its people, repel external threats, and maintain internal security. Therefore, applicants had to be under twenty-five and possess at least 100 Dragon Country Merit Points.

There were only three ways to earn Dragon Country Merit Points. The first was killing enemy troops on the battlefield. For anyone under twenty-five, however, that was nearly impossible: without joining the Night Watch Division or the Dragon Guard, they had almost no chance of reaching the battlefield.

The second was making an outstanding contribution to Dragon Country. This was a broad category that included researching Awakened Items and discovering other uses for them, among other things...

The final method—and the best one for most young people—was killing Demonic Beasts. Each Level 1 demonic beast killed earned ten Dragon Country Merit Points. Killing ten Demonic Beasts was enough to enter Hundred Battles Martial University.

Even so, Hundred Battles Martial University still had pitifully few students. After all, few young people in their early twenties dared to kill demonic beasts alone.

Later, to expand enrollment, Hundred Battles Martial University had to relax its admission requirements. Besides requiring 100 Merit Points, it established a separate admission standard: one year of training in Black Cloud City!

Any Awakener under twenty-five who could survive in Black Cloud City for three years without outside assistance could study at Hundred Battles Martial University.

The year the announcement was released, countless high school graduates poured into Black Cloud City, which had previously been deserted.

They were confident that they could spend a peaceful year in Black Cloud City, enter Hundred Battles Martial University, and soar to greatness. Reality, however, taught them a merciless lesson.

When the natives of Black Cloud City saw young high school students arriving one after another, they grew as excited as hungry wolves spotting a flock of little lambs!

Within three days, more than half of the first batch of over five hundred high school graduates who had arrived in Black Cloud City were dead...

Among the survivors, some had been lucky enough to avoid discovery, while others had willingly become slaves to the natives. Most of the survivors... were girls.

Although they had survived, they were hardly different from the dead...

That incident shocked the entire Dragon Country!

As a result, Capital Martial University, Magic City Martial University, the Night Watch Division, and the Dragon Guard jointly condemned Hundred Battles Martial University and demanded that The other party immediately change its admission standards!

Hundred Battles Martial University had not expected changing its admission standards to cause such a major disaster. Helpless, it had to withdraw the standards it had only recently promulgated.

And Sun Changyuan had been one of the few survivors in Black Cloud City at that time!

No one knew better than Sun Changyuan how terrifying Black Cloud City had been. It was a city where people devoured one another. If he had not gone there himself, he would never have dreamed that such a terrifying place existed within Dragon Country!

Even after that incident, Dragon Country completely abandoned Black Cloud City and sent people to carry out a large-scale purge there. Many of the city’s natives were executed, but its fierce customs remained!

Over the years, Black Cloud City became the Sin City known for its evil. Its name alone revealed what kind of place it was, yet Lin Xiu said that the people there were kind...

“Lin Xiu, I’m curious too. How did you spend those three years in Sin City?” This time, Master Sun did not remain silent. Black Cloud City, now known as Sin City, had become his greatest trauma. The fear that period had instilled in him still invaded his dreams, even after all these years.

“Hmm...” Lin Xiu pondered for several seconds, then smiled and began to speak. “Those three years I spent in Sin City can probably be summed up in four words.”

“What four words?”

“Eat, drink, play, and enjoy!” Lin Xiu extended one finger for each word he said.

“This...” Master Sun was clearly stunned. Then, as if he had thought of something, he asked, “Did your father send the Night Watch Division with you?”

“Master Sun, you’re joking.” Lin Xiu shook his head and assumed a righteous expression as he declared, “The Night Watch Division serves Biluo City and Dragon Country. It isn’t the private army of the Lin Family. How could my father mobilize it for my sake?”

At this point, Lin Xiu changed the subject. “However, I did not go to Sin City alone. There were also several dozen students like me.”

“Several dozen students?” Master Sun remained silent for several seconds, then still shook his head.

“Even if there were several dozen of you, you still couldn’t establish a foothold in Sin City.”

Master Sun understood this all too well. More than several dozen of them had gone there together; there had been several hundred. Yet the final result was still the same: the butcher held the knife, and he was the meat on the chopping block!

Although Black Cloud City had no high-level martial artists, even its Level 1 Martial Artists were seasoned killers. The natives were still far more dangerous than these students, who had never seen blood.

Lin Xiu did not hurry to answer. Instead, he looked at the young man behind Master Sun.

“If it were you, leading fifty newly Awakened Level 1 Martial Artists, how would you survive in Sin City?”

The young man had not expected Lin Xiu to throw the question to him. He first froze, then turned to look at Master Sun.

These were all Master Sun’s prized students, and he intended to cultivate them. Thus, he nodded and signaled for the young man to answer boldly.

With his teacher’s approval, the young man thought for a while. Then he raised his head and looked at Lin Xiu, confidence filling his tone.

“Newly Awakened students are certainly inferior in Combat power to the people of Sin City.” He paused, then looked at Lin Xiu and said with confidence, “But since you all came from the same school, I think you must be more united than The other party.”

“Not bad.” Lin Xiu nodded appreciatively. “Continue.”

Hearing Lin Xiu’s praise, the young man’s lips curled upward almost imperceptibly. He felt pleased with himself.

Master Sun, however, Frowned slightly. In only a few sentences, his students had gone from looking down on Lin Xiu to being examined by Lin Xiu. They were even feeling pleased because Lin Xiu had approved of them...

Master Sun wanted to slap the young man and ask what he had to feel so pleased about.
