Shen Zui sat stiffly on the sofa. As an artist, he often came into contact with female makeup artists and female assistants, yet this feeling was something he had never experienced before.
Fortunately, there wasn’t much sushi. By the time they finished eating, it was already close to eleven. Shen Zui went to the bathroom, while Jiang Wanting climbed into bed and scrolled through Weibo under the covers.
The moment she opened Weibo, Jiang Wanting was startled—she had actually made it onto the trending list. After reading the statement Shen Zui had posted, her heart softened completely.
Shen Zui took a quick shower. When he came out, he saw that the girl was already in bed. He took out the hairdryer and dried his hair, then looked toward the girl on the bed.
“Is your hair dry?”
Jiang Wanting stammered: ”Not… not yet.”
“Come here.”
Come here? Jiang Wanting couldn’t figure out what he meant. She got out of bed, slipped on her slippers, and walked over. Was he going to help her dry her hair? Could something that good really happen?
Shen Zui handed her the hairdryer, then strode toward the large bed. “Dry it before you sleep.”
Jiang Wanting: “……”
Taking the hairdryer from his hand, she realized she had overthought it. There was no such good thing—she had even thought he might help her.
Jiang Wanting’s hair wasn’t very long, but it was quite thick. It would take at least fifteen minutes to dry.
After drying her hair, she went to the bathroom. When she came out, she didn’t forget to turn off the lights, leaving only a dim yellow night lamp in the dark room.
Jiang Wanting closed her eyes and emptied her mind for more than ten minutes. Suddenly, she opened her eyes and sighed softly. Being unable to sleep in a different bed was truly a problem—it needed to be fixed.
“You can’t sleep in unfamiliar beds, yet you still came to me?” Shen Zui heard her sigh and knew she couldn’t fall asleep.
“I’ll get used to it after sleeping here a few more times.” Jiang Wanting once again said something astonishing.
Shen Zui: “……”
He chuckled softly, clearly amused by her.
“What are you laughing at?” Jiang Wanting asked helplessly, looking at him in confusion.
“There are rumors that Miss Jiang is willful, domineering, self-righteous, and extremely delicate.”
“You also said they’re just rumors. Some rumors are just that—rumors. You can’t judge a person based only on those. You have to get to know them more deeply.” Jiang Wanting clenched her hands, explaining anxiously. That’s not me.
“Mm, you’re right.” Shen Zui suddenly turned over, looking at her in the dim light. “So how do I get to know you more deeply?”
Jiang Wanting felt as if she could hear her own intense heartbeat. “Of course, slowly!”
Shen Zui suddenly reached out, his thumb gently brushing against the girl’s smooth, jade-like cheek.
“Wh… what are you doing?” Jiang Wanting held her breath, not daring to move as he toyed with her face.
“Nothing. Go to sleep.” Shen Zui withdrew his hand, unconsciously rubbing his fingertips together, as if the delicate sensation still lingered.
Jiang Wanting: “……”
How could someone be like this! Flirting and then running away without taking responsibility. Jiang Wanting pouted.
Early the next morning, Shen Zui’s biological clock woke him on time. A slender long leg was draped across his waist. Helpless, he moved it away. He had already experienced Jiang Wanting’s sleeping posture back at the Shen family.
Just as Shen Zui was about to leave, Jiang Wanting seemed to speak with her thoughts: ”Can I stay here for the whole day today?”
Seeing that her eyes were still closed and her voice was soft and drowsy, Shen Zui couldn’t help but want to laugh.
“Suit yourself, as long as you’re not afraid of being bored.”
“Okay, be careful while filming.” After saying that, Jiang Wanting fell back into a deep sleep. She had only fallen asleep at around two in the morning.
Shen Zui paused as he put on his mask. Aside from his family, very few people ever showed concern for him.
Jiang Wanting slept until eleven before getting up, washing up, and ordering room service.
Shen Zui finished filming around four in the afternoon. The snowfall had delayed outdoor scenes, and the night scenes had already been completed a month earlier.
When he returned to the hotel, Jiang Wanting was lying on the sofa watching a Korean drama.
Hearing the door close, Jiang Wanting frowned slightly. What was going on? She turned her head and saw Shen Zui in a black down jacket.
For a moment, she didn’t react, staring blankly at him. After a while, she asked: ”Why are you back so early today?”
“The snow delayed things.”
“Snow? Is it snowing?” Jiang Wanting quickly put on her shoes and ran to the balcony.
Shen Zui: “……”
That posture—it was as if she hadn’t seen snow in eight hundred years.
“It really is snowing! It’s so beautiful! We should be able to build a snowman tomorrow, right!” Jiang Wanting stretched out her hand to catch the snowflakes. Within seconds, they melted, leaving her palm icy cold.
This was the first time in her life she had seen snow. She had lived in the south before, where there was no heating, and winters were endured purely by willpower. Here, she finally experienced what heating was like.
Shen Zui walked over with his long strides, his voice calm. “Be careful not to catch a cold.”
“I won’t. I’m very healthy.” Jiang Wanting didn’t even turn around, continuing to reach out for the snow. “Tomorrow we can build a snowman.”
Her eyes were bright, as clear as a lake, with long curled lashes. The excitement in her gaze was impossible to hide.
Shen Zui’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his voice turning slightly hoarse. “Let’s eat.”
Jiang Wanting was still a bit reluctant to leave. Her fair, slender fingers had turned red from the cold. She rubbed her hands together and followed behind Shen Zui.
Shen Zui had ordered room service—four simple dishes and a soup. Fortunately, Jiang Wanting wasn’t picky. From her observations, Shen Zui seemed to prefer lighter flavors.
Jiang Wanting suddenly spoke: ”Does your film crew provide meals? What do you usually eat?”
Shen Zui paused slightly. Was she trying to get closer to him?
Sensing his reaction, Jiang Wanting looked a bit apologetic. “Did I ask too much?”
Shen Zui’s expression remained indifferent. “No.”
“It’s just that I have a friend who really likes acting, so I wanted to ask for her.” Jiang Wanting blinked her bright, dark almond-shaped eyes. A completely made-up friend.
“The crew provides meals. The quality depends on the production team. You can also bring your own or buy your own.”
Jiang Wanting: “??”
That’s how it works?
“Wouldn’t minor actors have really poor meals?”
Shen Zui: “???”
Jiang Wanting picked up a piece of shrimp paste. “If the crew is poor, their food must be much worse.”
Shen Zui fell silent for two seconds. Her train of thought was truly unusual—always thinking of strange things.
“Then how much do extras usually earn per day?”
Shen Zui paused again for two seconds. “It depends on the production team.”
Jiang Wanting placed a piece of rib into Shen Zui’s bowl. “This is good, eat more.”
Shen Zui stiffened slightly. “Thank you.”
“What does it feel like when you’re suspended on wires? Is it uncomfortable? Or exciting?”
Shen Zui lowered his eyes. The first time he had been suspended on wires was when he was just an extra. He had flipped several times in a row, and when he came down, he had almost vomited.
His voice remained faint. “It depends on the person. Some feel dizzy, nauseous, or scared. Others find it exciting.”
Jiang Wanting looked at him with her watery eyes. “What about you? Was it uncomfortable?”
Shen Zui ate the rib she had given him. “It was okay.”
Jiang Wanting didn’t ask any further. Shen Zui had a rather cold personality—she asked one question, and he answered one. If he weren’t her white moonlight, she wouldn’t even bother talking to him.
If she didn’t speak, he wouldn’t either. But that worked out perfectly—she was talkative. She and Shen Zui were truly a perfect match!
Jiang Wanting couldn’t help but feel secretly delighted.
