That evening, Jiang Wanting once again ordered hotel room service. Fortunately, the food here was quite good, and she wasn’t picky.
After the meal, Jiang Wanting scrolled through short videos for a while, then planned to take a bath. Taking a bath in winter felt quite comfortable. Afraid she might fall asleep in the tub, she didn’t stay long before coming out of the bathroom.
As she walked out while drying her hair, she unexpectedly ran into those deep brown eyes.
The man was wearing a black overcoat. He had taken off his mask, revealing a handsome face. Beneath his narrow, peach-blossom eyes was a tear mole, and his facial features were flawless.
Jiang Wanting’s hand paused mid-motion as she wiped her hair. This was too awkward. Could someone tell her why Shen Zui had come back so early today? Wasn’t it only a little past eight?
“Um… you’re back.”
“Mm.” Shen Zui took off his coat and hung it on the rack.
“Have you eaten?” Jiang Wanting quickly secured her hair-drying cap.
“Not yet.”
Jiang Wanting walked over in hotel slippers, picked up her phone from the coffee table, and sat on the sofa. “Then I’ll order takeout for you.”
Shen Zui wanted to say there was no need, but looking at the girl’s bright almond-shaped eyes, the words of refusal stuck in his throat.
Jiang Wanting opened a food delivery app. “What would you like to eat? It’s only a little past eight, not too late.”
“Anything is fine.” Shen Zui took off his sweater, leaving only a white long T-shirt. The fabric was slightly sheer, revealing his long neck and a distinctly defined Adam’s apple.
His voice was calm. “I’ll take a shower first.”
Jiang Wanting stared blankly at his disappearing figure. Was he… trying to tempt her just now? Fine, she admitted she had fallen for it—she seemed to have glimpsed his abs beneath the white T-shirt.
Jiang Wanting ordered from a place she usually liked. Considering that Shen Zui was an artist, she chose low-carb dishes.
While Shen Zui was showering, Jiang Wanting quickly dried her hair and adjusted her bathrobe. She should bring a few sets of pajamas here next time—otherwise, she would have to wear a bathrobe every time she came.
When Shen Zui came out of the shower, the takeout had just arrived.
Since the delivery couldn’t come up, Jiang Wanting planned to go downstairs to get it. Her coat was short, and wearing it over the bathrobe looked somewhat ridiculous. She tried on Shen Zui’s long down jacket instead—it was so long it almost dragged on the floor.
Just as Shen Zui came out of the bathroom, he saw this scene. He raised an eyebrow slightly, as if questioning why she was secretly wearing his clothes.
Jiang Wanting: “……”
Help! This was a social disaster scene! Caught wearing his clothes, and they didn’t even fit—this was too embarrassing. She felt so awkward she could dig out an entire apartment with her bare hands.
“The takeout is here. I was going to go downstairs to get it.” Jiang Wanting lowered her head, staring at her toes, muttering softly: ”My clothes are too short. It doesn’t look good with this bathrobe.”
Shen Zui wiped his short hair with a towel, his tone calm. “Call the front desk and have them bring it up.”
Jiang Wanting: “……”
Good grief—how had she not thought of that? This made her seem so unintelligent! What a miscalculation!
In the end, Shen Zui made the call. Jiang Wanting put his coat back where it belonged, her head hanging low in frustration. She might as well move to another planet—this was too embarrassing.
Shen Zui couldn’t help but laugh.
Jiang Wanting thought she had misheard. She looked up and saw a smile lingering at the corners of his lips, his peach-blossom eyes curving into crescents.
“Sorry.”
Jiang Wanting: “……”
Fine. Since you look so good when you smile, I’ll forgive you this time. After all, I like you.
The hotel staff quickly delivered the takeout.
Jiang Wanting opened the door.
When the staff member saw her, he froze for a moment. Damn! There was a stunning beauty in Shen Zui’s room—was she his fiancée?
The staff member didn’t dare look too long or say anything.
Jiang Wanting, no longer embarrassed, carried the takeout to the coffee table and opened it. “I ordered low-carb dishes for you. You can eat more.”
After drying his hair, Shen Zui took a look. There was quite a lot of food, and it looked appetizing.
“Come, come.”
Jiang Wanting served him a bowl of pork tripe chicken soup. “This soup is really good. Try it.”
“Thank you.” Shen Zui accepted it.
Watching him eat made Jiang Wanting feel hungry again, so she began eating as well.
Shen Zui ate slowly and methodically, every movement elegant and refined. Jiang Wanting, on the other hand, ate like a little hamster, which made her seem somewhat amusing and cute.
“Uh…” Jiang Wanting let out a small burp. She glanced awkwardly at the man beside her. “Sorry, I ate a bit too much.”
Seeing that his expression remained composed, Jiang Wanting let out a breath of relief. She wasn’t usually like this—her carefully maintained image had completely collapsed tonight.
Shen Zui glanced at her and began clearing up the dishes.
Jiang Wanting rubbed her slightly round belly. She had eaten too much and felt a bit bloated and uncomfortable.
“Take it.”
Jiang Wanting lifted her eyelids. The man’s clean, slender fingers were holding a box of digestive tablets.
She froze for a moment before taking the medicine, looking at him in confusion. “Why do you have this?”
“The hotel provides it.”
Jiang Wanting wanted to ask if she could not take it. She hated taking medicine—the bitterness mixed with a strange smell made her want to gag. Unfortunately, the man had already poured her a glass of water.
Pouting, Jiang Wanting resignedly popped out two tablets and swallowed them with a sip of water from the glass he held.
Shen Zui paused. Lowering his gaze, he saw the girl’s fair, slender fingertips. The warm, delicate touch spread through him like an electric current, reaching his heart.
After swallowing the tablets, Jiang Wanting took another sip of water from that well-defined hand. “Thank you!”
“If you can’t handle it, don’t eat so much next time.” Shen Zui left that remark behind and walked into the bathroom.
Jiang Wanting muttered softly, her pink lips pouting. I didn’t want to eat that much either! But watching him eat made everything seem so delicious. It was rare to share a meal with him—she didn’t want to waste the opportunity.
The weather grew colder and colder. As soon as Shen Zui got into bed, Jiang Wanting shamelessly moved closer to him. Although there was heating, why not take advantage of a free “heater”?
Shen Zui’s hand froze on the blanket as he turned to look at the girl beside him.
The girl blinked her obsidian-like eyes, her voice soft and gentle. “It’s a bit cold. If we stay close, it won’t be cold.”
Shen Zui: “……”
Her actions were truly beyond his expectations.
Jiang Wanting’s heart pounded wildly. Her boldness had reached the level of a city wall. After a few seconds, Shen Zui turned off the lights, leaving only a dim yellow night lamp in the room.
Seeing that he didn’t push her away, Jiang Wanting decided to push her luck. Acting on her thoughts, she wrapped her arms around his, inhaling his clean, pleasant scent, unable to suppress the smile on her lips.
Shen Zui took a deep breath and said calmly: ”Don’t move around.”
Jiang Wanting suppressed her little schemes, found a comfortable position, and said softly: ”Alright, good night!”
Shen Zui opened his eyes and looked at her, only to see her breathing steady. He paused in surprise—she had fallen asleep that quickly?
The next day, Shen Zui began filming night scenes. He didn’t have much time to rest during the day. In order to let him sleep well, Jiang Wanting simply returned to Qianxing Garden.
To love him meant to understand him. Although she really wanted to stay with him, there was no need to rush. After all, Shen Zui was already hers—where could he possibly run?
Besides, returning to Qianxing Garden also made it more convenient for her to attend classes. This place was too far from her school.
