Inside the school cafeteria.
“Lin Xiu, everyone else is discussing tactics while we’re eating here. Do you think that’s appropriate?” Huo Jingfeng put down his chopsticks, looking aggrieved.
“Here, have a chicken leg.” Lin Xiu generously moved the chicken leg from Chang Fa’s plate to Huo Jingfeng’s.
Chang Fa froze for a moment but said nothing. Even now, he was somewhat afraid of Lin Xiu. Lin Xiu was not exceptionally strong, but he was ruthless in a fight, and every move aimed to take a life.
“Lin Xiu, I don’t have time to joke around with you. If you don’t want to participate, don’t delay our tactical discussion.” Huo Jingfeng slammed his hand onto the table, clearly infuriated by Lin Xiu.
“Don’t get so worked up. I never said I wouldn’t participate.” Lin Xiu extended a hand, gesturing for the other party to sit down.
He gulped down a large mouthful of beer before setting down his chopsticks and saying, “Then let’s hear it. What are your awakened items?”
The seven people in the dormitory all looked at Lin Xiu, then exchanged glances with one another. No one spoke.
Seeing this, Lin Xiu pointed at Chang Fa. “You go first.”
When Chang Fa saw Lin Xiu point directly at him, he dared not remain silent. After hesitating for several seconds, he spoke. “My awakened item is the Dragon Abyss Short Blade.”
“Characteristics.” Lin Xiu lit a cigarette, making Huo Jingfeng frown.
“The Dragon Abyss Short Blade is incredibly sharp and can greatly increase my speed.”
“Not bad.” Lin Xiu nodded in satisfaction, then said, “When you introduce yourself, shouldn’t you give your name as well?”
“My name is Xie Yuan,” Chang Fa added.
“Xie Yuan is too hard to remember.” Lin Xiu turned to look at his long hair and said, “From now on, I’ll call you Chang Fa. Anyone making their way in the world needs their own nickname.”
“Making their way in the world???” Everyone looked puzzled.
“It’s a habit. Don’t mind it. Continue.” Lin Xiu waved his hand, signaling the next person to introduce himself.
Huo Jingfeng was the strongest person in Dormitory 225, and his identity was extraordinary, so the students tacitly regarded him as their leader. After Lin Xiu arrived, however, he brutally injured Chang Fa, and Huo Jingfeng did not seem inclined to blame him. The others concluded that Lin Xiu and Huo Jingfeng were probably equal in strength and status.
“My name is Shen Zhuang.” This time, a fatty spoke. He was about 175 centimeters tall and appeared to weigh 200 jin. He glanced at Huo Jingfeng first. When Huo Jingfeng showed no reaction, he continued, “My awakened item is bronze skin iron bones.”
“Its characteristic is the ability to take a beating.”
“Shen Zhuang, bronze skin iron bones. Not bad.” Lin Xiu nodded in satisfaction again, then said, “From now on, I’ll call you Fatty Shen.”
He gave Shen Zhuang no chance to object before saying, “Next.”
More than ten minutes later, everyone in the dormitory except Huo Jingfeng and Lin Xiu had introduced themselves.
Huang Wei and Huang Gan were twin brothers. Both wielded short swords, which together were known as the Twin-Strand Sword. The two were of one mind and coordinated with extraordinary tacit understanding!
The last was a young man wearing a black mask. His name was Chen Qing, and his awakened item was special: his own shadow.
He called it Shadow!
He could summon a Shadow and switch positions with it within a range of ten meters. As his strength increased, this range would expand further.
At this point, only Lin Xiu and Huo Jingfeng had yet to introduce their awakened items.
“You’ve all seen my awakened item.” Lin Xiu pointed at Chang Fa, who was sitting nearby. “It’s the brick I used to hit him.”
Chang Fa was speechless...
No one asked about the characteristics of Lin Xiu’s awakened item. They had seen it that day: his brick seemed to have no characteristics at all. He was ruthless enough!
“Your turn.” Lin Xiu pointed at Huo Jingfeng.
“Awakened item: Lin Shuo.” Huo Jingfeng hesitated for several seconds before continuing. “My awakened item is a broad, powerful weapon, better suited to charging through battle formations. In a fight between small teams like this, it’s difficult for me to use it effectively.”
“Lin Shuo?” Lin Xiu slightly Frowned. “What’s that?”
Huo Jingfeng shot him a glance, then stood up and took two steps back. With a wave of his hand, a spear nearly two meters long appeared in his grasp!
Lin Shuo resembled a long spear, but its spearhead was shaped like a round hammer. It was a simple weapon with an ugly appearance.
“Your awakened item really doesn’t suit you...” Lin Xiu could not contain his laughter.
Among these people, Huo Jingfeng was peerless in appearance. More precisely, in both his lives, Lin Xiu had never seen a male student as “beautiful” as him.
And his awakened item... might have been the ugliest one apart from Lin Xiu’s brick.
“Hmph.” Seeing Lin Xiu struggling to suppress his laughter, Huo Jingfeng snorted. “The strength of an awakened item has nothing to do with its appearance.”
“I know, I know.”
Lin Xiu pondered briefly before speaking. “I don’t have much experience arranging troops and formations, but I can see our weakness: we lack support-type and healing-type Awakeners.”
“That’s right. This puts us at a considerable disadvantage in team battles.” Huo Jingfeng nodded in agreement.
“But we have our advantages as well.” Lin Xiu changed direction and said, “All eight of us are combat-type awakeners. That also gives us tremendous offensive power!”
“What do you mean?” Although Huo Jingfeng had not experienced surviving in Sin City as Lin Xiu had, his family background had given him some understanding of commanding battles. He had vaguely Guessed Lin Xiu’s intentions as well.
“A blitz!” Lin Xiu said succinctly. “If we disable the opposing combat-type Awakeners as quickly as possible, their support-type and healing-type Awakeners will have no chance to contribute.”
“What you’re saying makes sense, but it won’t be easy to put into practice.” Huo Jingfeng shook his head.
“We’re all Level 1 Martial Artists, so our combat abilities aren’t far apart to begin with. Defeating the other party quickly won’t be easy.”
“I know.” Lin Xiu nodded, then became unusually serious.
“So what I’m about to say is the key to victory.”
Hearing this, everyone grew solemn. The military training assessment results were important to them; they would affect their future status in the Academy and their ability to Obtain resources.
“If you’re willing to listen to me, I guarantee we’ll place among the top three in the Class during this competition.”
“Are you Confirming that?” Huo Jingfeng’s eyes lit up.
This group confrontation training used a promotion system. Each Class had three groups that could advance. After advancing, those groups could continue competing against groups from other Classes. The Academy would award prizes based on the final rankings, and Magic City Martial University had never been stingy with such rewards.
“Of course.” Lin Xiu spoke with confidence.
In his three years in Sin City, Lin Xiu would not claim expertise in everything, but he was confident when dealing with sheltered brats who had never seen blood. Even if they were all Geniuses from different places, it would make no difference!
