Walking forward, he could feel the gazes of the maids piercing his body. Already making their theories.
It was the second time he was seen in a bed with a woman in just twenty-four hours. And school didn’t even begin yet. Walking down the stairs, Steven watched Irose guarding his corridor as usual.
But the old man only gave him a conflicted look. ’’I know youre young but maybe finish one thing before you start another.’’
’’It’s not like that...’’ He answered but gave up explaining; if he were exact, it would truly look like he was some kind of player as he just walked through his doors toward his room.
To his sweet happiness, his room was empty, except for some box lying on his bed, with a card written on it.
’’A small appreciation for your help.’’ He read out loud. ’’Signed by June.’’
Perfect, another woman annoying him as he mindlessly opened the box to find a heart-shaped device in it.
’’I hate this school.’’ He yelled, thinking about just jumping out of his window to end all this. But only fell to his floor, pulling out his hair.
He just wanted some time alone to rest as he continued lying on the floor with his eyes closed trying to sleep.
Where the people following him today part of the fingers? Hadn’t he made it obvious he would only talk to one of their leaders and not some foot soldiers? Also, why did they wait until he was alone to attack him?
He should probably go to the jail and find out soon. Opening his eyes, he stared at the calendar in shock. Finally remembering why Merency was probably getting ready for something.
There was a meeting between each class, so every diamond class member had a meeting now. Staring at June’s clock, he was already too late.
Jumping to his legs, he only checked himself with one glance in the mirror; his uniform was dusty and his hair even worse, but that didn’t matter.
Running through his door, he passed Irose. ’’Why didn’t you tell me I have a meeting?’’ Not even stopping for a second.
’’I had no idea, sir; I don’t have access to your...’’ As his voice slowly faded in the background while he jumped down the stairs. Landing on the first floor.
The ground slightly shaking, as he calmly walked inside a gigantic living room, in the middle were five nearly completely filled couches. With only three seats empty, one next to Lucy and a guy from the second table and another next to Merency, who was already tapping the seat.
There you are! She spoke as everyone turned their heads towards him. Only greeting her with a small nod, he sat down beside her. As he felt everyone staring at him, and only after their conversation resumed did they turn away.
Except for Lucy, who seemed to be drilling holes into him with her gaze. June next to her seemed to instead stare at Merency with a troubled look.
’’It doesn’t look like the rest are going to show up, even though I expected better from Mr. Eden.’’ Lucy spoke while continuing to stare, not even blinking.
’’I heard he got into some trouble at the main road.’’ Steven spoke while trying to slowly move away from the princess, which only seemed to draw her closer.
’’Trouble, well, that can’t be changed.’’ Lucy answered, her voice as cold as ice. Then she picked up some papers from a coffee table next to her.
’’Back to our main topic, if we all live here together, we need to sort a few things out.’’ She continued as she handed out what could be called a book of problems. ’’Nearly burning down the arena, breaking windows, being way too loud at night... not appearing to meetings or coming late and so much more.’’
Steven could see Lumiel shift uncomfortably at the mention of fire in the arena, and Steven was pretty sure the rest of the points were directed directly at him.
’’And no, room service won’t take care of anything; you’re all adults; you can handle yourself.’’ She continued, but barely anyone was listening.
’’Who allowed a commoner to command me around?’’ A young girl from the second table spoke up.
’’Do I have to remind you that you only finished in ninth place?’’ Lucy answered coldly, but Steven was barely listening to their debate; instead, he was wondering about where Edward had gone. The guy surely would’ve attended an event like this, and he didn’t seem to have been caught by the guards for questioning.
As he could feel Merency move closer once more, he didn’t have any space left to move away. ’’Don’t forget we need to act.’’ She spoke; her voice was too energetic and hopeful for somebody who was also forced into this situation.
But he simply closed his eyes, ignoring the princess, resting for a moment. Until he was suddenly woken up by something colliding with his barriers.
Opening his eyes, he could see an ice shard hovering in front of his face. ’’And no sleeping during meetings, you guys understand? That will be it for today.’’ Lucy finished as she stood up and walked away, each step as if she were a raging monster.
’’What was that for?’’ Steven asked in the still-remaining round but got no answer.
But hearing that the meeting had ended, Steven didn’t remain sad; instead, he instantly jumped up away from Merency, who gave him a sad look.
He didn’t wait for her to follow and instead walked back to the main staircase. As he turned around the corner, he nearly bumped into Edward, who just seemed to have arrived.
His uniform was perfect, not a speck of dust on it.
His mana also looked perfectly calm.
’’Oh, Steven, nice to meet you.’’
Steven couldn’t believe it.
This guy was way too relaxed for somebody who just came out of a fight because of him.
’’Can you tell me where Lucy is? I need a briefing for today’s meeting.’’
