A sweltering heat filled Amelia as she locked eyes with Selene. Her dress torn as Selene pressed her wet hot heat against her thigh, her tail snaking out and slowly sliding around Amelia’s pulsing womanhood, teasing her, and then stroking her softly. She cried out, as Selene raked her claws across her back, nipping at her neck. Selene murmured her name over and over again until a harsh blare jolted through her, waking her. Amelia groaned as soft light filtered through, as she rolled over and buried her head beneath the pillow, the faint traces of tantrum vanilla on her pillowcase. Wait.

She shot up as the light stung. “Yep, that’s a headache.” She swore. “Why’d I even set an alarm. It’s the weekend.” Something was faintly there, lingering at the edges, pressing down on her back. She checked her back. No marks. Why would there be? Coffee, I’m in desperate need of…she buried her face in her pillowcase, inhaling deeply, feeling relaxed wanting to fall back within her hold as she stroked her hair, stroked her…coffee. Right.

Amelia stared at Upper West Side buildings as she sipped her cold brew, occasionally distracted by the ducks bobbing in tandem to the spreading waves. Couples jogged around the perimeter of the reservoir—they must be right? Holding hands or laughing together. Or matching each other’s pace, rhythm, stride. She pressed her forehead against the iron bars, closing her eyes the reflection of midtown in her vision, a cloud covered night, and a boulder. She pressed her fingers around the bars. She? Amelia looked around. A girl with glasses, dark straight hair, no streak of green, and a beanie cap was holding hands with a man with bushy sideburns and a green jacket. The man shifted and wrapped his arms around her, and she felt an awful pain in the pit of her stomach. This is wrong. All wrong. The empty cup ended up in the trash. Could have sworn. She trailed behind the couple. This was crazy. There were too many people here. The man in the brown jacket was gone, and so was the girl. C’mon you can’t lose her again. Her head was pounding.

The spot from yesterday was empty. She sat and pressed her fingers to her forearms, sinking down, resting her back on the boulder. The weight in her stomach was growing, a slight throbbing behind her temples. There’s no one here. You’re stupid. And then she heard it. Faintly at first. Muffled sobs.

A woman in a brown jacket lay hunched over, arms tucked over her face. Blonde bob. Dark eyes. Slight dimples.

“Hey, are you okay?”

The woman stirred and then she looked up. “Yeah,” she said wiping her tears. “It’s just a lot. I feel like there was someone important here, but now they’re…gone?” Her voice trailed off. “I feel like I’m going insane, but I swear someone was here with me.”

“I get that.”

“Do you?” Her eyes were wet, glistening. “Also, I’m also a fucking woman now so that’s something.”

“You’re uh taking it very well.”

“Of course I am!” She threw up her hands. “I’ve wanted this my entire life. It’s not fair, it’s not fair that it’s just me,” she said her voice muffled once again. “I want to thank whoever it was that did this to me. Because before it wasn’t easy, ya know.”

“I do,” Amelia said before she could stop herself, and the woman’s eyes widened.

“I don’t mean to be ungrateful,” the woman said without looking directly at Amelia. Yep there it was. Out yourself and suddenly you’ve got wings of melted wax. “I just feel like this is unfair. It shouldn’t have been me.”

Amelia didn’t know what to say, but she exhaled deeply. “I started transitioning four years ago. Started with a small dose. Wouldn’t change a lot. Maybe my voice,” she said. “Sometimes I fuck it up. Still. But every bit of effort I put into my transition, it’s odd but I wouldn’t change it. Obviously, I’m a little jealous, but I wouldn’t change it.” she gave a weak smile. “I don’t know you, but your transition is yours.”

The woman didn’t say anything. Played with the buttons on her jacket. “I just want to know who did this to me. Not a big cult follower but wouldn’t mind following this person to the ends of the earth.”

Amelia laughed. “Is that right?”

“Why wouldn’t it be?”

“Because she doesn’t want us to,” Amelia blurted out. “I don’t think. Anyways, whoever it was left us behind.”

“You’ve seen her?” The woman’s eyes searched her.

“I might have met her.”

“And you’re the same as me.”

Amelia’s face colored. “I just told you I transitioned three years ago!”

“So you met her recently? When?”

“None of your business!” A stark blush colored her cheeks.

“You’re right it’s—”

“I thought I mattered more, okay! It seemed special, more than just a one-night fling and then she dipped.” Left me with nothing. Her taste at the edge of her tongue. “It was real,” Amelia said. “It was actually real!”

“Oh now you’re scaring me.”

“Where did she go?”

“I don’t know!”

Amelia grabbed her hands. “We have to find her.”

“I’m—she doesn’t want to see me anyways.”

Amelia stopped for a second. Was it weird asking another woman to find someone you both might yearn for? Yearn was a strong word, she exhaled. Calm down, Amelia.

“Why? Because we’re the same, we have to stick together or some bullshit like that?” The woman huffed, and Amelia’s felt her hands rest on the woman’s coat. “We have to buy you a better jacket.”

“Thrifting does sound fun. No, no, this is ridiculous. What’s the point—I, this was a mistake. My documents will be all messed up. My girlfriend will be pissed. I’m supposed to be a man. I should be in shock. I should be upset.”

“You’re a woman now.”

“I’m a woman now,” she repeated. “Of course. And I always have been.”

“Nice 180. You gotta come with me.”

“To go thrifting?” For a second the blonde’s eyes lit up.

“No, but you wanted to thank her, right? And maybe if one of us forgets the other could remind the other.”

“Not bad. And to think I thought you were just a friend trying to help me find one of my exes. But you’re just boring.”

“You were dating?”

“We kissed…I think.”

Amelia tightened her grip on the brown coat.

“Uh! Don’t give me that look. How do you think I ended up like this? Magic?”

“No, a kiss makes total sense.”

Amelia lay back in her bed. A text buzzed in her pocket. A message asking if she could call her, “Bea, or is it lame?”

Amelia typed a quick reply that it suited her. So many weird things had happened. Amelia and Bea had searched so many places (gone thrifting) and there was no sign of her. Amelia turned off her phone and rolled over drifting off.

A warm breeze made her way into her bedroom. Hazel eyes with flecks of gold watched over her. Selene. Amelia knew this was another dream, but she felt so incredibly warm, calm, flushed even as her visitor hummed, peeled back her blankets and then nipped at her neck, dragging her tongue down her jugular to her jawline. Another nip there. Playful. Light. Teasing, trailing kisses down her neck again to her navel.

“I missed you,” a sultry voice beckoned, purring. Voice more husky than she remembered. Half lidded eyes. She felt the tail as it flicked down and wrapped around her, claiming her between her thighs, pulling her close and tight. She moaned as Selene tilted her head back, ravenously kissing her as she traced a thumb over a hardening nipple, causing her to moan even louder. A finger making its way into her mouth, holding her, anchoring her. And oh what she was doing to her!

Another coaxing rub down there with a flick of the tail and Amelia’s breath quickened. Her fingers brushing against her stomach, tongue flicking a nipple and tail moving down, her breath quickening, but it wasn’t enough. She needed more.

“Perfect to feed on,” Selene’s voice lingered in her ear. “You’ll get yours. Just not tonight.”

Amelia pushed back, frustration burgeoning. “I need to—” her voice strained, the need so strong, and then it started to dissipate. “No, you can’t do this. You can’t take this away from me.”

“I give and I take, my dear,” Selene’s voice said and she sounded almost sad.

Amelia felt a slow, soothing calmness overtake her, and she felt Selene’s head pressed into the crook of her neck, and a slight wetness against her neck, as she slid further into her bed, a slight purr against her neck. “I missed you, my dear.”

A shudder rose up inside of Amelia as she felt the tail move up and down, tracing a sharp warmth across her thighs. Intoxicating, it caused her to sink back into Selene’s body. This was Selene, right? Not some dream. A tongue flicked against her ear, teeth slightly biting down as the tail curled around her womanhood once again.

“You’ll always be mine,” Selene whispered. “I’ll make sure of it.” Her tail traced circles around her tip.

“Only if you stay,” Amelia said, and Selene wrapped her arms around her, making her feel safe. Sort of. She couldn’t put a finger on what this was, and Selene held her tight, carefully so, almost cautious. But her warmth pressed against her. So many red flags. And yet they didn’t seem to matter as she heard snores rising from the succubus’s chest. She felt at ease.
